Tucker Carlson isn't ruling out a potential gig as Vice President of the United States, but he's also not lobbying for it. The controversial talk show host's name has long been discussed as a potential running mate for presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. While he doesn't think it's likely that that opportunity would come his way, he's leaving the door open for the possibility.
"It's just so unimaginable. I haven't led a life that prepares a person for politics," he told Megyn Kelly on her eponymous YouTube show.

During a recent appearance on a radio show, Donald Trump said he would consider Tucker Carlson as a running mate because of the former Fox News host's "common sense."
"That's just not how my brain works. I've never done anything like that," Tucker said when asked about the possibility of becoming the United States' next VP. "I can't imagine spending time with politicians."
The talking head went on to identify himself as a "sucker" for Trump.
"The closer I am to Trump, like if I'm in room, I always love Trump. I think it's impossible not to," he told Megyn Kelly. "He's just charming."
Ironically, private text messages revealed Tucker once felt differently: As part of Dominion Voting Systems' defamation lawsuit against Fox News, Tucker's private messages were released.
"We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can't wait," he texted an unidentified person. "I hate him passionately. … I can't handle much more of this."
He later texted, "There isn't really an upside to Trump."

Tucker Carlson "fundamentally" agrees with Donald Trump's views and is "psyched" to vote for him should he snag the GOP nomination.
"Serving in politics with anybody, that's a lot for me to think about because I just don't think I'm really suited for that," the talk show host told Megyn Kelly. "Would anyone want to see a guy like me run for office? Not really."

Tucker Carlson and his wife of 30 years, Susan Andrews, share four adult children and "many, many dogs." They don't have a life of "luxury," but they live "very, very happily," he told Megyn Kelly.
"The idea of disrupting that, I'd have to feel like, 'Gosh, I really have to do this," he said.

Tucker Carlson said he believes people become egomaniacs when they start thinking about becoming president or vice president. "I'm not thinking that way at all," he claimed.
He also said that it's not his job to "save people."
"I don't imagine that I'm some superhero. I'm just a hack who somehow endured in this business longer than most people," he explained. "But I don't think America needs me."
