Julia Roberts turns the big 5-0 on Oct. 28, 2017! To celebrate this milestone birthday, Wonderwall.com is throwing it back to some of the biggest moments in her life. For decades, Julia has kept us mesmerized with her megawatt smile and her iconic roles in films like "Pretty Woman," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Erin Brockovich," "Eat, Pray, Love" and more, and there's no doubt she will continue to keep us hooked (anyone else looking forward to the tearjerker "Wonder"?). This successful actress can do anything she wants to baby, she ain't lost.

At the time, her brother and sister were the actors in the family, though Julia had by this point abandoned her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian and moved to New York to kickstart her acting career. Apparently, she caught what her mother called "the family disease" — acting!

Here's a little-known fact: Julia Roberts made her first TV appearance in 1987 as a guest star on the NBC drama "Crime Story." Julia played Tracy, a juvenile rape victim in an episode titled "The Survivor." Pictured with her are actors Hannah Cox and Dennis Farina.

Julia Roberts grabbed the public's attention in her role as Daisy Araujo in "Mystic PIzza." Her character, along with those played by co-stars Lili Taylor and Annabeth Gish, slung pizzas in the 1988 coming-of-age film about an unforgettable summer of love and friendship.

Julia Roberts attended the "Steel Magnolias" premiere in New York City on Nov. 5, 1989, with legends such as Shirley MacLaine, Sally Field and Dolly Parton (pictured). Julia played Shelby, a character based on writer Robert Harling's sister, who died from complications due to Type 1 diabetes. Julia was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actress for her performance.

A blonde Julia Roberts and then-fiance (and "Flatliners" co-star) Kiefer Sutherland attended the 63rd Annual Academy Awards together on March 25, 1991, where Julia was nominated for best actress for her work in "Pretty Woman." A few months later, she called off their June wedding just three days before it was to take place — and ran off with Kiefer's close friend, actor Jason Patric, from whom she also later split.

Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett surprised the world when she appeared on stage during the country music legend's concert in Noblesville, Indiana, on June 27, 1993, and announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, my husband… Lyle Lovett." The two had just been married that night, with guests notified about the nuptials 72 hours beforehand. Julia and Lyle's romance reportedly started just three weeks earlier. Julia — who'd previously made headlines for dating not only Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patric but her "Satisfaction" co-star Liam Neeson as well as actor Dylan McDermott — kept her relationship with Lyle pretty low-key until the two announced their separation in March 1995.

Julia Roberts was nominated for best actress at the 55th Annual Golden Globe awards on Jan. 18, 1998, for her work as Julianne Potter in "My Best Friend's Wedding." The classic rom-com celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017.

Julia Roberts continued her reign as the queen of rom-coms (alongside the genre's then-king, Hugh Grant) when she played an American movie star who falls for a British bookshop owner in 1999's "Notting Hill."

Julia Roberts attended the 58th Annual Golden Globe Awards with boyfriend Benjamin Bratt on Jan. 21, 2001. The two would break up later that year after nearly four years as a couple.

Julia Roberts finally got the gold at the 73rd Annual Academy Awards. The actress's memorable performance as the titular crusader and single mom in "Erin Brockovich" led to her big Oscar win on March 25, 2001. Julia received a $20 million salary for her work in the legal drama, a first for a woman in Hollywood.

The same year she won an Oscar, Julia Roberts joined other A-listers including George Clooney and Brad Pitt in the December 2001 crime caper remake of "Ocean's Eleven." She reprised her role as Danny Ocean's wife, Tess, in 2004's "Ocean's Twelve."

Julia Roberts and cameraman Danny Moder were seen walking a dog in New York City on Nov. 24, 2002. The then-newlyweds, who'd met on the set of "The Mexican" in the spring of 2000, had just gotten hitched in July 2002 during a surprise wedding on Julia's ranch in Taos, New Mexico.

In a head-turning gown, Julia Roberts paid tribute to the late Katharine Hepburn — whom she called "an original, a classic, never to be replaced, always to be remembered" — at the 76th Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Feb. 29, 2004.

Julia Roberts made her Broadway debut in "Three Days of Rain" with fellow A-list Hollywood stars Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd. The trio attended the opening night afterparty in New York City on April 19, 2006.

Julia Roberts appeared on NBC's "Today" show on Dec. 14, 2007, to talk about her role in the U.S. policy-centered drama "Charlie Wilson's War." She had just received a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actress for her work in the film, which brought her to six nominations and three wins at that point.

Julia Roberts landed the lead role in "Eat Pray Love," the Ryan Murphy-directed film based on Elizabeth Gilbert's award-winning memoir. Julia was snapped on the set in Rome on Aug. 26, 2009. Other filming locations included New York, Italy, India and Indonesia.

At a Tokyo press conference to promote "Eat Pray Love" on Aug. 18, 2010, Julia Roberts said she was a practicing Hindu. Julia, who was raised in a Christian household, had first revealed that she worshiped at a temple with husband Danny Moder and their three children in an interview with ELLE magazine earlier that month.

Julia Roberts received the Donostia lifetime achievement award at the 58th San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain on Sept. 20, 2010. She joined an all-star list of filmmakers and actors who have received the award including Bette Davis, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Francis Ford Coppola, Meryl Streep and Ian McKellen.

Julia Roberts carried a chilled box of rotavirus and polio vaccinations by plane, car and foot to a remote village in Kenya for "Running Wild With Bear Grylls for Red Nose Day," part of a three-hour charity fundraising special that aired on May 25, 2017.
