'Flatliners' actors and actresses: Where are they now?

The hit 1990 sci-fi thriller "Flatliners" is getting the reboot treatment! Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev and Kiersey Clemons star in the new version of the film, which opens in theaters on Sept. 29, 2017. In honor of its debut, Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the cast of the original movie — in which a group of medical students repeatedly die and revive themselves in an attempt to discover what lies beyond death — to see how they've changed over the years. Kiefer Sutherland starred as bad boy Nelson Wright, the ringleader of the titular group of medical students in "Flatliners."

Kiefer Sutherland, who's set to appear in the 2017 "Flatliners" reboot, went on to star in "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me," "A Few Good Men," "The Three Musketeers" and more of the biggest movies of the '90s before transitioning to television in the early aughts. He starred as Jack Bauer on several iterations of "24" between 2001 and 2014 and won a Golden Globe and two Emmys (plus several more nominations) for his work on the hit drama. He then headlined the short-lived series "Touch" and has starred on "Designated Survivor" since 2016. Kiefer and Julia Roberts started dating on the set of the original "Flatliners" while she was still in a relationship with Dylan McDermott and while he was separated from actress Camelia Kath, his first wife and the mother of his daughter, Sarah. (The marriage officially came to an end the same year "Flatliners" debuted.) But it wasn't meant to be with Julia, to whom he was briefly engaged: The "Pretty Woman" star infamously broke up with him and jetted off with his pal and "The Lost Boys" co-star, Jason Patric, just days before they were scheduled to tie the knot in 1991. Kiefer was then married to Kelly Win, whom he divorced in 2008 after a nine-year separation. In July 2017, Page Six revealed that the actor — who's had his fair share of headline-making incidents over the years — has been secretly dating actress Cindy Vela for three years.

Kevin Bacon starred as David Labraccio, a medical student who's haunted by a former classmate he once bullied.

Kevin Bacon's biggest hits now include "A Few Good Men," "Apollo 13," "Mystic River," "X-Men: First Class" and more. After earning his first Golden Globe nomination in 1995 for his performance in "The River Wild," he took one home in 2010 for his work on the made-for-TV movie "Taking Chance," for which he also nabbed an Emmy nomination. Kevin starred on "The Following" from 2013 to 2015 and most recently portrayed the title character on Amazon's "I Love Dick." He and Kyra Sedgwick, whom he wed in 1988, have two children together: son Travis, who was born shortly before "Flatliners" debuted, and daughter Sosie, who arrived two years later.

Julia Roberts starred as Rachel Manus, a medical student who's guilt-ridden over the death of her father.

The same year "Flatliners" debuted, Julia Roberts earned her first Oscar nomination for her work in "Steel Magnolias" and won her first Golden Globe for her performance in "Pretty Woman," for which she earned her second Oscar nomination the following year. She finally won an Academy Award in 2001 for portraying the title character in "Erin Brockovich," and she earned her fourth Oscar nomination in 2014 for her work in "August: Osage County." She's also earned Golden Globe nominations for "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Notting Hill," "Charlie Wilson's War" and "Duplicity" and Emmy nominations for her work on "Law & Order" and "The Normal Heart." Most recently, the iconic actress starred alongside George Clooney in 2016's "Money Monster" and voiced a character in 2017's "Smurfs: The Lost Village." Julia famously romanced Liam Neeson and was engaged to Dylan McDermott and Kiefer Sutherland before running away with Jason Patric. She was then married to Lyle Lovett from 1993 to 1995, briefly dated Matthew Perry and was in a four-year relationship with Benjamin Bratt that came to an end in 2001. The following year, she married cinematographer Danny Moder. They now have three children: son Henry and twins Phinnaeus and Hazel.

William Baldwin starred as the womanizing Joe Hurley, a medical student who secretly videotaped his partners during intimate moments.

William Baldwin went on to star in "Backdraft" and "The Squid and the Whale," but for the most part, his film roles have been mostly forgettable. He's had far better luck over the years on the small screen, where he's had stints on "Dirty Sexy Money," "Parenthood," "Hawaii Five-0," "Gossip Girl," "Hot in Cleveland" and "Hit the Floor." In 1995, Billy married Wilson Phillips singer Chynna Phillips, with whom he shares three children: daughters Jameson and Brooke and son Vance.

Oliver Platt starred as Randy Steckle, a medical student who declines to flatline but joins his classmates in their experiments.

Oliver Platt went on to star in "Indecent Proposal," "Benny & Joon," "The Three Musketeers," "A Time to Kill" and countless other films during the '90s before transitioning primarily to television in the aughts. He earned Emmy nominations for his work on "The West Wing," "Huff" and "Nip/Tuck" and also had stints on "Bored to Death," "The Big C," "Fargo" and "The Good Wife." Since 2015, he's starred as Dr. Daniel Charles on "Chicago Med" and its sister shows: "Chicago Justice," "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." Oliver, who's also had good luck on Broadway and earned a Tony Award nomination in 2006, tied the knot in 1992. He and his wife, Camilla, have three kids: daughters Lily and Claire and son George.
