Lala Kent says 'Vanderpump Rules' 'rewards' her financially 'for confrontation'
According to Lala Kent, cast members on "Vanderpump Rules" are paid based on a number of factors — including a willingness to create conflict and bring the drama. "When you're brand new, you definitely need that hostess job. I still was having to 'fit model.' I still was having to be a hostess," Lala, 31, said on the Feb. 7 edition of Dear Media's "Trading Secrets." "Like, what I was making on the show was not covering much." That's changed since her 2015 debut on the Bravo series, she says. "My show rewards me for confrontation and speaking up. I don't want to say that I like confrontation, but I will say that I'm great at it," Lala admitted. "It's not something where I leave feeling amazing after it happens, but I know what I signed up for and I'm being paid for my thoughts. When cameras aren't on, I tend to pick my battles a little bit better. But when cameras are on, it's, like, 'Well, I have a thought and I'm going to say it.'" Later in the interview, she noted that keeping brand "relevant" outside of TV helps her team better negotiate her salary on "Vanderpump Rules."

Sheri Shepherd is reportedly in talks to take over 'The Wendy Williams Show' semi-permanently
Goodbye, Wendy Williams, hello Sheri Shepherd? After months of struggling with serious health issues, Wendy was expected to return to her eponymous talk show in March, following Sheri's guest host stint. But according to a report published by TMZ on Feb. 8, Sheri and the show's execs are about to sign off on a deal that would make her the show's "permanent guest host." Sources tell the outlet producers plan to keep an eye on Wendy's recovery from a variety of medical problems, including Graves Disease and a thyroid condition, that seemed to kick into overdrive after she contracted COVID-19 and stepped away from the show last summer. Though she was rumored to have been dealing with mental health challenges around that time, as well, a source tells People "reports of a stroke, drugs or addiction issues or a dementia diagnosis are all false." Should Wendy still feel unable to come back on as host in September, the plan is reportedly for Sherri to take over. The show's name would also be tweaked to reflect its new host, according to TMZ's sources. If she feels well enough to helm the show again, sources say she'll be welcomed to return, but according to People's source, Wendy "won't be returning for the rest of this season," as her "healing is going slower than everyone had hoped." Since Wendy's departure at the end of Season 13, other guest hosts have included Leah Remini, Whitney Cummings and Bill Bellamy.

Couples Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons and Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz make Oscar history with acting nods
The 2022 Oscar nominations were announced on Feb. 8, and "The Power of the Dog" came out firmly in the lead with a whopping 12 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director (Jane Campion). The Western psychodrama also earned nods for one of two high-profile Hollywood couples who snagged nominations this year. "The Power of the Dog" stars Kirsten Dunst is up for Best Actress, and her partner and costar Jesse Plemons is nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Married duo Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz also both have a chance to win Oscar gold next month — Javier is nominated for performance in "Being the Ricardos," while Penelope is up for "Parallel Mothers." That makes 2022 "the first time we've had two couples nominated in the same year covering all 4 acting categories," The New York Times' reporter Kyle Buchanan tweeted. There's actually a long history of both members of Hollywood couples being nominated for Academy Awards in the same year. As for both partners winning in the same year … not so much. In 2009, Angelina Jolie was nominated for best actress for "Changeling" and her husband at the time, Brad Pitt was up for best actor for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Neither snagged a win. Two years earlier, Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger were both nominated — and both lost — for "Brokeback Mountain." After Susan Sarandon and her then-husband Tim Robbins were both nominated for 1995's "Dead Man Walking," only Susan won. Jack Nicholson also failed to win his category while his then-partner Anjelica Huston won hers after they both appeared in 1995's "Prizzi's Honor." The Oscars air March 27 from Los Angeles.

Cardi B's 3-year-old daughter reportedly targeted by cyberbullies
The Instagram account Cardi B set up for her daughter Kulture, now 3, back in 2020, has been set to private after Cardi reportedly found hate-filled messages and comments on her toddler's page. The Daily Mail reports Cardi made the change on Feb. 7. "Haven't been checking my daughter account but now I'm going to lock her page," she reportedly tweeted before calling out "weirdos" for attacking her child. She later deleted the tweets, according to the Mail. Screenshots published by the outlet show some of the largely unprintable insults trolls were using to bully Kulture, who'd already racked up 2.3 million followers on the platform. Cardi's update to her daughter's Instagram comes after the rapper was awarded at least $1 million in a defamation case she filed against blogger and YouTuber Tasha K, who made unsubstantiated claims about Cardi's sex life, among other personal matters, years earlier. After the case went to trial and Cardi won, she said in a statement, "The unchecked behavior and provably false content on platforms like YouTube have to be addressed and removed." Cardi shares Kulture with her husband, Migos rapper Offset. The two welcomed their second child together, a boy, in September.
Pete Davidson publicly calls Kim Kardashian his 'girlfriend' for the first time
Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian haven't exactly hidden their relationship from the public since photos of the two holding hands on a roller coaster surfaced in October. But for the first time since they started dating, Pete referred to Kim as his "girlfriend" in a new interview published by People this week. During a chat for "People (The TV Show)," the "Saturday Night Live" star was asked about his social media use — which is nil, he explained. "Well, I don't really have Instagram — I don't have Instagram or Twitter or any of that stuff. So, most of my daily life is getting into cars and showing up to a set," Pete said. "Or, if I'm off, I just either hang with my friends or chill with my girlfriend inside. So I don't do much." Maybe most romantic gesture, but it's a definitely a step beyond the response he gave Seth Meyers on "Late Night" in November when Seth teasingly asked Pete to confirm whether something he'd been "reading about a lot in the press" was "real or a rumor," clearly implying Kim. "I've been wanting to talk about this because there's a lot of people I walk by, people are like whispering and making eyes at me. But it is true," Pete replied, looking smug. "I do have a show on Tubi coming out." And, of course, he did. Pete, along with Woody Harrelson and John Goodman voiced characters for "The Freak Brothers," an animated series based on the cult comic of the same name. So maybe it's appropriate that he felt "alone" for long stretches of time while filming "The Batman," Matt Reeves' upcoming take on the DC Comics series. Rob, 35, opens up about the strange experience of filming the movie during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic in the new issue of GQ, where he recalls how the role gave him something to hang onto in the dark days of 2020 — but also kept him even more isolated. "I just always had this anchor of Batman," he explains. "… Everyone I know, if you had a little momentum going in your career or your life, then stopping, you had to have a reckoning with yourself. Whereas I was so incredibly busy the whole time, doing something that was also super high pressure, by far the hardest thing I've ever done…. I was still playing Batman at the end of the day, even though the world might end." The set — a "bubble within a bubble," Rob recalls — and his costume both forced him to stay focused on his job. "And the nature of the shoot was so kind of insular, always shooting at night, just really dark all the time, and I felt very much alone," he says. "Even just being in the suit all the time. You're not really allowed out of the studio with the suit on, so I barely knew what was going on at all outside." Eventually, he says all the time alone in the dark took a toll on him by the time filming wrapped in April. "I mean, I was really, really, really dead afterward," he says with a laugh. "I just looked at a photo of myself from April and I looked green." "The Batman" hits theaters March 4.
David Foster talks becoming a dad again at 72
It's been nearly a year since David Foster and Katharine McPhee welcomed their first child together and it seems they've survived the sleepless nights and added pressure of an infant just fine. As David, 72, recently told People, he Katharine, 37, are also still able to brush off the seemingly ever-present online whispers about their 35-year age difference. "People always make the reference with Kat and I with the age difference, but I've always said there's so many things that can bring a marriage down, and age difference is just one of them," he said. "There's so many things that can go wrong. We think we have it pretty together." As for becoming a dad again after having raised five daughters, all of whom are now grown, the Grammy-winning producer said he's loving the role — and it's nice to have a different pace of life than he did when his daughters were born. "It's just great being a dad," he said. "It's too cliché to say 'Now I have more time,' but I do: I have more time. Without any reflection on any of my other children, whom I all love equally, and equally as much as my son." David and Katharine reportedly got engaged in 2018. They tied the knot the following year.
Tyga won't face criminal domestic violence charges after arrest
Rapper (and Kylie Jenner's ex) Tyga won't face criminal charges in connection with his recent domestic violence arrest. For now, anyway. "Michael Ray Stevenson, a.k.a. Tyga, will not be charged with any criminal charges for his domestic violence case as long as he stays out of trouble legally," a rep for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office told Entertainment Tonight this week. "If not, prosecutors could end up filing misdemeanor charges," the rep added. Tyga, 31, was arrested on Oct. 12 following an argument with his ex-girlfriend, Camaryn Swanson, who alleged that he hit her. She later claimed on her Instagram Story she'd been "emotionally, mentally and physically abused." A rep for Tyga dismissed the claims as "false" at the time. According to the attorney's office rep, Tyga will still be expected to appear at a hearing and work with the authorities to equip him with skills for handling any potential future domestic disputes.
