Nearly a year after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, the former couple is getting closer to what Angelina has portrayed as a family healing process. But healing can be about moving on from something painful, which may have to do with why an insider tells InTouch Brad plans to seek a bifurcation in his divorce proceedings as a means of speeding up the process and becoming legally divorced. "Restoring his status to a single person isn't about Brad going out on the town and dating, but about his beginning a new chapter," says a source. A bifurcation would allow the two parties to divorce prior to settling the terms of their custody agreement and property divisions. Although the slow pace of their divorce has led some to question whether they'll ever go through with it, the insider InTouch spoke to says Brad wants "to officially take back control of his life" despite a purported "lack of progress in getting close to a settlement." In recent months, Brad has participated in monitored visits with his children, submitted to drug and alcohol testing after acknowledging he had lingering substance abuse issues that affected his family life and conceded to Angelina's reported custody demands. Says the source: "His life has been at a standstill while he's spent a year appeasing Angelina. He wants to move on to the next phase of his life without having his hands tied by her — and he wants it soon."

According to London Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer, one thing seems likely to change soon: Meghan's marital status. "Make no mistake, Meghan's interview declaring their love is a significant point in this royal romance signalling an approaching engagement," the reporter tweeted (via Celebitchy). Other tweets included the suggestion that, "undertaken with palace approval, it looks like a PR exercise to prepare the public for an engagement in a glossy mag given access," and "royal sources have claimed it's part of her work as an actress but she has carefully avoided discussing Harry in promotional work before." Added to the fact the two recently traveled home together on a public train car — while adorably texting one another and smiling — it does feel like the signs are all there for Harry and Meghan to make it official.

The New York Post reports Lady G. hopped onstage with the singer and trumpet player to help him perform tunes including "Little Coquette," "Call Me Irresponsible," "What A Difference A Day Makes," "Just A Gigolo" and "I Can't Give You Anything But Love." Gaga and Brian worked together frequently when they were both coming up as performers in New York's Lower East Side neighborhood.

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski are fostering kittens

One of Hollywood's most adorable pets, Finn Seyfried, has some new siblings — at least for now. Amanda Seyfried announced this week that she and Thomas Sadoski are fostering multiple tiny kittens in an effort to help the Best Friend Animal Society in Los Angeles save pets from a cruel fate at kill shelters. "We're fostering this basket of kittens along with their momma until they're ready for their forever homes," Amanda wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of her and Thomas looking utterly smitten with at least three little tabbies, each about the size of her hand. "There are a lot of kittens in the LA area who need the same care! @bfas_la supplies everything you need to keep them safe and you supply the love!" she added. "We're so close to making LA a NO KILL city." No word on whether Finn has taken to the little guys yet.

Variety reports Julia Roberts, Barbra Streisand, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Jamie Foxx, Karlie Kloss, Rob Lowe, Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, Kelly Rowland, Adam Sandler, Ryan Seacrest, Michael Strahan, and Blake Shelton are also all slated to appear on the Sept. 12 fundraising event. Dubbed "Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief," the telethon airs at 8 p.m. Eastern on networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CMT. Anna Faris on the importance of female friends: 'I never bought that' Chris Pratt should be my best friend

All women need other women in their lives. That's the message Anna Faris delivers in the new issue of Cosmopolitan. The newly single actress shared an essay about female friendships that was adapted from her book, "Unqualified," according to People. In it, she describes the bra strap-snapping and other bullying behavior she experienced as a kid and how that scared her away from making friends with women when she grew up. "I was once told that I didn't need a tight group of girlfriends because Chris should be my best friend," she writes of her soon-to-be ex-husband Chris Pratt. "But I never bought that. The idea of your mate being your best friend — it's over-hyped." Anna went on to say she once "thought it was cool to say I was a guys' girl" because in her 20s, she "thought that having the approval of my stoner guy friends was of greater value than having the approval of beautiful blonde sorority girls." As it turned out, she realized she was "wasn't even getting any fulfillment from the relationships with those dudes." Finally, the actress addresses competition within her gender and industry. "It takes vulnerability of spirit to open yourself up to other women in a way that isn't competitive," she writes. "That's especially hard in Hollywood, where competition is built into almost every interaction."

Kim Richards isn't the only one benefiting from her sobriety. Thanks to Skydog Ranch — which hires a crew of people recovering from addictions and committed to AA programs — the wild horses rescued by the sanctuary has rescued from dangerous situations are getting a little more TLC. Speaking to E! News this week, Kim explained how Skydog has become "something healthy and beautiful" she can focus on. In the process, she says she's seen "there isn't really anytime for negativity." Kim continued: "My recovery has been amazing and I love how I feel. This has been a huge part of it and has helped me a lot. The Sanctuary keeps me grounded and keeps me at peace and it's healthy for me. It's been amazing for me and me coming here has really been a major part of keeping me sober." She added that welcoming a grandson has also kept her focused on her recovery."
