Lisa Marie Presley, who died at 54 on Jan. 12, 2023, was laid to rest at Graceland following a Celebration of Life ceremony at the Presley family compound in Memphis, Tennessee on Jan. 22, 2023.
Fans visited her grave — which is located next to the grave of her son, Benjamin Keough, who died in 2020, and across from the grave of her father, Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 — during her public memorial service at Graceland.
Weeks after Lisa Marie was buried at Graceland in 2023, her grieving family made headlines as it emerged that a legal battle had erupted between her mother, Priscilla Presley, and eldest child, Riley Keough, over her estate: Priscilla challenged an amendment to Lisa Marie's multimillion-dollar trust — which included Graceland plus a stake in the lucrative Elvis Presley Enterprises — that eliminated her as a trustee and left Riley as its sole trustee. After months of fighting and heartache, Priscilla and Riley resolved their issues: TMZ reported on May 16, 2023, that Lisa Marie's estate had paid an undisclosed sum — sources said it was in the millions — to Priscilla to settle the dispute. "The families are happy. Everybody is happy and excited for the future," Priscilla's attorney announced after the court hearing.

On July 13, 2023 — six months after her passing — the Los Angeles County Coroner finally confirmed her cause of death: An L.A. Medical Examiner document obtained by TMZ listed sequelae (which means a condition that's the consequence of a previous disease or injury) of small bowel obstruction. Soon after, more information was released, specifying that Lisa Marie had a strangulated small bowel caused by adhesions that developed after bariatric surgery she'd had years earlier, TMZ reported. The medical examiner's report further noted that Lisa Marie was prescribed opioids following a cosmetic procedure she'd undergone a few months before her death. It said she had a history of "overmedicating" and forgetting she'd taken her meds, which sometimes led her to take them again. The report further noted Lisa Marie had a history of drug and alcohol abuse.
Toxicology report findings showed therapeutic levels of Oxycodone in Lisa Marie's blood as well as a second opioid, Buprenorphine, which is used to treat opioid overuse. TMZ further explained that "opioids can cause constipation, which can lead to bowel obstruction, which was the cause of her death." Tests also found traces of the antipsychotic drug Quetiapine.
