The Buffalo Bills beat the Kansas City Chiefs 20-17 on Dec. 10 in week 14 of the NFL season, but the game was hardly without controversy.
With one minute and 20 seconds left in the game, Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney drew a flag for being offsides, which refs ruled negated the touchdown run he made via a jaw-dropping lateral from tight end Travis Kelce after he caught a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
"It's just tough," Pat said in a post-game press conference. "That's a Hall of Fame tight end making a Hall of Fame play that won't be shown because we threw a flag for an offensive offsides. And so it takes away not only from this game and this season but from a legendary career that Travis has had and that hurts me because I know how hard he works for it."
As reporters continued to ask about the controversial call, Pat's frustration was apparent as he continued to answer: "It's a legendary moment, man … something that only a couple people in this world would even think about doing and for [Travis] to make that play in that moment — making the catch, making a couple dudes miss [tackling him], then throwing the ball across the field to another guy and scoring a touchdown in that moment, I hope they still show it whenever he goes to the Hall of Fame because that's a legendary moment that we didn't get to really witness."
Travis also tied an NFL record during the game. (More on that coming up!)
