Robin Roberts plans to wed longtime partner Amber Laign
Robin Roberts has announced she plans to marry her longtime partner Amber Laign in 2023. Robin shared the couple's happy news during a "Good Morning America" interview with motivational speaker and author Gabby Bernstein on Monday (Jan. 2). While discussing Gabby's new book, "Super Attractor: Methods for Manifesting a Life Beyond Your Wildest Dreams," the author was explaining the value of "saying yes" when she asked Robin if there was something she's ready to be a "yes for" in the new year. "I'm hesitating because I haven't said it out loud yet … I'm saying 'yes' to marriage," Robin began. "We're getting married this year. It was something we had talked about but we had put it off, she became ill but … it is saying yes to that, and that next chapter," she continued, referencing Amber's recent breast cancer battle. The "GMA" host later shared the news on her Instagram as well, posting a clip from the show segment alongside a caption that read, "Saying YES to marriage in 2023 Always a joy to chat with @gabbybernstein…she joined us LIVE with a manifestation challenge to realize your dreams in the new year. #marriage #manifestation #loveislove." Robin and Amber, a massage therapist, have reportedly been together since 2005. In early 2022, Robin said Amber had undergone surgery and was set to begin chemotherapy. "Thankfully, the prognosis is good," she added.

Anthony Hopkins marks 47 years of sobriety, recalls past 'despair'
Sir Anthony Hopkins celebrated 47 years of sobriety over the weekend by encouraging others to seek the help he believes saved his life nearly five decades ago. "I am a recovering alcoholic," the Oscar and BAFTA-winner said in a New Year's Instagram video. "And to you out there, I know there are people struggling in this day and age of cancel and hatred and non-compromise, children being bullied. I say to this: Be kind to yourself. Be kind. Stay out of the circle of toxicity with people if they offend you. Live your life. Be proud of your life." Recalling how his path to sobriety began at a time when he found himself in a "desperate situation, in despair," the actor said he initially "didn't realize that it was a kind of condition — [a] mental, physical, emotional condition — called alcoholism or addiction" that he was suffering from. "I know nothing, except I have found a life where no one bullies me," Anthony said. Addressing young people who may be suffering at the hands of bullies, the star urged, "Don't listen to them," before singing the praises of 12-step programs that can help fight addiction anywhere on the globe. "Every city, every small city, every community, 12-step programs that can help you identify what you are. It doesn't cost a thing, but it will give you a whole new life," Anthony explained. He went on to call himself not a "do-gooder" but a "sinner" whose recovery gave him his life back. "So wherever you are, get help," he concluded. "Don't be ashamed. Be proud of yourself — whatever you do, don't let anyone put you down. Celebrate yourself as I do myself, although I know nothing." In the comments, celebs like Naomi Campbell thanked Anthony for his inspiration in their own recovery, while fellow actors including Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman and Michael Douglas sent support and best wishes for 2023.

Celine Dion's fans slam Rolling Stone for 'Greatest Singers' snub
"Insufferable" … "borderline treasonous" … "annoying." Those are just a few of the descriptors Celine Dion's fans have used for Rolling Stone's newly updated "Greatest Singers of All Time" list. Published Sunday (Jan. 1), the list notably snubs Celine, yet includes Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and other young artists with substantially less experience than Celine has. "Respectfully, not including Celine Dion, arguably the best vocal technician of all time, in this list is borderline treasonous," one Twitter user posted, tagging Rolling Stone. "Look…you can argue Celine Dion's music is not your cup of tea and that's fair. But to say that Celine Dion is not among all-time greatest singers is unbelievable," said another. According to the magazine's editors, critics considered singers' "originality, influence, the depth of an artist's catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy" in creating their list, which featured Aretha Franklin at No. 1, Whitney Houston at No. 2 and Beyoncé at No. 8. (Taylor Swift was ranked at 102.) Jennifer Hudson, Cher and Madonna, among others, all failed to make the cut.
Prince Harry says he wants King Charles, Prince William back in his life
Despite the well-publicized tension among British royals, Prince Harry says he wants the surviving members of his immediate family back in his life. "I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back," the Duke of Sussex tells ITV's Tom Bradby in a new trailer for one of two upcoming interviews pegged to the Jan. 10 release of Harry's autobiography, "Spare." Elsewhere in the clip, the prince says "they've shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile," though he doesn't specify who "they" are. "I want a family, not an institution," he says later. Speaking to Anderson Cooper in a sit-down for CBS, meanwhile, Harry says he's been "betrayed" by "briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife," Meghan Markle. :The family motto is 'never complain, never explain,' but it's just a motto," Harry tells Anderson. "They will feed or have a conversation with a correspondent, and that correspondent will literally be spoon-fed information and write the story, and at the bottom of it, they will say they have reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment. But the whole story is Buckingham Palace commenting," her continues. "So when we're being told for the last six years, 'we can't put a statement out to protect you,' but you do it for other members of the family, there becomes a point when silence is betrayal." Both interviews are slated to premiere Jan. 8, according to the BBC.
