Wonderwall.com is taking a look at some of the '80s stars who had plastic surgery that totally changed their appearance. First up is Jennifer Grey, who starred as Baby Houseman in the iconic '80s romance movie "Dirty Dancing." Just two years later, the popular actress underwent a rhinoplasty that removed the bump on the bridge of her nose, drastically altering her looks and the future of her career. Keep reading for the before-and-after photos…
Years after her 1989 rhinoplasty, Jennifer Grey admitted she came out looking "unrecognizable" and called the surgery one of the worst decisions of her life, lamenting, "I'll always be this once-famous actress nobody recognizes because of a nose job."
Meg Ryan was a fresh-faced natural beauty at the premiere of her big-screen debut, "Rich and Famous," in 1981. Throughout the '80s and '90s, Meg was a Hollywood darling, starring in numerous hit romantic comedies and dramas.

Although Meg Ryan (seen here during New York Fashion Week in 2018) has never confirmed or denied having plastic surgery, she barely looks like the woman she was in the '80s. Though Meg still looks radiant, experts have speculated that she's had rhinoplasty, a possible face lift, laser resurfacing, plenty of facial fillers and Botox.
In the 1980s, Janet Jackson appeared on TV shows including "Diff'rent Strokes," "The Love Boat" and "Fame" (seen here). She was also a burgeoning recording star whose third album, "Control," topped the charts in 1986. While Janet had already had a nose job by 1982, the young star's appearance was still (mostly) natural.
Janet Jackson (seen here in late 2018) looks significantly different than she did in the '80s. She appears to have undergone additional rhinoplasty to narrow and reshape her nose. It's possible Janet had a face and brow lift since her eyebrows seem to be much higher than they were before. Experts have also speculated that she's had cheek implants, facial sculpting, Botox and lip injections.
Of course, Janet Jackson wasn't the first member of her family to take plastic surgery to the extreme. Her brother, the late Michael Jackson, completely changed his appearance from the beginning of his career to the end.
Michael Jackson, seen here on May 23, 2008 — just a little over a year before his death — suffered from a disease called vitiligo which caused drastic discoloration over most of his body. In addition to having much lighter skin — he bleached his skin to create an even complexion — Michael had a series of nose jobs that left his nose permanently weakened and distorted. He also appears to have had cheek implants, a chin implant, facial sculpting, hairline lifting and more. Throughout his life, Michael remained private and never confirmed his plastic surgery.
Michael Jackson's former mother-in-law (and Elvis Presley's ex-wife), Priscilla Presley, was also a star throughout the '80s. Her credits from the time include the TV movie "Love is Forever," the drama series "Dallas" and the comedy film "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!"
Priscilla Presley, seen here in February 2019, doesn't look anything like she did in the '80s. The star, who's now in her 70s, appears as if she's had quite a bit of work done. Experts speculate she's had rhinoplasty, a face lift, laser resurfacing, lip injections, fillers and possibly cheek implants. Is it just us, or does Priscilla kinda sorta look like singer Lana Del Rey here?!
Daryl Hannah (seen here in 1983's "Reckless") was a flaxen-haired beauty who starred in numerous films throughout the '80s, like "Blade Runner," "Splash" and "Steel Magnolias."
Today, Daryl Hannah isn't just an actress but a producer and director who's undergone something of a physical metamorphosis throughout her career. In 2012, Daryl was spotted with a much different look. Sporting unnaturally full cheeks, overly plumped lips and narrower eyes, it seemed that an attempt to appear more youthful had backfired. Thankfully, Daryl (seen here in 2018) has since taken a different approach and has a much softer appearance now, although it's been speculated that she's still using fillers and possibly Botox to keep her beautiful 57-year-old face wrinkle-free.
In 1986, Mickey Rourke was a certified Hollywood heartthrob. Seen here in "9 1/2 Weeks," Mickey's brooding good looks and totally natural pout made him one of the most desirable leading men on the big screen.
Mickey Rourke (seen here in 2019) is totally unrecognizable from his former self. In the 1990s, the sex symbol made a dramatic career shift by becoming a boxer, which led to numerous facial injuries. The combination of scar tissue and later plastic surgeries to repair the damage, as well as what appears to be a face lift and some strategically placed fillers, left Mickey with an entirely new appearance.
Melanie Griffith was a leading lady in Hollywood throughout the '70s, '80s and '90s. Seen here in 1987, Melanie was known for her bubbly on-screen persona and sex-symbol status throughout her career.
In the late '90s, Melanie Griffith's appearance began to change as she explored treatments like fillers and Botox to combat the signs of aging. Melanie admitted in 2017, however, that she went "too far" and wasn't happy with the way her face looked. She's also admitted to having breast implants after filming "The Bonfire of the Vanities" because she felt so self-conscious about her looks. Seen here in 2018 looking like a completely different person, it seems like Melanie's still using fillers to plump her face and lips. There's also speculation that she had an eye lift.
During the 1980s, Joan Van Ark was famous for her roles on TV series like "The Love Boat," "Knots Landing" and "Dallas." The pretty blonde actress was once considered one of the most beautiful women on television.
Joan Van Ark has reportedly invested in plastic surgery treatments in an effort to look more youthful. Experts say the actress, who's in her 70s, appears to have had face, neck and eyelid lifts. It also looks as if she's had facial and lip fillers.
"Rocky" star Sylvester Stallone wasn't called the Italian Stallion for nothing. The handsome actor, seen here in 1981, had a face fans adored — making it easy to see why he was a top action star of the '80s.
Now in his 70s, Sylvester Stallone has aged well, but that didn't come naturally. After getting punched in the face one too many times while filming "Rocky" and its sequels, Sly was left with some damage that needed repair. Along with reconstructive rhinoplasty, Sly's also reportedly undergone several nips and tucks around his neck, jawline, eyelids and eyebrows. Looking at the fullness of his cheeks, it's also possible that he's used fillers and had cheek implants.
By the '80s, Cher was already an established music star and Hollywood actress. In fact, in 1988 (seen here), Cher became an Academy Award winner for her performance in the romantic dramedy "Moonstruck." At the time this picture was taken, Cher was 42 and still looking fabulous.
Now in her 70s, Cher's clearly had quite a bit of work done to maintain her looks. She's always been open about her procedures, which include face and brow lifts, rhinoplasty and liposuction. She's also a fan of Botox and injectable fillers to keep her face smooth.
In 1987, Tiffany Darwish — best known as just Tiffany — burst onto the pop music scene and quickly became one of the hottest performers of the year. Known for her flowing red hair, the "I Think We're Alone Now" singer wasn't just a radio favorite but a beauty icon.
While it's entirely possible Tiffany Darwish has amazing genetics, many have also speculated that she's had a few procedures to keep her face looking youthful and radiant. The 46-year-old singer, whose last album, "A Million Miles," came out in 2016, could easily pass for 30. Tiffany — who's admitted to getting breast implants — reportedly also had rhinoplasty to narrow the bridge of her nose ever so slightly and used Botox and fillers to keep her face plump and wrinkle-free.
