JAY-Z gets candid about parenting three kids with Beyonce in rare interview

Earlier this year, JAY-Z and Beyonce's 9-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, became the second youngest person to ever win a Grammy, courtesy of her mom's "Brown Skin Girl," on which Blue sings. But as Jay recently told The Sunday Times, he and Beyonce have no intention of directing their kids toward entertainment industry careers. To him, that's simply not what matters. "Feeling loved is the most important thing a child needs, you know? Not 'Here's this business that I'm going to hand over to you, that I'm creating for you,'" said the rapper, producer and Roc Nation founder, who also shares 3-year-old twins Rumi and Sir with Beyonce. "What if my child doesn't want to be in music or sports?" he continued. "I have no idea, right? But as long as your child feels supported, and feels loved, I think anything is possible." Jay said the goal for him and Beyonce as parents, ultimately, is to "just make sure we provide a loving environment, be very attentive to who they want to be." He added, "It's easy for us, as human beings, to want our children to do certain things, but we have no idea. We're just guides." Of course, if said guidance leads one of those children to celebrate her first Grammy win by using the award as a sippy cup while wearing the late Notorious B.I.G.'s "King of New York" crown, well … go get 'em, Blue.

Rachel Bilson is happy to report she and her high school pal Rami Malek have made up and moved on after she posted an embarrassing photo of the former classmates that went viral. A few weeks back, Rachel, 39, told Dax Shepard on his podcast that she had a weird interaction with Rami after sharing the silly pic, which sent the internet into a frenzy when it showed up on her Story. Calling it "just the dorkiest picture of the both of us," Rachel said she was surprised Rami's very serious reaction to her post. ("It wasn't like, 'Hey! How are you?'" she recalled, "It was straight to, 'I would really appreciate if you take that down. I'm a really private person.'") She said she assumed he didn't like the way he looked and took it down but never heard back. "Rami and I have actually talked," the actress said on this week's "LadyGang" podcast (via JustJared). "Since that came out, he connected with me and we're all good. He was so sweet and we're totally fine now, and we talked about it and we're good." It turns out, he was focused on his Best Actor Oscar campaign for "Bohemian Rhapsody," which he did end up winning. Still, Rachel admitted she was initially "mortified" that he seemed so upset. "I had a panic attack, [and] I had to go to therapy that day and I was like, 'I'm having anxiety. I did not want this to resurface in this way. I feel so bad. Oh my god, Rami is going to think I'm doing this again and everything,'" she shared. Despite the weirdness between them, Rachel added that at least the whole thing allowed them to "reconnect." "He was so gracious and I totally understood where he was coming from and he understood me and I was just so happy we were able to squash it and move on," she said. "I get it and I totally understood. And he knew I wasn't doing it with any ill intentions."

There were a handful of moments that saved this year's often awkward Academy Awards, and Glenn Close's response to Lil Rel Howery's music trivia question about the 1988 song, "Da Butt" — complete with a dance demo — was absolutely one of them. ("This is the Blackest Oscars of all time," Lil Rel marveled after watching Glenn, 74, do "Da Butt" dance up into her table.) Glenn's deep knowledge of the history of "Da Butt," which appeared on Spike Lee's "School Daze" soundtrack, left some social media users wondering if the whole thing had been scripted, though. Turns out, the Q&A segment was semi-planned. Glenn's viral dance moment, however++++, was not. "I knew that Lil Rel was going to quiz me about Da Butt and all three guys helped me run through what I was to say," the actress later explained on Instagram, revealing her tablemates Chris Terrio, Daniel Kaluuya and Darrell Britt-Gibson had coached her on the answer. "Darrell insisted that I mention the Backyard Band, on top of E.U., Suga Bear and the whole DMV," she continued. "I had googled 'Da Butt' and watched Spike's music video so when Lil Rel asked if I could do the dance…you can actually see me think of the video. That part was completely spontaneous." She added, "Daniel, Darrell and Chris egged me on!!! It was ALL their fault." Spike, for his part, had nothing but praise for the star. "Shoutout To My Sista @GlennClose For Showing Love To SCHOOL DAZE, Shouting Out D.C.'s Own E.U. And Myself And Doing DA BUTT At The Oscars Last Night," he said in a video post after the show. Rachel Lindsay is moving on from the 'Bachelor Happy Hour' podcast

Rachel Lindsay is officially severing her final tie to the "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" franchise by ending her tenure as a host of the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast. According to Variety, the former "Bachelorette" star will appear alongside co-host Becca Kufrin in a two-part episode airing April 27 and May 4, where they'll look back on their favorite memories of the podcast's nearly 100 episodes. It's unclear how much time, if any, will be devoted to rehashing the fallout from Rachel's confrontation with Chris Harrison on "Extra" about contestant Rachael Kirkconnell's history of racist and otherwise insensitive social media posts. Chris has since stepped away from his "Bachelor" hosting duties. The original conversation sparked a conversation about inclusion and diversity that many say was long overdue. Rachel, who will continue in her roles as an "Extra" correspondent and a co-host of the "Higher Learning" podcast with Van Latham, was the first "Bachelorette" in the show's history. Variety has confirmed that other than the podcast, she has no lingering ties to the franchise.

'Another Round' director Thomas Vinterberg defends Leonardo DiCaprio's rumored remake of the Oscar-winning Danish film

Less than 24 hours after director Thomas Vinterberg's "Another Round" won this year's Oscar for Best International Feature Film, Deadline reported Leonardo DiCaprio's production company had won the rights to produce an English-language remake of the film. Fans and industry insiders have since criticized news of the planned remake, citing Mads Mikkelsen's strong performance as the main character, whose midlife crisis leads him and his friends to "investigate" an intentional life of inebriation, among other things. But Thomas is defending the idea of a remake starring Leo in the lead role. "It's an interesting artistic thing to see something grow into different versions," the Danish director told IndieWire this week. "It's in the hands of the finest actor you can get and besides being a brilliant actor, he's made very intelligent choices throughout his career. I feel there's a lot of integrity in the choices he's made. … I'm full of hope and curiosity about what they're up to," he added of the three production outfits involved in the reboot. Thomas, who noted in his Oscars acceptance speech that the sudden death of his daughter a few days into shooting helped shape what the film became, also addressed whether he or Mads might return for the English version. "My first thought would be to make a different interpretation," he said. "Asking the same actor to do a different interpretation could be a little bit confusing. But I won't be the main creative force in this. That would have to be up to the people who end up doing it."

Jason Derulo's unborn son is already showing some musical prowess

Father-to-be Jason Derulo is counting down the days until he and his girlfriend, Jena Frumes, get to meet their future son. "I think I've done so much in my life right? And I've been able to accomplish a lot so at this point in my life I'm like, 'OK, now who do I share it with?'" the singer gushed on the April 27 edition of "The Drew Barrymore Show," per People. Born Jason Desrouleaux, the singer also admitted that because he'll be the first among his siblings to welcome a boy into the family, he's excited to be able to "carry the name" into the next generation. As for his relationship with Jena, which began shortly before the first wave of coronavirus lockdowns, Jason credited timing with helping their romance along. "I was just starting to really get baby fever, I guess with age and you meet someone you really, really connect with … It happened at just the right time," he recalled. According to Jason, Jena's pregnancy is going well so far — except for the kicking. "Whenever he hears music he just starts dancing," Jason joked. "I want to do a TikTok on it because I just picture him in there just getting it." Jason and Jena announced their baby news on Instagram late last month.

In a new interview with People, a TV insider sheds more light on Carrie Ann Inaba's announcement she's leaving "The Talk" temporarily for "wellbeing" and "health" reasons. "Carrie Ann is very in tune with her body and really taking this time to focus on her health," the source confirms. "She has experienced some recent [autoimmune system] flare ups and taking this time to remove stress and focus on her body and its healing is important." Carrie, 53, suffers from multiple chronic auto-immune conditions and recently launched a platform called "The Carrie Ann Conversations" where she hopes fans dealing with similar ailments can find support. People's insider adds that Carrie, 53, "has always been positive," and hopes that her honesty about her conditions will "help] others not be afraid to ask for the time and tools they need to heal."

Justin Bieber faces a new round of backlash after his latest foray into dreadlocks

This week, a new crop of headlines about Justin Bieber's hair had us triple-checking the calendar to make sure it wasn't somehow 2016 again. Yep, having just emerged from a wave of backlash over his use of clips from speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Justin has returned to his much-maligned dreadlocks of five years ago. The singer posted multiple pictures on Instagram this week that showed off his fuzzy, new-ish looking dreads — even as he faced a largely negative response, both in the comments on his 'Gram and in headlines. Citing cultural appropriation, some detractors offered kind responses like, "Honey, I love you but this ain't it," while others were more direct. "J, please educate yourself on cultural appropriation … You shouldn't be wearing dreads," one person wrote. Responding to Justin's 2016 dreads debut, The Guardian pointed out that dreadlocks have historically been, "a hairstyle that represents a reclamation of black identity … a hairstyle of protest and beauty, a restoration of justice and rejection of western European (read: white) beauty standards." As of his second cluster of dreads posts on April 27, Justin had not yet responded to critics.

As COVID-19 vaccine eligibility continues to increase on a global scale, some of Hollywood's biggest names are teaming up with Global Citizen to raise awareness about the vaccines' safety and efficacy, while raising money to help distribute them, equitably, to people in every corner of the world. On May 8, the advocacy organization is set to air and stream Global Citizen's VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite the World, with performances by Jennifer Lopez, J Balvin, H.E.R., Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. Selena Gomez has been tasked with hosting the event, which also features appearances by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, David Letterman, Gayle King, Jimmy Kimmel, Nomzamo Mbatha, Olivia Munn and Sean Penn, plus President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, plus leaders from countries around the world. In a statement about the massive concert and fundraiser, Selena said, "This is a historic moment to encourage people around the world to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them, call on world leaders to share vaccine doses equitably and to bring people together for a night of music in a way that hasn't felt possible in the past year." While one major goal for VAX Live will be "to get two billion COVID-19 vaccine doses, tests and treatments to the world's poorest countries by the end of 2021," Global Citizen is also urging corporations and philanthropists to donate to its "dollars-for-doses" campaign, a fund specifically created to vaccinate health care workers around the world.
