Well-wishers came out in force to support Britain's monarch as he made his most significant public appearance since announcing in early February that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
Joined by his queen and other members of the royal family, King Charles III attended Easter Sunday services at St. George's Chapel at WIndsor Castle — where his parents are buried — and appeared to be in wonderful spirits as he waved to the crowd with a smile on his face at every turn.
Charles — who has not shared what type of cancer he has, nor what kind of treatment he's undergoing — sat apart from other family members, except Camilla, inside the Easter service and also did not attend a reception or host a private family lunch following the event, People magazine reported. He did, however, shake many hands and greet members of the public during a mini walkabout outside the service.
According to the Associated Press, his attendance at a traditional royal event such as the Easter Sunday church service is being regarded as a sign that he's starting a managed return to public life.
