Eight-time bride Elizabeth Taylor once joked, "I am a very committed wife … and I should be committed too, for being married so many times." Luckily, getting married more than once in the movies tends to bring less dire consequences — and more chances to don multiple amazing gowns. That's why we're taking a look back at our favorite movie and TV stars who played brides more than once … starting with Liz, whose first big-screen bridal moment came with 1950's "Father of the Bride."
Shot when she was just 18, the classic film premiered in New York City 12 days after the young star said "I do" in real life for the first time, marrying Conrad "Nicky" Hilton Jr.
Elizabeth, who would go on to play the newlywed Cleopatra in the 1963 film of the same name, looked stunning in her lace-bedecked gown for the film, designed by Helen Rose. She looked so great, in fact, that MGM reportedly encouraged her to wear one of Helen's wedding looks for her big day in real life.

Elizabeth Taylor, wearing a gown by the same designer who handled her bridal dress for "Father of the Bride," looked stunning alongside her first husband, Conrad "Nicky" Hilton Jr., outside the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills, California, after their wedding in May 1950.

Jennifer Lopez glowed in white on her wedding day in the 2001 rom-com "The Wedding Planner," which starred J.Lo as a wedding planner who accidentally falls for the groom (Matthew McConaughey) whose nuptials she's overseeing.
Jen went for a more glamorous, sophisticated look when she returned to the screen as a bride two decades later…

As superstar pop singer Kat Valdez in 2022's "Marry Me," Jennifer Lopez wore a massive Zuhair Murad number for her big day. Thanks to its gobs of embroidery and layers of taffeta, tulle and horsehair, J.Lo needed the help of five people to zip her into the 95-pound wedding dress, according to Vogue.

In the end, Jennifer Lopez's complicated "Marry Me" wedding gown costume didn't deter her from taking another trip down the aisle in real life. Two years after she shot the film, then-boyfriend Ben Affleck popped the question (for the second time in two decades) and the couple got hitched — twice — in July and August 2022. Ben's her fourth husband.

Jennifer Aniston made her TV bride debut on the very first episode of "Friends" in the role that made her a household name. As Rachel Green in the show's 1994 pilot, she rocked a very poofy gown that her character had almost gotten married in before changing her mind and heading to Central Perk.

Jennifer Aniston went on to play a pet-loving bride opposite Owen Wilson in 2008's "Marley & Me." Her flowy, natural wedding look was a perfect match for her down-to-earth character — even in the snow.

Who could forget the totally bananas Vivienne Westwood gown Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) wore to marry Big in "Sex And The City: The Movie"? … Besides Big himself, that is. Spoiler alert — their first stab at the whole altar thing didn't work out too well.
_
Big (Chris Noth) may have left Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) at the altar in the first "Sex and the City" movie, but at least we learned Vivienne Westwood fashions move well under pressure and, frankly, look great under a barrage of battered rose petals.

In 1992's "Honeymoon in Vegas," Sarah Jessica Parker plays Betsy to Nicolas Cage's Jack. The young couple's wedding plans go off the rails in Las Vegas after Jack loses badly while gambling and his opponent will only settle the debt in exchange for a weekend with Betsy. As SJP's stolen showgirl wedding gown and Nicolas's Elvis impersonator onesie suggest, hijinks ensue.

Kirsten Dunst has also played movie brides multiple times, most memorably, perhaps when she starred as the doomed young queen of France in "Marie Antoinette." Among the movie's gorgeous costumes was the cream and gold wedding dress Marie wore to marry the Dauphin of France (Jason Schwartzman) in 1770.
It was one of many dresses that helped earn the film's costume guru, Milena Canonero, an Oscar for best costume design.

Fast forward to 2011, and Kirsten Dunst made a beautiful, if less courtly, bride in "Melancholia," which featured an image of the star in her gown and veil, clutching a bouquet of wildflowers, on its posters.

Julia Roberts was all about Southern bridal style as Shelby in 1989's "Steel Magnolias," complete with soft, romantic curls and bows galore.

One decade later, Julia Roberts returned to the screen as an altar-bound bride in a much more '90s-ready gown featuring off-the-shoulder embroidery for a low-key look in 1999's "Runaway Bride."
_
Don't be fooled by Julia Roberts' dutiful expression or her gown's innocent-looking lacework in this scene from the same flick. "Runaway Bride" sees Julia's character ditch multiple dudes at the altar before she finds Mr. Right.

Rachel McAdams has also played two quite different brides on the big screen through the years. As Allie in 2004's "The Notebook," she was gorgeously laced and buttoned up, with a flower tiara holding the gauzy veil that fell behind her shoulders.
(Neither the veil nor the gown make it much further than this scene — in which Allie, then engaged to Lon, faints after spotting an old beau's pic in the paper.)

Rachel McAdams was a movie bride once more in 2012 when she donned a fluffy champagne pink number and matching veil to marry Channing Tatum's Leo in "The Vow."

Back in the days before "Bridgerton," there was only one whispering socialite we cared about on TV and she was narrating the soapy, drama-laden lives of rich kids in the Big Apple on "Gossip Girl." It took Leighton Meester's Blaire Waldorf a couple tries to get to "I do."
If you can't tell from the miffed look on her face, the guy Blair married in this layered, floor-length gown turned out not to be the man of her dreams.
_
…That might explain why Leighton Meester's Blair went less traditional and more unique in her style choices for wedding No. 2 when she married the man we all knew she loved, Chuck Bass.

Amy Adams' most memorable on-screen bride role came in 2007's "Enchanted." It also came with a dress boasting cap sleeve puffs that appear to have been bigger than her head. Her wedding day look as princess-to-be Giselle was a far cry from her previous turn as a bride…
_
That honor goes to Amy Adams circa 2005, when she played a sisterly bride named Amy in "The Wedding Date," a role that called for something much more simple, elegant and scaled back.
