'Medical issues' revealed
Amid health officials' warnings about an uptick in COVID-19, RSV and the flu, Pink has announced she's postponing more tour dates because of a respiratory infection. On Monday, Oct. 16, the singer announced she would have to reschedule two concerts because "family medical issues require our immediate attention." On Thursday, she nixed more shows and shared more details about her health concerns.
"I am deeply sorry to share that I have a respiratory infection and my doctor has advised that I am unable to perform at the Vancouver shows on Friday and Saturday," Pink told fans on Instagram. "Live Nation is working on new dates to reschedule the shows. I am very much looking forward to performing in Vancouver and putting on an incredible show for everyone. In the meantime, I wish everyone good health and am sending lots of love. xoxo Pink."
The music star's update comes as the CDC and doctors across the country are reminding Americans now is the time to get the latest COVID-19 booster and an annual flu shot. The FDA has also approved the first RSV vaccine for adults age 60 and older and for women in late stages of pregnancy. All three respiratory viruses are expected to surge again this fall and winter, according to the CDC.

Sculpture gone wrong
A wax homage to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been unveiled at the Musee Grevin in Paris and the actor's fans … have questions. "Why's he white? And when are you going to fix it?" asked one Instagram user in the comments when the museum shared photos of the new wax sculpture following its debut this week. "The rock is samoan/African American but yours looks like Eastern European plumber 🤦♂️," another person wrote. (Dwayne's dad, the famed pro wrestler Rocky Johnson, was Black and born in Canada; his mother, Ata Johnson, is of Samoan heritage and was born in Hawaii.)
While a slew of fans called out the museum for the color of the wax figure's "skin," other Instagram users suggested the sculpture looks more like one of Dwayne's former co-stars. "That's Vin 'The Rock' Diesel," one person quipped, joking that The Rock had been turned into his former "Fast and Furious" co-star — and rumored nemesis — Vin Diesel. Another user claimed the wax figure looks like the "love child if the rock and vin diesel had a baby." A third fan, meanwhile, saw a different resemblance entirely: "Unveiling the New and Improved Mr. Clean!" As of Friday, Oct. 20, the Rock had yet to comment on the piece.
Passionate 'brawl'
When Britney Spears showed up on the arm of Colin Farrell at his 2003 premiere for "The Recruit," the pair's cozy, PDA vibes sparked chatter about what appeared to be a new romance — despite Colin's red-carpet claim they were "just mates." According to Britney's new memoir, "The Woman In Me," the singer's friendship with Colin was more like a sexy, "two-week brawl."
"Brawl is the only word for it — we were all over each other, grappling so passionately it was like we were in a street fight," Britney writes in a new excerpt from the book published by Time. She was newly single following a long, serious and high-profile romance with Justin Timberlake when she was photographed with Colin in January 2003. Justin, she writes, had quickly hooked up with multiple women after their split. Britney was still "in love" with the singer, she recalls, but she also wanted to get over him. That's when a mutual friend set her up with Colin.
"As I had before when I'd felt too attached to a man, I tried to convince myself in every way that it was not a big deal, that we were just having fun, that in this case, I was vulnerable because I wasn't over Justin yet," Britney writes of her fling with the actor. She later admits, "for a brief moment in time, I did think there could be something there," though she doesn't tell readers why it ended.
"The disappointments in my romantic life were just one part of how isolated I became," she writes. "I felt so awkward all the time." "The Woman In Me" is due out Oct. 24.

Rehab bound
Former "Empire" star Jussie Smollett is heading to rehab a year and a half after he was convicted of staging a hate crime, his rep told TMZ on Wednesday, Oct. 19. "Jussie has had an extremely difficult past few years. He has quietly been working very hard for some time now and we are proud of him for taking these necessary steps," the rep said without elaborating on what the actor will be treated for in the outpatient program. According to People, the men who claimed Jussie hired them to assault him in 2019 also claimed to have given him "illegal substances."
The actor, 41, told Illinois police that he was attacked on Jan. 29, 2019, by two men who yelled racist and homophobic slurs while beating him up. He also claimed they put a noose around his neck and threw bleach at him. The men, brothers Abimbola "Bola" and Olabinjo "Ola" Osundairo, said in court Jussie paid them to assault him. Though he's maintained his innocence, Jussie was convicted of staging a hate crime and falsifying a police report and sentenced to jail time, probation and nearly $150,000 in fees. He was also fired from his role as Jamal Lyon on HBO's "Empire." After serving only a few days behind bars, he was released from prison and is currently appealing the conviction, People reported.
Fashion faux pas
Supermodel Linda Evangelista has one "pet peeve" about modeling and the fashion world in 2023, and as she told the hosts of "The View" on Thursday, Oct. 19, "it's a big one."
"I think post-production is the devil. I think filters and retouching are the devil," said Linda, 58, when she was asked to compare today's modeling world with the industry she knew at the height of her career in the '80s and '90s. "When, back in the day, when we did a photograph, yes, we cheated," she began, according to People. "We tied our belts so tight and then put Coke cans in the back to cinch our waists. We held reflectors to take out the bags [beneath our eyes]. But they didn't retouch the photo. We did it perfectly on set and what you saw was what you got."
In 2023? Not so much. "Today, it's like, no matter what happens on set — like, a button will pop off and they'll say, 'Don't worry, we'll put it on later.' Your eyelash will be hanging off and they're like, 'Don't worry, we'll fix it later,'" said the model, whose September 2023 Vogue cover alongside Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington was widely criticized for its use of post-production editing on the women's images.
A two-time breast cancer survivor, Linda appeared on "The View" to discuss and promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which runs through October.
