Kim Kardashian West hit with backlash after promoting appetite suppressant

Kim Kardashian West probably made six figures for one Instagram post this week but she may have lost a chunk of her fan base in the process. The post involved a photo of Kim sucking on a lollipop that turned out to be a diet aid. "#ad You guys… @flattummyco just dropped a new product," she captioned the shot, which was deleted on Instagram, although a version remains on her Instagram Stories, according to The Sun. "They're Appetite Suppressant Lollipops and they're literally unreal. They're giving the first 500 people on their website 15% OFF so if you want to get your hands on some … you need to do it quick! #suckit." It didn't go over so well. TV presenter Jameela Jamil was along those who slammed her for the post. "No. You terrible and toxic influence on young girls. I admire their mother's branding capabilities, she is an exploitative but innovative genius, however this family makes me feel actual despair over what women are reduced to," she commented, adding, "MAYBE don't take appetite suppressors and eat enough to fuel your BRAIN and work hard and be successful. And to play with your kids…. And to have fun with your friends. And to have something to say about your life at the end, other than 'I had a flat stomach.'" Other users chimed in, too. "Please tell me this is a joke and you wouldn't actually promote an appetite suppressant with how much influence you have," wrote one. Another wanted to know why Kim would go straight for the diet tip rather than posting about something less insidious. "Surely you would recommend a healthy lifestyle like @kourtneykardash and @khloekardashian with young people already under pressure to look a certain way this just promotes eating disorders?!" Among the many other furious responses was one in which the commenter slammed Kim's parenting skills: "You should be a ROLE MODEL! NOT advertising and praising disordered eating habits! Meal replacement lollipops, REALLY?! @kimkardashian You're a mom not!" Role model or not, Kim, like other celebs, is raking in quite a bit of cash by leveraging her social media for dinero. Earlier this year, Bella Thorne revealed Instagram posts basically allowed her to buy her first house.

Decades after Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise adopted their son, Connor, and daughter, Isabella, Nicole is supporting Isabella, now 25, as she embarks on an adoption process of her own. "Isabella has her heart set on giving a child a chance like she had. Nicole has been pivotal in the process, pouring her energy into supporting Isabella and Max [Parker, her husband]," an insider tells InTouch. Nicole has reportedly covered the cost of pre-adoption therapy for her daughter and son-in-law; according to InTouch, she also bought Isabella and Max a 50-bedroom house. This month, the actress is slated to fly to London to visit the couple. "She will help them finalize papers and oversee everything, as well as give as much emotional support as she can," said the source.

Hilary Duff has a serious bone to pick with another resident in her luxury apartment building — and she's not holding back. No, seriously. Girl. Is. MAD. On Wednesday, May 16, the "Younger" star took her gripes about the neighbor's smoking habit, among other things, to Instagram Stories. Calling him out by name — and by an unprintable anatomical man-part she emphasized with eggplant Emojis (ahem) — Hilary went ballistic about how spoiled-rat party habits were ruining her life. Behold: "Calling all New Yorkers with a—— neighbors—really open to any advice you have. My neighbor smokes cigarettes and weed all night long. My apartment reeks. Seriously, what do I do?" That's the nice one. "We know your parents pay your rent. We know you've never worked a day in your life — must be nice," she continued (via GuestofaGuest). "Have some respect for your neighbors who work hard to live in that building. Don't be a d— dude—and put your trash down the shoot." Hilary went on to announce: "Worked 15 hours yesterday and back at work again at 5:30 a.m. This is the real world Dieter the [eggplant emoji]. Your smoking ain't delicious," before posting screenshots of his private Instagram account, onto which she'd added more eggplant Emojis and the words, "Found youuu. I know [you're] still sleeping. I really hope your [hangover] hurts." She also helpfully suggested, "get a vape." Finally, Hilary made this request: "And another thing, stop breaking all your furniture when you fight with your girlfriend or boyfriend … it scares me and my kid … therapy is cheaper." According to the blog Guest of a Guest's sources, Hil's neighbor is simply "a social butterfly who happens to throw a late-night after-party (or two) every once in a while."

Probably safe to say Lindsay Lohan's Los Angeles days are over for good. The actress is still living in Dubai but called into "The Kyle and Jackie O" radio show this week from New York City, where she's visiting family. Asked about her former home — circa the early 2000s, when she had a little habit of getting in trouble with the law (and with Paris Hilton … and a variety of other folks) — Lindsay assured the hosts Los Angeles is not for her. "I'm terrified of going to L.A. Just landing at the airport scares the s— out of me," she admitted (via the Daily Mail). Part of her issue with being there, she added, is that nobody seems to be willing to forgive and forget her bad behavior of yore. "When I do something good, they [the press] just bring it up," she said. "I'm nearly 32 years old. This is so long ago." Speaking to W magazine in February, she explained what she likes about living in Dubai. "There's a certain calmness that I find there. There's no paparazzi, no cameras. That's a big deal for me," Lindsay said. "I do really appreciate having the life where I can just go outside and not have to worry."

Jennifer Love Hewitt apologizes for 'looking like a hot mess' on the red carpet

Jennifer Love Hewitt did look a little uncomfortable at the Fox Upfront Presentation in New York City this week and thanks to her Instagram Stories, now we know why. "It has been a really intense couple of days. Like, so great, so blessed — but intense," she said in a post on Tuesday, May 15 (via E! News). "We go to the Upfront yesterday and nobody tells me the day is going to be like 12 hours long and the humidity is going to be almost 100 percent in New York City. So, I just have to apologize. Wearing a black suit? Not a good idea. Not wearing enough hairspray and teasing in my hair? Also a bad idea." She went on to tell her followers and fan how sorry she was for, well, not looking perfect. "I just have to apologize for how wrecked I look in all the pictures that have come out. I was literally melting. By the time I got to the red carpet, I was honestly melting," she said. "My hair was flat, my makeup was running off my face and I looked like I had completely forgotten I was an actress in this business who is supposed to look [perfect] when you step on the red carpet." Jennifer went on to assure followers, "That is not what I'm going to look like on the show," referring to her new series, "9-1-1." It seems Jen had a rough night thanks to her two toddlers, who kept her up all night before the event. "It was our first time traveling with them. Traveling with toddlers … wow. I had no idea," she said. "I mean, I waited this long because I knew that it was going to be hard. First of all, let me say: My kids were ballers. Amazing! They did a great job. My husband is a saint. He really held it all together." After promising she was also going to get back to "killing my boxing workouts again" and apologizing one more time for "looking like a hot mess on the red carpet," she said she was "happy to be home," even though "she had a blast" on the trip. After Rita Ora's Charli XCX, Bebe Rexha and Cardi B collaboration, "Girls" was slammed as being "dangerous" and "tone-deaf," Rita apologized, saying she'd written the song, which goes into detail about women kissing women, about her own "journey" and experiences. Now, Cardi B is apologizing, too. "Listen to 'GIRLS' by Rita Ora ft me @BebeRexha @charli_xcx .We never try to cause harm or had bad intentions with the song .I personally myself had experiences with other woman … with a lot of woman ! I though the song was a good song and i remember my experience [sic]," she tweeted (via E! News). Some of the criticism was aimed at words used in the song. According to Cardi, she didn't realize anything she said was offensive. "I apologize for that," she posted. "Not everybody knows the correct 'terms' to use.I learned and i stopped using it [sic]." It's been a rough week, social media-wise for the pregnant star. In addition to responding to the backlash for "Girls," Cardi deleted her Instagram account after catching wind of some seriously nasty comments Azealia Banks made about her on a radio show. "I speak how I speak I am how I am," she posted before closing the account. "I did not choose to be famous," she added, "people choose me! [sic]"

Portia de Rossi tells Ellen DeGeneres why she quit acting

Portia de Rossi technically quit acting acting more than a year ago, but she's somehow still on Season 5 of "Arrested Developent." Turns out the reason why remains a mystery, even to Portia. The actress appeared on her wife, Ellen DeGeneres' show this week, where the pair talked about Portia's apparently ongoing attempt to give up acting and focus on her art curation and publishing company. "I made this decision about 18 months ago. Shonda Rhimes wrote me off 'Scandal,'" Portia explained (via E! News). "I called ['Arrested Development' creator] Mitch Hurwitz…and I said if there is a Season 5, I won't be doing it because I quit acting and he seemed really understanding and he totally got it. We had a great conversation and then he wrote me into five episodes. Don't know how it happened, but yes, I am on Season 5." She really will be done with acting, she said, once the new season premieres on May 29. As for her next move? "I just kind of was wondering, is there something that I could tackle now that I've never done before that would be really challenging and different," she explained. "I kind of knew what acting would look like for me for the next 10, 20 years, so I decided to quit and start a business."

It hasn't been a problem for her on "Game of Thrones," which may be why Emilia Clarke finds the now infamous gender pay gap that affected shows like "The Crown," on which the star, Claire Foy, was paid less than her more peripheral costar, Matt Smith, "shocking." During a talk at the Kering Women in Motion series at the Cannes Film Festival this week, Emilia, whose new film "Solo: A Star Wars Story" is screening there, opened up about her experience with gender and pay. "On 'Game of Thrones,' I have always been paid the same amount as my male co-stars. It was my first job and I was not discriminated against because I was a woman, in my paycheck," she said, according to Page Six. "You start to dig deep and see where it is, rife in the industry." She added that it's important from the beginning of a project to be "aware" that the pay gap exists and to make sure your agent double checks to make sure your compensation is fair. "You just start to fight harder for that stuff," she said. In the meantime, Emilia's busy fighting to protect herself and her power as Daenerys Targaryen on "GOT." Asked about the ending, she said she doesn't know what will happen. "It will be what none of us think it will be," she said. "It really feels like preparing to leave home …," she admitted when asked about seeing her show of seven years come to an end. "That's exciting, but it's sad and scary all at the same time."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce bridal party, page boys names

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot this weekend, their godchildren and Harry's niece and nephew, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, will be nearby, lending their support as bridesmaids and page boys. According to Us Weekly, the bridal party will include Harry's goddaughters, Miss Florence van Cutsem, 3, and Miss Zalie Warren, 2, along with Meghan's godduaghters, Miss Remi Litt, 6, and Miss Rylan Litt, 7. Miss Ivy Mulroney, 4, the daughter of Meghan's BFF and stylist, Jessica Mulroney, will play a role as well, as will their brothers, twins Brian and John Mulroney, 7, and Harry's godson Jasper Dyer, 6. Sounds like quite the battalion of adorableness.
