Elvis Presley might be best known as a music icon and rock 'n' roll pioneer, but the singer was also a family man. Before he passed away at 42 in 1977, Elvis enjoyed a passionate love affair with wife Priscilla Presley, who divorced him in 1973, and a close bond with their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who died at 54 in 2023, leaving behind her children: daughters Riley Keough and twins Finley and Harper Lockwood, as well as granddaughter Tupelo Smith-Petersen.
One year after Lisa Marie's death on Jan. 12, 2023, we're taking a look at Presley family members then and now…

Elvis Presley was serving in the Armed Forces when he met Priscilla Beaulieu at a party in Germany when she was just 14. Young Priscilla was an Army brat with strict parents who initially discouraged the teen from seeing the singer. But her parents soon relented and the couple dated on and off for the next seven years. They married on May 1, 1967, when Priscilla was 21 and Elvis was 32 after living together at his Tennessee home, Graceland.

Priscilla Presley divorced Elvis Presley in 1973 after a string of affairs and constant touring soured the marriage. "I did not divorce him because I didn't love him. He was the love of my life, truly," she said on the U.K. talk show "Loose Women." "If anything, I left because I needed to find out what the world was like."
Priscilla went on to become an actress, businesswoman, grandmother and Scientologist. She starred in three successful "Naked Gun" films in the '80s and '90s and co-founded Elvis Presley Enterprises in 1977 after her ex's death. The company turned Graceland into one of the top tourist attractions in the United States and the estate grew to be worth more than $100 million.
In 1984, she started seeing producer-director Marco Garibaldi and in 1987, they welcomed a son, Navarone; the couple split in 2006.
Priscilla is also a longtime ambassador for The Dream Foundation, a charity that grants wishes for terminally ill adults and their families, and a longtime advocate for animal rights.

Lisa Marie Presley launched a music career in her 30s — she released three albums in the 2000s and 2010s, the last of which received critical praise — but more often made headlines for her unexpected and failed romantic relationships. In 1994, not long after getting a quickie divorce from first husband Danny Keough, the father of her first two kids, she shocked the world when she married the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Their love was not meant to last, however, and the pair divorced in 1996. In a 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Lisa Marie said the couple spent four years, on and off, attempting to reconcile following their divorce. The mother of four went on to marry and divorce actor Nicolas Cage too before marrying musician Michael Lockwood, the father of her twins, Harper and Finley, in 2006. The couple endured an acrimonious split in 2016 and both temporarily lost custody of their daughters, who went to live with grandma Priscilla Presley for a time.
In 2019, Lisa Marie wrote about seeking help for an "addiction to opioids and painkillers" that began after she gave birth to her twins in 2008. Tragically, she died after going into cardiac arrest on Jan. 12, 2023 — two days after she attended the Golden Globes (pictured here) alongside her mother to celebrate the nominations of the Baz Luhrmann film based on her father's life, "Elvis."
Six months later in July 2023, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed what killed her, announcing that she died from natural causes due to effects of a small bowel obstruction: Lisa Marie suffered adhesions caused by a known longterm complication of bariatric surgery she underwent years earlier, the medical examiner determined. Toxicology findings showed therapeutic levels of Oxycodone in her blood as well as a second opioid, Buprenorphine, which is used to treat opioid overuse, as well as traces of the antipsychotic drug Quetiapine. The medical examiner's report further noted that Lisa Marie was prescribed opioids following a cosmetic procedure she'd undergone a few months before her death.

Riley Keough is now an established actress, director and producer who's starred in a number of hit projects.
After launching her career as a model, Riley shifted to acting, appearing in several Steven Soderbergh projects including "Magic Mike," "Logan Lucky" and the television series "The Girlfriend Experience," for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination. Riley also starred in "Mad Max: Fury Road" in 2015, the same year she married Australian stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen. She's since gone on to appear mostly in indie projects though will next star in the the buzzy Amazon series "Daisy Jones and the Six," which is based on the bestselling novel of the same name. In 2022, Riley earned acclaim for the drama "War Pony," a film she co-wrote, co-directed and produced; it won the Caméra d'Or Award at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
During Lisa Marie Presley's Graceland memorial service in January 2023, Ben read a tribute on Riley's behalf in which it was revealed that they had quietly become parents to a daughter. "I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters," Riley wrote. No other details were shared at the time, but Riley opened up about motherhood — and confirmed details — the following year…

In a Vanity Fair cover story that hit the internet in August 2023, Riley Keough confirmed that she and husband Ben Smith-Petersen welcomed a daughter in August 2022 via a gestational surrogate — a choice she said she made because of health issues she's faced due to Lyme disease. "I can carry children but it felt like the best choice for what I had going on physically with the autoimmune stuff," Riley said. "I think it's a very cool, selfless and incredible act that these women do to help other people."
Riley confirmed that she and Ben had named their daughter Tupelo Storm Smith-Petersen, which includes nods to grandfather Elvis Presley — who was born in Tupelo, Mississippi — and brother Benjamin Storm Keough, who died in 2020. "It's funny because we picked her name before the 'Elvis' movie [came out in 2022]. I was like, 'This is great because it's not really a well-known word or name in relation to my family — it's not like it's Memphis or something," she recalled. "Then when the 'Elvis' movie came out, it was like, Tupelo this and Tupelo that. I was like, 'Oh, no.' But it's fine."

Elvis Presley's only grandson, Benjamin Keough (bottom right), was born in 1992 to Lisa Marie Presley and musician Danny Keough. Photos of Ben as an adult are rare, but many who knew him noted he bore a striking resemblance to his famous grandfather, Elvis Presley.

Benjamin Keough, pictured here with mom Lisa Marie Presley in Las Vegas in 2015, tragically died by suicide in July 2020. He lived a low-profile life compared to the rest of his family. Though he reportedly signed a deal with Universal and recorded his first album as a teenager in 2009, his music was never commercially released. He rarely attended public events but occasionally popped up on his mom's social media feeds, including in this 2019 photo with his siblings. In the wake of his death, Lisa Marie was "entirely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter," her rep said in a statement.

Lisa Marie Presley, pictured here with fourth husband Michael Lockwood during her third pregnancy in 2008, welcomed twin daughters Harper and Finley on Oct. 7, 2008. Twins actually run in the family: Elvis had a stillborn identical twin brother and Priscilla Presley's younger brothers are twins.

In early 2017, it was revealed that Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood and Finley Aaron Love Lockwood were living with their maternal grandmother, Priscilla Presley. The twins were removed from their parents' care in 2016 but mom Lisa Marie Presley regained custody the next year and dad Michael Lockwood secured visitation. Lisa Marie is seen here posing with her mother, Priscilla, Presley, and three daughters — Riley Keough and twins Harper Lockwood and Finley Lockwood — at a special screening of the film "Elvis" in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 11, 2022.
