On season 5 of "The Crown," which debuted in November 2022, Dominic West portrays Prince Charles in the 1990s. In an interview with Netflix, Dominic admitted he only sees similarities between himself and the current king from a very specific angle. "The only time I really look like Charles is from behind. 'Cause the hair is just perfect," he said.

Josh O'Connor played an adult Prince Charles on seasons 3 and 4 of "The Crown" in 2019. He opened up about playing the royal to Screen Daily, sharing, "We all have a set position on the dynamic between Charles and [wife Princess] Diana. It's been great to have the ability to either fight against that or, at times, acknowledge it and also to challenge any question of, 'Did he ever love her?' Personally I think he must have done. There's a wealth of layers and richness to Charles and Diana, and I loved seeking that out." It paid off: In 2021, Josh won best actor in a drama series at the Primetime Emmys for his performance.

Kristen Stewart famously tackled the role of Princess Diana in "Spencer" in 2021, with Jack Farthing serving as her Prince Charles. The "Poldark" actor was nervous to take the part, telling Insider, "It's obviously a very scary overwhelming idea, taking on someone like that. Trying to find your own truth in a character that everyone knows so well and is so visible and so recorded and so impersonated."

David Threlfall played Prince Charles to Serena Scott Thomas's Princess Diana in the 1993 TV movie "Diana: Her True Story," which is based on the book of the same name by British journalist Andrew Morton. At the time, Entertainment Weekly raved about David's performance, writing, "Charles … has found his dead ringer in David Threlfall. Threlfall has a horsey, long-jawed face that is similar in shape to the prince's, but the actor has brought his own witty technique to the role: not merely stiffening his upper lip but freezing it, while constantly chewing on the lower one, with the result that Charles' upper-class-twit voice always sounds faintly strangled and agonized."

Roe Hartrampf played the role of Prince Charles. "One thing I learned about Prince Charles that I wasn't expecting is about his humanity — what a good person he is at his core," Roe told Broadway.com. "I think that having maybe some of the worst years of his life play out so openly in the media gives us a certain impression of him. It's part of my job to strip away those preconceived notions and try and find the human being at the center of this character."

Erin Davie hit the Broadway stage as Camilla Parker Bowles in "Diana: The Musical," which debuted in 2021. "I think the most interesting part of [her] love story [with Prince Charles] is how hard it must have been for them to pine for each other and not be together for so long," Erin told the New York Post. Like her on-screen love, played by Roe Hartrampf, she also felt sympathetic toward the woman she portrayed and hoped the now-king and his queen consort appreciated their fictitious take on real-life events. "Our intention is not to make fun of anybody or cause tension. The musical is made with affection and love for these people and their stories. It's to celebrate them and bring joy and humor to our audience," she explained.
