It's been 25 years since "Single White Female" debuted in theaters on Aug. 14, 1992. Bridget Fonda starred in the thriller as Allie, a down-on-her-luck New Yorker who places a wanted ad for a new roommate and ends up with Jennifer Jason Leigh's Hedy. Things take a turn for the worse when Hedy becomes obsessed with her new roomie, copying Allie's look (a unique copper bob) and even impersonating her. We've never looked at wanted ads (or stiletto heels!) the same way since. In honor of the flick's big anniversary, Wonderwall.com is paying homage to Allie and Hedy's uncanny resemblance by taking a look at some of the female stars who look alike. Keep reading to check 'em out!
Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain are well aware of the fact that they look alike. "Any day where I get confused for Jess is a very good day," the "Jurassic Park" actress once told USA Today. "She's one of the most beautiful human beings I've ever seen. We went to college at the same time in New York. She went to Juilliard and I went to NYU. It's been going on for a long time. I remember thinking that I need to meet her."
Lea Michele was compared to Idina Menzel frequently during the early years of her career — not just because of her roots on Broadway but also due to her uncanny resemble to the older star, who eventually played her "Glee" alter ego's mother.
Naya Rivera seemed to be morphing into Kim Kardashian West back in early 2014, and the reality TV star's friends and fans were not happy about it. "We all know you want to be Kim," her best friend, Jonathan Cheban, ranted at the "Glee" star in a blog post. "But you don't got it boo, and the only cover you will be gracing is the Single White Female 2 straight to DVD box set." Ouch!
Cindy Crawford's husband, Rande Gerber, has been pals and business partners with George Clooney for years. So is it any wonder the A-list actor fell for a woman (Elisabetta Canalis) who's a dead ringer for his buddy's supermodel missus?
Emily Osment took to Twitter back in 2012 to address being constantly compared to Carrie Underwood. "Stop it! Carrie Underwood looks like MEEE. Also. Hi Carrie! We have the same birthday!" she tweeted. (Their birthday is March 10, by the way — though the country cutie is nine years the "Young & Hungry" star's senior.)
"I find it a huge compliment because I think Amy's gorgeous," Isla Fisher once told "ET" of her resemblance to Amy Adams, which Hollywood finally put to use in 2016's "Nocturnal Animals."
Before she started dying her hair crazy colors and playing with bold makeup looks (like in this shot from 2004), Katy Perry looked almost identical to Zooey Deschanel. But don't tell the "New Girl" star that! "It's a little bit annoying, to be totally blunt. The only similarity that we have is that we look a little bit alike," Zooey told MTV in 2009. "It's sort of strange to be associated with someone that's doing such different stuff than me. It's weird," she added.
"I get recognized as Jennifer Lawrence. It's really kind of awkward when I have to disappoint everybody that I'm actually not her," Haley Bennett told ELLE magazine in 2016 of being mistaken for the Oscar winner.
Victoria Justice presented the award for choice sci-fi/fantasy TV actress during the 2016 Teen Choice Awards. The "Victorious" actress announced the winner as "my doppelgänger, Nina Dobrev."
Sarah Hyland dished on meeting Mila Kunis — and swapping stories about being mistaken for each other — in an interview with InStyle in 2014: "She came up to me and said she gets called me all the time too," said the "Modern Family" star. "She said that sometimes she pretends she's me because it makes her feel young. I asked if I could pretend to be her next time somebody asks me if I'm her, and she said okay."
What's better than one Carey Mulligan? Two, of course! Sadly, we'll have to settle for one Carey Mulligan and one Larisa Oleynik — at least as long as cloning humans is illegal.
Which woman is supermodel Helena Christensen and which is a brunette Cameron Diaz circa 2007?!
Before she underwent a major makeover, Khloe Kardashian looked an awful lot like the late WWF wrestler and glamour model Chyna.
America Ferrera and Jordin Sparks have always resembled each other — especially when the "American Idol" alum was in the early years of her career.
It's a shame that no one has cast Helen Hunt and Leelee Sobieski as older and younger versions of the same character!
Zoe Saldana and Jada Pinkett Smith could be sisters!
Michelle Monaghan and Ruth Wilson look shockingly similar, doncha think?!
Woah, Minka Kelly and Phoebe Tonkin sure are cut from the same cloth!
Isn't it amazing what bangs can do? Back in 2012, Carly Rae Jepsen looked like a younger version of Jessica Biel.
