Britain's Princess Kate turned 40 on Jan. 9. One day earlier, Kensington Palace released this beautiful new photo — one of three new portraits shared by Kensington Palace to mark her milestone birthday. The then-Duchess of Cambridge, who's wearing an ethereal gown by Alexander McQueen, was photographed by Paolo Roversi at Kew Gardens in London in November 2021. The portraits are entering the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, of which the Princess of Wales is patron.
