Pothole problems
Arnold Schwarzenegger's recent attempt at civic good deed-doing may have backfired. On Tuesday (April 11), the 75-year-old star shared a video that showed him and a friend filling what he said were two big potholes in Los Angeles that had been "screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks." The star added, "I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, let's not complain, let's do something about it." According to the city, however, what Arnold filled with asphalt was "not a pothole."
Speaking to NBC Los Angeles, a city spokesperson explained: "It's a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCal Gas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May. As is the case with similar projects impacting city streets, SoCal Gas will be required to repair the area once their work is completed." ABC-7, meanwhile, reported that Arnold's "fix" won't work anyway, since he used asphalt and the street is made of concrete, according to a rep for the Los Angeles Department of Public Works. Despite the city's response, Arnold earned major praise for his efforts on Twitter — including a comment in which user Ross Caruso dubbed him "The Tarminator."

Brooke Shields says her mother didn't date because she 'was in love with me'
Brooke Shields' relationship with her mother, Teri Shields, was so complicated she now believes Teri, who also managed Brooke in her child star days, "was in love with" her. On "The Drew Barrymore Show," on Tuesday (April 11), Drew said her mother, Jaid Barrymore, "dated my boyfriends," and asked if Brooke ever experienced a similarly "weird situation" with Teri. "Um, no because she was in love with me," Brooke replied. "I was her main focus. Both of us were cut off from our sexuality. I was going to stay a virgin. She was going to be just Terri terrific and being there," she continued, later adding that the behavior was "so needy and weird."
Brooke — who says in her new Hulu documentary "Pretty Baby" that "The Blue Lagoon" director Randal Kleiser "wanted to sell" her "actual sexual awakening" when she starred in the film at 14 — was also asked if she'd been contacted by any directors she called out in the doc. She confirmed Randal did, in fact, reach out after the Hulu movie premiered but she didn't answer. "He wants to chat. I don't know about what, but I don't feel like bringing any of it back up again," she said. "It was about these males needing me to be in a certain category to serve their story, and it never was about me, it was not protective of me. It was fun and loving at times, but I was just there. I was a pawn, I was a piece, I was a commodity."

Prince Harry to attend father's coronation without Duchess Meghan
After months of speculation, reps for Prince Harry and Buckingham Palace have confirmed Harry will attend his father's coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6. Harry's wife, Duchess Meghan, and the couple's children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will skip the festivities and stay at home in Southern California, the Associated Press reported Wednesday (April 12). While the coronation of King Charles III falls on the same day Archie turns 6, that's probably not the only factor contributing to Harry's decision to attend the proceedings alone. Tensions between Harry and his family in England have remained high in the wake of Harry's memoir, "Spare" and the Netflix series in which he and Meghan detailed their reasons for stepping down as working royals and relocating to the United States. Among those reasons were claims of racism among the royal family — Meghan is biracial — and the British media's often racially-fueled, potentially dangerous coverage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Beyond family and foreign dignitaries, it's unclear as of Wednesday who made the cut for the coronation guest list — although a long list of stars including Adele, Elton John and the Spice Girls, have reportedly declined invitations to perform as part of the coronation events.
Ariana Grande addresses body-shaming comments
Ariana Grande used her TikTok following this week to "address concerns" about her weight and, as she put it, "talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body, and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to." In response to body-shaming comments that suggested she's gotten "too thin," Ariana explained she's in a different place, personally, from one year to the next, and that can affect her appearance. "The body that you've been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body. I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly," she said. "[I was] at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that in fact wasn't my healthy. I know I shouldn't have to explain that. But I do feel like maybe having an openness and some sort of vulnerability here, good might come from it."
She went on to advise fans to knock off the body-related chatter, in general. "We should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people's bodies, no matter what," she said, adding that "there are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful." Ariana also noted that what's intended to be helpful may not come across as such online. "You never know what someone is going through, so even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with and you never know," she said. "So be gentle with each other and with yourselves — I think you're beautiful no matter what you're going through."
Pete Davidson meets Chase Sui Wonders' family
Over the weekend, Martha Stewart praised her Easter guests Pete Davidson and Chase Sui Wonders as "a very cute couple" on social media after they visited her farm in upstate New York. According to People, Martha's not the only one getting to know the stars as an item. One insider tells the outlet Pete's already met Chase's family — they reportedly spent time together in February in Florida while attending the Daytona 500 — while another source says the actress accompanied the comic on a recent house-hunting tour not far from Martha's home in Bedford, New York. "Pete's been looking at homes in the area on and off, and Chase was with him when he viewed some properties," says the second source. Pete, 29, was first linked to the 26-year-old Harvard grad last year after the two worked together on 2022's "Bodies Bodies Bodies." While they've been photographed mid-PDA a number of times since then, neither star has publicly confirmed they're dating. As Pete recently said on the "Real Ones" podcast, he finds it frustrating when more attention gets paid to his at love life, rather than his career. Chase also appears in Pete's upcoming series, "Bupkis," on Peacock, according to People.
Janet Jackson to auction off 800 pieces from personal collection of clothing, costumes and more
More than 800 of Janet Jackson's personal items — including outfits, costumes, embellished microphones and more — are heading to the auction block next month, according to the Daily Mail. Slated for auction via New York City's Hard Rock Cafe and Julien's Live on May 21, the pieces are drawn from a range of key moments in the five-time Grammy winner's decades-spanning career, including stage ensembles from her Rhythm Nation tour, a black suede vest she wore in her 1983 "That's The Way Love Goes" video and the long-sleeved white top she wore alongside her brother, Michael Jackson in the video for their single, "Scream," from MJ's 1995 album, "HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I." Other items up for sale include the now-iconic black mesh and leather dress Janet wore at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, the singer's 2003 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and various pieces of furniture from her large collection.
