Ten days after her tragic, unexpected death at 54, Lisa Marie Presley was laid to rest at Graceland, her childhood home, next to son Benjamin Keough and across from father Elvis Presley and his parents. The same day, the Presley family held a public memorial service on the law in front of the Graceland mansion where music stars including Axl Rose, Alanis Morissette and Billy Corgan performed and friends and family including mother Priscilla Presley, son-in-law Ben Smith-Petersen and British royal Sarah, Duchess of York shared remembrances. Ben Smith-Petersen read a tribute written by his wife, Riley Keough — Lisa Marie Presley's daughter — during the public memorial service for Lisa Marie Presley at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, on Jan. 22, 2023. In the tribute, Riley revealed that she and Ben quietly became parents. "I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters," Riley wrote in her tribute, adding, "Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I'm a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart."

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, spoke at the public memorial for Lisa Marie Presley at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, on Jan. 22, 2023. Before reading the poem "A Tribute to the Children" by George Frost, she told the crowd, "I stand here with great honor … So Sissy, this is for you with affection. My late mother-in-law [Queen Elizabeth II said] that nothing said can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments bc grief is the price we pay for love, and how right she was. … We look at Priscilla as a mother as a mother to Lisa Marie, we look to Lisa Marie and say, you lost a son. Mothers losing children, there are no words for it. So today we talk about action and action is the way we can go forward, we can light the flame. So for Riley, for Harper, for Finley, we're with you and we will help you. I will definitely be there."

Jerry Schilling — a talent manager who was a member of Elvis Presley's Memphis Mafia and has remained a close friend of the Presley family to this day — spoke at the public memorial for Lisa Marie Presley, wom he'd nicknamed "Memphis," at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, on Jan. 22, 2023. He ended his remembrance with the words, "As I was in the hospital with her father when Priscilla was giving birth, I was at the hospital with her mother when she left us. Memphis, I will always love you."
