TV star reveals affair she had during first marriage is her biggest regret in life

Kris Jenner is coming clean about the time she stepped out on her marriage.

On an October episode of "The Kardashians," Khloe Kardashian grilled her famed "momager" about her unfaithfulness to the late Robert Kardashian — a topic that was spurred during a discussion the two women had about Khloe's long-term off-and-on partner Tristan Thompson, who has been caught cheating on her multiple times over the years.

Without beating around the bush, Khloe asked her mom, "What was your mindset when you cheated?"

Back in 1990, Kris Jenner stepped out on her 12-year marriage with Robert Kardashian for a fling with a man named Todd Waterman. In 1991, Kris and Robert divorced.

"What was your mindset when you cheated?" Khloe Kardashian asked her mom. "When you did that with my dad, and you had four kids and you had a family? Yes, I know you were really young…"

Kris acknowledged being "really young and dumb" as factors in her affair and said youth is "something that plays into it because you don't really understand the consequences of your actions."

After Kris Jenner opened up about her affair, Khloe Kardashian asked her mom, "But what was my dad not doing that made you want to look elsewhere?"

"I don't know because he was such a great husband and such a great dad, and I think that I fell into a situation where I thought that the grass was greener somewhere else, and I made a huge mistake," Kris said. "That's my life's biggest regret."

Kris Jenner chose to look on the bright side regarding her affair, knowing that she eventually would meet and marry Caitlyn Jenner and have two daughters — Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner — with the former Olympic athlete. 

"I'm not proud of the way I behaved during that time, but you know what? Everything happens for a reason," Kris said. "I really do live my life by thinking God has a plan, and without that whole thing happening, there never would've been Kendall and Kylie."

Kris Jenner said her relationship with Robert Kardashian remained fiercely strong after their split. 

"When I got divorced, Robert and I became best friends. We talked on the phone all day long, helped each other through things all the time, and I did have regrets," Kris said on "The Kardashians."

"I thought, 'Wow, what I was thinking?'" she added.
