"The Emoji Movie" opens in theaters on July 28, 2017. To celebrate the release of the long-awaited animated film, Wonderwall.com is revealing which stars are voicing the walking, talking emojis. Let's begin with T.J. Miller, who voices Gene, an outsider emoji who, unlike the other emojis of Textopolis, can express multiple emotions. Throughout the film, we follow Gene on his quest to become "normal" like his peers. Keep reading to see the rest of the emojis and the Hollywood stars who are bringing them to life!
T.J. Miller began his career in improvisation and stand-up comedy in the early aughts and by 2008 had been named one of Variety's "10 Comics to Watch." The funnyman released an hour-long comedy special, "No Real Reason," in 2011 and hosted "Mash Up," a series that combined stand-up and sketch comedy, for Comedy Central. T.J. found greater fame playing Erlich on HBO's "Silicon Valley," though announced in May 2017 that he was leaving the critically acclaimed series after four years. He's also well-known for his voiceover work in "How to Train Your Dragon," Cartoon Network's "Dragons" and Disney Channel's "Gravity Falls" as well as in Mucinex commercials (yes, he's the talking ball of snot). T.J. has been in the media as of late for his wacky antics — from getting kicked out of a party at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival to being arrested in December 2016 for getting into an altercation with an Uber driver. He has been married to actress Kate Gorney since 2015.
