Paris Hilton is a living, breathing human, but sometimes it seems like she has more in common with the stars in the sky than with us average folks. In honor of her 39th birthday on Feb. 17, 2020, Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at all the ways the former reality star is nothing like the rest of us, starting with this tidbit about how she perceives herself: During an interview for the 2018 Netflix documentary "The American Meme," the celebutante said of life in the spotlight, "I just lived in this bubble. … The reality show world — that whole industry — you don't really grow up. You're almost stuck in this character. I [have been] a 21 year old for the past two decades. … It's like 'Groundhog Day.' Everything I do is just the same [stuff], different day." Added Paris, "I already do have a legacy, but once you start that, you just can't stop. … A lot of people don't understand that you need to be sustainable forever." She's right about that point: We definitely do not know what it's like to be trapped at age 21 forever. Now keep reading for more proof that Paris Hilton is nothing like us…

It's totally normal to roll up in a holographic BMW, right? Paris Hilton was spotted out and about in Los Angeles in January 2020 driving a custom holographic-wrapped BMW i8 Roadster. According to The Sun, the customized luxury vehicle costs about $165K. In a YouTube video uploaded by the heiress, she explained how she selected the color of her new whip: It was inspired by the outfits she wore to the Burning Man festival! If this extravagant vehicle doesn't solidify the fact that this star is definitely unlike the rest of us, then we don't know what does!

When Chris Zylka popped the question to Paris Hilton over the holidays in 2017, he didn't do it with any old ring. No, he asked her to be his wife with a Greene & Co. bauble featuring a 20-carat pear-shaped diamond worth a cool $2M. The former reality star reportedly hired 24-hour security to protect the precious bauble. (According to TMZ, the security detail was never far from the bling, though they wore street clothes to avoid being detected by potential thieves.) Back in 2013, The Hollywood Reporter explained that a bodyguard can cost between $500 and $1,000 a day, so if Paris hired only one security officer to watch over the ring, she likely spent a minimum of $182.5K during the year that she and Chris were engaged. Maybe it's for the best that they split and she's not wearing the massive rock anymore…

In 2014, Paris Hilton dropped $13K on a Pomeranian puppy from Betty's Teacup Yorkies. Try not to think about how many shelter dogs could benefit from that kind of cold, hard cash. But that's not where the extravagant behavior ends…
Paris Hilton clearly ran out of ideas in January 2015 when it came to naming the new addition to her brood of super-expensive pooches. The DJ-entrepreneur named her fur baby Princess Paris Jr. … Yep, she named her pet after herself.
While we're on the subject of Paris Hilton's dogs… In 2017, the entrepreneur took to Twitter to show off her pups' two-story, Spanish-style mini-mansion. "[It] has air conditioning, heating, designer furniture, and a chandelier," she tweeted. Meanwhile, thousands of Americans live perfectly happy lives without central air…
Several scenes in the 2013 crime-drama "The Bling Ring," which is based on a true story, are set in Paris Hilton's Beverly Hills mansion. But the house depicted in the film isn't just a set — it's Paris's actual home. The former reality star allowed director Sofia Coppola into her pad to shoot the film based on the 2009 crime spree during which a group of teenagers robbed celebrities' homes, including Paris's. The decor depicted in the flick — which includes several throw pillows printed with Paris's face — are real too! "If nothing else, when people see ['The Bling Ring'], they will want a Paris pillow," Coppola told Elle magazine. Can you ever imagine reclining on a pillow emblazoned with your own face?!
But Paris Hilton isn't spending too much time at home relaxing with her custom pillows … which she took with her to the airport in Mexico City in late 2017. In mid-2015, she told "Access" that she travels more than "250 days a year" for various DJ gigs.
Speaking of her DJ gigs, The Sun reported in 2014 that Paris Hilton banks $347K an hour per gig. (In other words, she makes as much in an hour as the average American makes in six years.) In late 2018, she told Jenny McCarthy on her Sirius XM radio show that she makes "anywhere from a couple hundred grand up to a million … to play a 90-minute set."
In February 2018, Paris Hilton took to her Instagram Story to show off her $65K custom hot pink, Swarovski crystal-encrusted Privé Porter Birkin bag. "This bag definitely makes up for the 20 #birkins the #blingring stole from me," she scrawled across one image. Fair enough? "The Bling Ring" lifted the celebutante's collection of Birkin bags during the crime spree that rocked Hollywood back in 2008.
In 2014, Paris Hilton reportedly dropped $300K on a brand new McLaren 650S Spider, but it's hardly her most impressive ride. Her bubblegum pink Bentley Continental GT is truly iconic! Over the years, she's also reportedly owned a blue Bentley Continental GT Convertible, a black Rolls Royce Ghost, a red Ferrari, a white Lexus LFA, a black Mercedes SLR, a black Yukon Hybrid and a black Cadillac Escalade. Meanwhile, we're over here dreaming about what it would be like to have even one of those rides!
Before Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka called off their engagement, the former reality star said that they'd likely have three weddings. "For my 21st birthday I had five parties, so maybe for the wedding I'll have a European one, an American one [and] one for everyone around the world," she told "Extra" in early 2018. We're not sure which is more extreme: three weddings or five 21st birthday parties! Those parties, by the way, took place in London, New York City, Tokyo, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Paris Hilton never wears the same outfit twice, she said in 2010. "I never wear an outfit more than once unless it's like a really cool pair of jeans or a leather jacket," said the celebutante. "I still have so many clothes in my closets that still have the labels on. I see them so often I think I've worn them but then I realize I haven't. So I either give them to my friends or donate them to a charity so they can auction them off." Paris finally broke her rule about wardrobe recycling in 2017 when she wore the same slinky silver chainmail Julien Macdonald minidress that she wore to one of her five 21st birthday bashes (the one in London).
In early 2018, Paris Hilton lost her $2M engagement ring while partying in a Miami nightclub. The ridiculously expensive bauble reportedly flew off her hand while she was dancing and landed in an ice bucket a few tables away. Leave it to one of the world's richest women to just somehow lose a $2 million piece of jewelry!
Paris Hilton's major oops-moment at a Miami nightclub inspired her to order three replicas of her $2M engagement ring. "I had a couple replicas made because I'm scared to go to certain countries and have this ring on," she told "Access" in mid-2018. "So I had three more of those made just, you know, for deejaying and going to certain places."
Paris Hilton hears the paparazzi in her head even when she's all alone. "It is weird. Sometimes I'll just hear clicks and flashes even when they're not happening. Just over the years, especially if I'm at, like, Cannes or something like that. When I'm walking to my hotel room and there's no one, I'll hear this noise forever," she said in the 2018 Netflix documentary "The American Meme."
Almost everyone has a phrase or two that they tend to overuse in everyday conversation. Paris Hilton's was, "That's hot!" She used the two-word exclamation so much, she actually got it trademarked in 2007 for merchandise including clothing and alcohol.
As we know from her collection of custom pillows featuring photos of herself, Paris Hilton isn't shy about having her face prominently displayed. In 2007, she wore a shirt featuring a photo of herself during the MAGIC Convention in Las Vegas. We would expect nothing less!
Celebrities are no strangers to inventing fragrances, but Paris Hilton didn't just develop a fragrance. She's developed an entire freaking fleet of perfumes (24, to be exact!) over the course of the past 15 years. ("I couldn't just have one," she told Money in late 2018 of her fragrance line. "The fans want more, so we have to meet their demands. I might have 100 one day.") Her 2017 fragrance, Rosé Rush, is the most over-the-top. The perfume — which is packaged in a bottle inspired by the $270K August Getty gown that the former reality star donned during the 2017 Hollywood Beauty Awards (pictured) — is meant to smell like rosé wine and will set you back $60 … which is perfect if you're into dropping a bunch of cash to smell like you've been at a bar all day.
According to the Library of Congress, Robert Cornelius took the first known portrait of a person back in 1839. The photo was a self-portrait… A selfie, if you will. Just don't tell Paris Hilton that! The multi-hyphenate told W magazine in April 2017 that she invented the selfie: "If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it," she said. "I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera." But that wasn't the only shocker from the profile of our all-time favorite socialite. The biggest was this revelation from the writer: "In the present day, Hilton has a total of five iPhones." Hey, you gotta save all those selfies somewhere, right?
Paris Hilton didn't just invent the selfie. She's also totally responsible for reality TV, she told In Touch magazine back in 2015. "I think Nicole [Richie] and I definitely started the whole reality TV thing," said the former "The Simple Life" star. By the way, her reality show debuted on FOX in 2003 … more than a decade after "The Real World" premiere on MTV in 1992.
Never forget: Back in 2008, Paris Hilton starred on MTV's "My New BFF" — a reality competition show centered around her search for a new pal. (Would you expect anything less from the woman who claims to have "started the whole reality TV thing"?) Ultimately, the celebutante "broke up" with winner Brittany Flickinger because she felt that the aspiring singer "was really hungry for fame and fortune." Well, that's what happens when you look for friendship on reality TV…
On the subject of Paris Hilton's old pals, her former assistant is now arguably the most famous woman in the world. How weird is that?! Before she was a household name, Kim Kardashian West worked for the celebutante arranging her closet, sorting her clothes and selling her hand-me-downs on eBay. Yes, Paris had so many clothes, she needed help keeping track of them all…
