Following an underwhelming performance in the Iowa caucus and seemingly no path toward the Republican presidential nomination, Ron DeSantis ended his campaign for the White House on Jan. 21.
"If there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome, more campaign stops, more interviews, I would do it," he said in a video. "But I can't ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources if we don't have a clear path to victory."
Once a darling of the Republican party and someone who many felt was the heir apparent to Donald Trump, the Florida Governor struggled to gain real traction on the campaign trail. He endorsed rival Trump.
Following his departure from the race — leaving only the former POTUS and Nikki Haley on the GOP ticket — many in the entertainment and political spheres reacted. Some were gleeful at the news, whereas others complimented Ron on his campaign.

If the press had any decency or b**** they would have asked him whether he was psychotic for promising to slit throats on day one. Is he on medication for it – declared him manifestly unfit for any office of public trust." —John Cusack
