United Launch Alliance is a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin. According to The New York Times, the United States Space Force is counting on Vulcan — which was designed to replace two older rockets — to eventually launch spy satellites and other spacecraft important for national security.

United Launch Alliance's Vulcan Centaur rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex 41d at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Jan. 8, 2024, for its maiden voyage, carrying Astrobotic's Peregrine Lunar Lander.
