Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first dance song revealed
Meghan Markle was beaming throughout her wedding ceremony over the weekend, so it makes sense that when she and her new husband, Prince Harry, took to the dance floor for the first time as a married couple, they wanted to sway to what Meghan once called her "happy song." The tune, which Meghan referenced in a 2016 interview, was Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)," an uptempo '80s hit that People notes would likely have gotten all 200 reception guests up on their feet and ready to enjoy the party — a more relaxed affair than the lunch Queen Elizabeth hosted earlier that day. Looking ahead, the bride and groom aren't quite done with the week's royal festivities just yet. On Tuesday, May 22, the two are slated to celebrate Prince Charles' 70th birthday and patronage at a party that will mark their first engagement as a married couple.

Paris Jackson opens up about Jackson family drama
When Billboard Icon Award winner Janet Jackson took the stage to perform during the awards show over the weekend, her niece, Paris Jackson, was not there to support her — a fact that earned Paris some criticism on social media. Paris did, however, point to a relative's sweet post about the performance, adding "ditto" to his message, which read, "Couldn't be more proud of my aunt for not only delivering a stellar performance but also showing people greatness is ageless. Congrats on your Icon award." Later, on Instagram Stories, Paris tried to remind the public that the drama happening in the Jackson family at any given time is just like the drama that goes down in a regular family — it's just more public, through no doing of her own. "Dear social media followers, friends, stalkers, lovers and haters, and fellow moonwalkers: Please do not tell me/demands/try to control how I handle my relationship with the people in my life, specifically my family," she wrote (via E! News). "As amazing and as s—– as things can be, it is no one's business but ours. I understand that some of you feel some sort of connection or need to be a part of our lives considering you watched us grow up. However, I am handling my situation exactly how my father did. And I am happy keeping it that way. I will always have love and respect for my family. ALWAYS. There is nothing more or less than that, that you need to know." She continued: "Thank you for understanding. … Every family has their moments of trauma, heartbreak, separation, love, oneness, tribe, pain, everything. EVERY FAMILY. My family, specifically, and a good number of others…well, our drama is broadcasted worldwide through media. But that doesn't mean our family issues are any different from yours. Ours are just made public. Every level has another devil. Every life has their own s— to deal with. We ain't inferior or superior to y'all. We're all f—— human. So let's act like it. I appreciate any and every person reading this and I'm grateful for everything in my life, positive and negative." Last month, the 20-year-old slammed family members who were voicing concern about her to the press, telling them that if they were worried about her, they should try calling her.
Beyonce buys a church in New Orleans
New Orleans regular Beyonce may be putting down more roots in the city her sister, Solange Knowles, now calls home. According to TMZ, Bey recently purchased a stone church in New Orleans' Garden District, just around the corner from a popular uptown shopping strip. Built in the early 1900s, the 7,500 square foot building has reportedly not been used as a place of worship for many years. The purchase actually marks's Queen B's second such real estate move in the neighborhood. Back in 2015, she and JAY-Z reportedly bought a larger church-turned-mansion, though they have not reportedly lived there. In addition to her visits to Solange, Beyonce has referenced New Orleans and New Orleans music in her own work regularly in recent years, including Crescent City rapper Big Freedia's voice on "Formation" and featuring music from the Rebirth Brass Band's classic song, "Do Whatcha Wanna" in the opening sequence during her Coachella performance.
Kanye West is hiring a publicist
The man who recently said "slavery was a choice" is looking for someone to manage his public relations needs just weeks after he reportedly cut ties with his manager and other close advisers. No word on whether the lucky new employee will be responsible for monitoring press around Kanye's "real-time" philosophy book or that pesky OSHA investigation , but hey, a gal or guy can dream.
Kelly Clarkson eschews BBMA 'moment of silence' in favor of a 'moment of action'
When Kelly Clarkson opened the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 20, she was apparently expected to ask for a moment of silence in honor of those affected by the deadly shooting at Santa Fe High School that left 10 people, mostly children, dead and injured 13 others. That's not what she ended up doing. "Before we start the show tonight there's something I'd like to say," Kelly announced. "There's something I would like to say about the tragedy Friday at Santa Fe High School. I'm a Texas girl and my home state has had so much heartbreak over the past year and once again y'all we're grieving for more kids that have died for … no reason at all. And tonight they wanted me to say that obviously we want to pray for all the victims, we want to pray for all the families. They also wanted me to do a moment of silence and I'm so sick of moment of silence, my God, it's not working, like, obviously. Why don't we not do a moment of silence?" she suggested. "Why don't we do a moment of action? Why don't we do a moment of change? Why don't we change what's happening? Because it's horrible. And mommies and daddies should be able to send their kids to school to church to movie theaters to clubs. You should be able to live your life without that kind of fear so we need to do better we need to better. We're failing or children, we're failing our communities, we are failing their families. I have four children, I cannot imagine getting that phone call or that knock on the door," she continued. "So instead of a moment silence, I want to respect them and honor them with tonight y'all let's in your community, where you live, your friends, everybody let's get a moment of action. Let's have a moment of change." Kelly, who was born in Ft. Worth, has said she owns multiple guns, telling NPR in 2012 she even sleeps with one, according to the New York Times. She's also spoken out in support stricter gun laws, telling Amy Schumer on Twitter in 2015, "As a gun owner I feel like people should have 2 take a gun course & have background checks before they can buy 1. #logicpartyof1." Later in the show, Shawn Mendes and Khalid performed alongside a choir from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the Parkland, Fla., school where a mass shooting this year sparked a movement that resulted in the March for Our Lives demonstration.
Sofia Richie brings Scott Disick along to support Lionel Richie at 'Idol' finale
Is Lionel Richie changing his tune about Sofia Richie's relationship with Scott Disick? Both Sofia, 19, and her 34-year-old boyfriend, Scott showed up to support Sofia's dad at the taping of the "American Idol" finale on Sunday, May 20. And while Scott and Lionel weren't exactly photographed high-fiving, Sofia and Lionel seemed to be in good spirits when they shared a hug before the show got underway, according to the Daily Mail. "When you're 19 you know everything," Lionel said when asked about his daughter's relationship in February. "Is it going to be for life? I don't know. But for right now it's just a phase and I'm going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink and not make too much noise."
Katy Perry buys a round of drinks for her audience in Santa Barbara
There's no place like home — especially when the first round of drinks is on Katy Perry. At the taping of this week's "American Idol" over the weekend, Katy chatted with ET about her Saturday, May 19, concert in her hometown of Santa Barbara. The show was a benefit, with all proceeds, including Katy's, earmarked to fund relief efforts for damage sustained by the wildfires and mudslides that hit the region in January. Apparently, generating money for a good cause wasn't enough for the singer, who found one more way to show her love for her fellow Santa Barbarans. "Last night I was doing a show in Santa Barbara for the mudslide relief in Montecito, and there's a lot of guys who are there 'cause I think they want to be, but I know that they're usually there to support their wives or girlfriends or kids," Katy told ET. "I'm like, 'You know what? I'm opening up the bar and buying everyone a beer!' So all the men — even my own sister's husband — left and they all came back double fisting. It was amazing." Asked what the tab finally added up to, Katy joked, "I think they're still crunching the numbers."
Miley Cyrus accused of perjury in dog bite lawsuit
Did Miley Cyrus lie in the midst of legal proceedings to protect her older sister? According to The Blast, model named Yolande Ngom sued Brandi Cyrus in 2014 on grounds Brandi's German Shepherd, Feather, but Yolande at the apartment complex where Brandi lived. Because Miley paid the rent there, Yolande's lawyer wanted to depose the singer about the alleged dog bite incident. Miley tried to avoid the deposition, telling the court she shouldn't have to make a statement under oath because she had no information about what happened and claimed she hadn't met the dog before it allegedly bit Yolande and hadn't been the condo at the time when Brandi lived there. Yolande's lawyer later dug up a video Miley uploaded to social media that showed the pet lover with Brandi's dog two years before the alleged bite. In the video, Miley pets Feather and says she's obsessed with Brandi's pooch. Now, Yolande claims Miley amended her original declaration to say that she had, in fact, visited the condo when Brandi lived there and, having seen the video, had her "memory somewhat refreshed" and realized her timing around meeting the dog may have been off. "I do not, and cannot, remember every specific video that I have made," she said in recently filed documents, which also state that because of her "lack of memory," she was actually telling the truth when she said she hadn't met the dog. Yolande's legal team now claims Miley and Brandi are "continually abusing the discovery process in the lawsuit" that Miley perjured herself and that Miley's mom, Tish Cyrus, perjured herself about the dog incident as well. A hearing is scheduled for June 8 at which a judge will decide whether Miley will finally be deposed for the case.
