Ready to go back in time to the 1960s for some serious laughs? Kristen Wiig leads a star-studded cast in the new Apple TV+ period comedy series "Palm Royale," which debuted in March 2024.
Her character, Maxine Simmons, is a new resident of Palm Beach, Florida, who "endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society," the streamer explains. "As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, 'Palm Royale' asks the same question that still baffles us today: 'How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?' Set during the powder keg year of 1969, 'Palm Royale' is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong."
The series is loosely based on the Juliet McDaniel novel "Mr. & Mrs. American Pie."
It also stars Allison Janney, Carol Burnett, Laura Dern, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Kaia Gerber, Julia Duffy and Bruce Dern.

"I've had the great good fortune of working with my mom several times, but I'd actually never worked with my dad," Laura told Entertainment Weekly. "So that was such a dream come true. [The production team and I] talked a lot about how I'd never worked with my dad and wouldn't that be incredible, but it was sort of filed away. And then, it occurred to everyone at the same time."
She was, however, a little nervous about asking the "Nebraska" actor. "I became like a kid not wanting to bother my dad," she added. "He was busy. And so it was also like, 'Would you want to come play for these amount of days?' And juggling his schedule. But he did, and he and I together had one of the great experiences of our life."
