An actor who starred in the Netflix drama "Fauda" has been hospitalized in Israel after suffering a serious injury while fighting Hamas near the Gaza Strip.
Ynet reported on Jan. 8 that Idan Amedi, 35, was wounded by shrapnel before being sedated and intubated at an area hospital. Though severe, his inures are not believed to be life-threatening.

Idan Amedi has been on reserve duty with the Israeli Defense Forces since Hamas launched its attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
In a video posted to his Instagram account in November 2023, the "Fauda" actor chronicled his war experiences.
"This is not a scene from 'Fauda,' this is real life," he said. "Our army was called up on Saturday morning as the events in the south of Israel began, and I wanted to tell you that alongside the horrifying and vicious attacks, wherein our friends and loved ones were murdered, our morale remains high. We fully comprehend why we are here, we are here to protect our children, our families and our homes, and I want to promise you that we will not surrender until we win."
He added, "I hope to see quieter days soon."

A reporter from Israel's N12 news channel spoke with Idan Amedi moments before the actor and reservist was injured. Idan said he and his fellow soldiers had destroyed several Hamas tunnels that contained abandoned weapons.
"I'm fine, a little tired," he said. "It's strange to see you here in the midst of this thing, suddenly, you feel so clean to me, I don't know how to behave with it."
He added, "We are working hard here for everyone's safety, and we love you."

A Jan. 8 Instagram post from the official "Fauda" account confirmed that Idan Amedi was ailing.
"Idan Amedi has been injured in action in Gaza. Idan is one of the kindest, warmest, and most passionate people, loved by all of us. His love of music is a very special part of our set," the post read. "We ask that everyone respect the privacy of him and his family at this time. Together let us pray for Idan's full and quick recovery."

Idan Amedi starred In Netflix's "Fauda" from seasons 2 to 4. The show is described as a "thrilling TV series depicting Israeli-Palestinian conflict in a new light."
In addition to Idan's acting, he is also an accomplished singer-songwriter.
