Royal baby!
There's a new royal in the world, and his name is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. On May 6, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan announced that they had welcomed a son. "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses' son weighs 7lbs. 3oz," their @SussexRoyal Instagram said. "The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives." The baby, who the couple debuted on May 8, is seventh in line for the British throne. Harry told a reporter afterward, "This little baby is absolutely to die for. I'm just over the moon… It's been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension."

Engaged
Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost are planning to marry. The actress's publicist told The Associated Press on May 19 that the couple is engaged after two years of dating. The "Avengers" star and the "Saturday Night Live" writer-comedian were seen celebrating the news days before the public announcement. There's speculation that Colin popped the question at the Blue Hill Stone Barns restaurant in Pocantico Hills, New York, where Scarlett was seen wearing a huge ring. The couple were also overheard calling friends and family members to share the news, TMZ reported. This will be Scarlett's third marriage and Colin's first.

"The Bachelor" feud
Talk-show host Kelly Ripa and the creator-producer of the "The Bachelor" are feuding. Kelly fired the first shot on May 14 when she said of the hit ABC franchise, "It disgusts me." While speaking to the audience on "Live With Kelly and Ryan," she said she "can't stand the idea of 25 exceptional women fighting over one ordinary fella, in my opinion. You know how I feel, ladies — we are too special to be arguing over a guy. Having said that, all of you women watch that gross, gross show." Enter Mike Fleiss, who tweeted, "Easy, @KellyRipa … #TheBachelor franchise pays your salary!" Franchise host Chris Harrison also tweeted, writing, "Look out #BachelorNation @KellyRipa is coming after you and your 'disgusting' Monday night habit." To make things more awkward, Kelly didn't back down from her comments when current "The Bachelorette" star Hannah Brown was a guest on "Live" days later.

Elopement
Surprise! Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are married. The couple eloped in Las Vegas on May 1, and the wedding was officiated by, yes, an Elvis impersonator. DJ-producer Diplo livestreamed the wedding on his Instagram Stories. Joe's brothers, Kevin and Nick Jonas, served as groomsmen, country duo Dan + Shay sang "Speechless" as Sophie walked down the aisle in a white jumpsuit, and music star Khalid was a guest at the nuptials, which took place at the Chapel L'Amour inside A Little White Wedding Chapel. The wedding came just hours after the Jonas Brothers performed at the Billboard Music Awards. Elvis, by the way, serenaded Joe and Sophie with "Viva Las Vegas" after the "I dos." Reports revealed the couple plans to have a bigger wedding this summer in Europe.
Pregnant!
Another baby is on the way for Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. The actress revealed her pregnancy while showing off her baby bump at the New York City premiere of "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" on May 2. This will be the third child for the couple, who share daughters James, 4, and Inez, 2. The couple didn't formally address the pregnancy, choosing instead to let the actress's burgeoning baby bump do the talking.
Guilty plea
On May 13, actress Felicity Huffman pleaded guilty to charges concerning her involvement in a college admissions cheating scheme in which she plotted to boost her daughter's SAT scores. While addressing Judge Indira Talwani, the "Desperate Housewives" alum broke down in tears as she explained that her daughter with husband William H. Macy has a learning disability. After reiterating that her child knew nothing of the scam, Felicity pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. Prosecutors have recommended that she pay a $20,000 fine and serve four months in prison. Sentencing is set for Sept. 13.
Conversatorship changes
Pop star Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, wants to extend his conservatorship over his famous daughter and make it valid in three more states. It's currently only valid in California, where Britney lives. Jamie has told the court that he plans to file documents declaring him her conservator in Florida, Louisiana and Hawaii, three places Britney likes to visit. On May 10, Britney reportedly asked a judge to either end the 11-year conservatorship — which her dad has overseen since she had a mental breakdown in 2008 — or grant her more freedoms. The judge declined and instead ordered an independent evaluation of her situation. Britney and a lawyer for her mother, Lynne Spears, also alleged that Jamie had Britney committed to a mental health facility this spring against her will and also forced her to take drugs, TMZ reported. Britney's longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, also revealed in May that Britney's Las Vegas residency has been canceled and that she currently has no future plans to perform again. Britney then told a paparazzo that "of course" she'll perform again. She also released a few workout videos to show that she's staying in stage shape. Oh, and somewhere in there she also publicly proclaimed her love for her boyfriend, Sam Asghari.
Official!
The worst kept secret in Hollywood is not a secret anymore! More than five and a half years after they were first romantically linked, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have publicly acknowledged that they are indeed a couple. The duo made their public debut at the Met Gala on May 6 when they posed for photos together with Katie in a purple Zac Posen gown and Jamie in a black tuxedo and purple shoes that matched his girlfriend's dress. The duo has been photographed together over the years, including during a PDA-filled day on the beach last summer, but have never confirmed their romantic relationship in such a public manner. A source told E! News that the couple is "feeling more comfortable about being out in public together and not having to hide." The source continued, "They still don't want to have a public relationship, but it was a lot of effort to keep things under wraps and never be able to go out together. The burden of that has been lifted and they are feeling a lot more free to just go out and do normal things."
Baby No. 4
On May 9, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West's fourth child arrived. Their son, whom they named Psalm, was born via surrogate (a different surrogate than the one they used to welcome 16-month-old daughter Chicago.) "He's here and he's perfect!" Kim tweeted on May 10. "He's also Chicago's twin lol I'm sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her." At the time of the birth, Psalm weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces. Kim later said he is the "most calm and chill of all of my babies so far and everyone loves him so much."
Court battle
On May 6, legendary director John Singleton was laid to rest in Los Angeles in a private funeral. Attendees included Taraji P. Henson, Ludacris, Ice Cube, Tyrese, Nia Long and others. John died on April 28 following a stroke. A day after the funeral came a report that John's children plan to go to court over his will and his estate, which is reportedly worth $35 million. John's mother, Sheila, reportedly filed the will in court, but the children's argument will be simple: The will is outdated, as it was drafted and signed in 1993 when the famed director only had one child, Justice. He had seven children at the time of his death.
Baby bliss
Welcome to motherhood, Amy Schumer! The actress and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, welcomed son Gene Attell Fischer on May 5. Amy announced the news on Instagram while referencing the other big birth news that week. "10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born," she wrote alongside an image of her little boy and her husband kissing her face.
Health scare
Ric Flair was released from the hospital on May 22 after a week-long stay. The legendary wrestler had undergone surgery in Atlanta earlier that week for "ongoing health complications," his wife said. "The Naitch Is Home!!!" Ric tweeted after leaving the hospital in a wheelchair. "Thank You To All The Incredible Staff And Doctors At Gwinnett Medical Center Once Again! I Am So Thankful For All My Family, Friends, And Fans For All The Love. At This Time In My Life, I Never Take It For Granted. I Will Be Back Up And WOOOOOing In No Time!" Ric's wife, Wendy Barlow, said Ric is expected to "fully recover." Because of his health situation, he had to pull out of an event in Vegas being held in his honor.
Custody issues
Jenelle Evans and David Eason's children were removed from their home after he shot and killed their family dog. According to reports, Child Protective Services removed the former "Teen Mom 2" couple's 2-year-old daughter, Ensley, in mid-May. Barbara Evans, Jenelle's mother, is temporarily caring for the child. Recently, CPS also ordered Jenelle's 9-year-old son, Jace, to stay away from his mom's home. Jenelle's 4-year-old son, Kaiser, was removed from the home too and is currently living with his father, Nathan Griffith. Jenelle and David went to court multiple times to try to get their children back but to no avail, as of late May. David also had other legal issues he was dealing with while all this was going on.
Rehab
Heather Locklear is back in rehab. On May 15, a source told "Access Hollywood" that the "Melrose Place" alum was living in an in-patient facility. People magazine later confirmed the news. "She went back to the place she left before Christmas. She had left for three days right before Christmas and never gone back," a source told the mag. "Heather's problem is she doesn't get serious about anything. She was continuing to drink." Her drinking, the source said, was taking a toll on her family, including 21-year-old daughter Ava Sambora. "Her issue is alcohol, pills and her mental health. She doesn't want anybody to hold her accountable," the source said. "She has no job, nothing to keep her accountable. This has been tearing up her family. It's been an ongoing issue for many many years. It has been horrible for Ava." It's unknown how many times Heather has been to rehab, but People's source estimates the number is between 20 and 25.
Expecting
Keira Knightley and husband James Righton are expanding their family. The actress revealed the news when she stepped out at a Chanel cocktail party in Paris on May 2 with a new accessory: a baby bump. Keira and the musician are already parents to 4-year-old daughter Edie.
Getting political
Many of entertainment's biggest names blasted Alabama's legislature after it passed a highly controversial abortion bill this month. Lady Gaga, Reese Witherspoon, Alyssa Milano, Busy Philipps and others all spoke out against the bill, which Alabama's governor signed on May 15. That same day, Milla Jovovich revealed she had an "emergency" abortion two years ago while halfway through a pregnancy. Minka Kelly also revealed she had an abortion 13 years ago and doesn't regret it. "For a baby to've been born to two people — too young and completely ill equipped — with no means or help from family, would have resulted in a child born into an unnecessary world of struggle," she wrote on social media. "Having a baby at that time would have only perpetuated the cycle of poverty, chaos and dysfunction I was born into." Busy, who's spoken openly about having an abortion, also created the #YouKnowMe hashtag to encourage women to share their abortion stories.
