Gwyneth Paltrow confirms she was trolling Martha Stewart with jail bird cake post
While promoting her new "Sex, Love & goop" series on Oct. 21's "Watch What Happens Live," Gwyneth Paltrow also shared a number of revelations about her past. But none were quite as much fun as the "Iron Man" star's confirmation that she did, indeed, mean to troll Martha Stewart when Gwyneth's Goop site posted a jail bird cake recipe a few years back. (Martha, of course, was infamously sentenced to five months in federal prison in her 2004 insider trading scandal.) While playing "Plead the Fifth," Gwyneth was asked about a 2014 food pairings piece Martha did called "Conscious Coupling." That was the same year, of course, that Gwyneth and Chris Martin announced their split after 10 years of marriage by saying they were "consciously uncoupling," though you wouldn't know it from Gwyneth, who simply cracked up laughing when she heard Martha's name on "WWHL." "And very soon after [Martha's piece ran], Goop featured a recipe for a 'jail bird' cake," Andy Cohen reminded his guest, per TooFab. "Was Goop trolling Martha Stewart with the cake recipe or did we make this up?" Gwyneth smiled and confirmed Andy's suspicion with a "yes." Hey, at least it was retaliatory.

Beyonce quashes Kim Kardashian feud rumors with happy birthday post
Kim Kardashian West turned 41 on Oct. 22, inspiring happy birthday wishes from friends and family across the interwebz. Her well-wishers included Beyoncé, who posted an adorable baby pic of the SKIMS creator on beyonce.com, along with an all caps, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM KARDASHIAN" message. While Bey's homepage b-day posts have become a staple update on her site — Doja Cat and Snoop got birthday love from Bey on Oct. 21 as well — Kim's post also reads as more evidence the rumored feud between Bey and Kim is over … if it ever existed. Whispers about a disconnect between the stars started after Kim's now estranged husband, Kanye West, griped mid-concert (at least twice) about Bey and Jay having missed 'Ye and Kim's 2014 wedding. The feud rumors intensified a few times after that, largely (if not solely) for problems aired by Kanye. By 2018, the group appeared to have patched things up, but Kanye's support of Donald Trump is said to have driven them apart again at some point. The political leanings of Kim's now ex, however, didn't stop Beyoncé from sending her a massive pile of goodies from her Ivy Park x Adidas collection in 2020.

All the details on Paris Hilton and Carter Reum's over-the-top wedding registry
With just a few weeks to go before Paris Hilton is slated to say "I do" to Carter Reum, the bride's Gearys Beverly Hills wedding registry has been unveiled and it is … amazing. By amazing, of course, we mean exuberantly over-the-top. According to the Daily Mail, the Paris and Carter have requested more than $61,200 worth of gifts, many of which fall into the housewares and table settings departments. (Does this mean a second season of "Cooking With Paris" is in the works?) Among the most noteworthy items on the list is the Hermès Mosaique Au 24 Platinum line, for eight place settings. That includes goodies like $200 mugs, a $710 trinket tray and a $305 creamer, all of which pale in comparison, price-wise, to goodies like the 8 X 10 picture frame that runs for $3,200 (hey it's silver!) and and the $895 Andrew Pearce salad bowl. (The happy couple would also love to own matching $85 salad servers.) Other tidbits on the list include a 5×7 Buccellati picture frame for $2,300 and nearly $8,000 worth of vases … and by "vases," we mean two. Paris, 40, was feted by her mom, Kathy Hilton, over the weekend, with a bridal shower. Guests reportedly enjoyed a "Paris in Wonderland" theme and bubbly from a Moet Chandon vending machine.

Alec Baldwin, more stars react to fatal on-set shooting of Halnya Hutchins
The death of cinematographer Halnya Hutchins on the set of the forthcoming Western, "Rust," shook Hollywood on Oct. 21. The rising star film pro died after being shot "when a prop firearm was discharged" by Alec Baldwin on set outside Santa Fe, New Mexico. Director Joel Souza was also injured in the incident, which left Alec visibly shaken and tearful in photos taken that day. "There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours," Alec later said in a statement. He reportedly told authorities he was given a "hot gun" that he believed to have been loaded with blanks. "I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family," his statement continued. "My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna." Joe Manganiello, who says he worked with Halyna on "Archenemy," shared on social media that he was "in shock" after hearing of her death and remembered her as "an incredible talent & great person." On-set deaths are rare in TV and movie history, but far from unheard of, as this week's incident painfully reminded so many. The family of Brandon Lee, who was killed at age 28 on the set of "The Crow" after being shot by a prop gun, posted, "No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period."
Peter Scolari remembered by 'Newhart' co-stars: 'No better partner'
"Bosom Buddies" and "Newhart" star Peter Scolari passed away on Oct. 22 after a two-year battle with cancer, according to Variety. His death at age 66 sparked a wave of tributes as friends and former costars like Bob Newhart shared remembrances of the Emmy-winning star, who also appeared in multiple Broadway productions over the course of his career. Bob, who remained close with Peter for decades after "Newhart," told USA Today, "I knew that Peter was sick, but his death still comes as a great shock. We were friends and colleagues for over 40 years. Julia [Duffy] and Peter, as a vacuous couple [Stephanie and Michael], were an essential part of the success of 'Newhart.' In life, he was a fantastic person, and it was a joy to work together. He will be sorely missed and his passing at 66 is much too early." Julia, meanwhile, tweeted out a photo from the show of the two ballroom dancing. "No better partner," she captioned the shot, along with an emoji of a broken heart.
Adele has Celine Dion's used chewing gum framed in her house
Adele's Celine fandom will go on — in the form of the Canadian crooner's used gum. Vogue cover girl Adele recently sat down with the fashion mag for its "73 Questions" video segment, where she was asked about her most prized possession. Adele's answer? Celine Dion's gum. "It's pretty amazing," she told the interviewer. "James Corden, who's a friend of mine but also does 'Carpool Karaoke,' which I did, he did it with her and knew how much of a fan of hers I was. And so he made her spit her gum into a piece of paper and framed it for me." Laughing, she concluded, "And it's my proudest possession!" James later confirmed that it was "a true story," telling his "Late, Late Show" audience on Oct. 21, that he had to stop Celine from doing "the fold," i.e., folding over the paper she'd spit the gum into. "I said, 'I got it, I got it, I got it,'" he recalled, noting that when he asked his producer to hang onto it and keep it "super safe," she looked at him like he'd "lost his mind." James also said the framed gum was a birthday gift for Adele. "She's a difficult person to buy for," he added. "A candle doesn't cut it!" Adele covers both American and British Vogue this month. "30," her first studio album since 2015, is out Nov. 19.
Michael J. Fox says paparazzi bullying sparked him to reveal Parkinson's diagnosis
Ahead of his foundation's 20th anniversary celebration this weekend, Michale J. Fox opened up to ET about his decision to go public with his Parkinson's disease diagnosis. "It was seven or eight years after I had been diagnosed … [and] the paparazzi and stuff, they would stand outside my apartment and heckle at me, like, 'What's the matter with you?'" Michael, 60, told the outlet this week. "I said, 'I can't be making my neighbors deal with this,' so I came out, and it was great. It was a great thing." The "Back to the Future" star was diagnosed with the degenerative disorder in 1991, but spent much of the '90s keeping the disease private. When he revealed his diagnosis in 1998, he recalled being stunned by the support he received. He also realized he could use his platform to help push forward new research that might help others — which he did. As of 2021, the Michael J. Fox Foundation has reportedly raised as much as $1 billion for Parkinson's research. "It was a great surprise to me that people responded the way they responded," he said. "They responded with interest, in the desire to find an answer to the disease, and then I saw that as a great opportunity. I didn't get put in this position to squander it." The Michael J. Fox Foundation's anniversary bash is slated for Oct. 23, with performances by Sting and Brad Paisley.
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's 'insane, dangerous' love story heads to the big screen
Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne are getting the biopic treatment — with music from Ozzy's band, Black Sabbath — courtesy of their kids' production company. On Oct. 22, the couple told Variety Jack Osbourne and Aimée Osbourne's Osbourne Media is producing a feature film focused on the long, if tumultuous romance between Ozzy, 72, and Sharon, 69. "Our relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together," Sharon told the outlet. Ozzy met Sharon in 1970 when Sharon's dad was managing Black Sabbath. Sharon started dating the rocker and managing his solo career around 1979, when he was fired from the band. They were married in 1982 and went on to share three kids, Kelly, Jack and Aimée. Sharon left her husband in 2016, reportedly because he'd been unfaithful (Ozzy later said he "realized" he'd been "an idiot"), but the split only lasted a matter of months.
