Adele talks Rich Paul engagement rumors and why she really canceled her Las Vegas residency
Adele is finally clearing up two rumors that have plagued her for much of 2022. As the singer tells Elle in a new cover story published Monday, Aug. 15, her relationship status with Rich Paul has not changed, despite buzz suggesting they're either secretly married, secretly engaged or on the verge of breaking up. The couple recently celebrated their one-year anniversary together this past spring, and are now renovating the home Adele bought this year "with a blended family in mind," according to Elle. "I've never been in love like this. I'm obsessed with him," the singer gushes of her NBA agent beau. She also says she "definitely" wants siblings for her son, explaining, "I'm a homemaker and I'm a matriarch, and a stable life helps me with my music." Asked if she wants remarry after her divorce from Simon Konecki, Adele says, "yes, absolutely." So is she engaged now? "I'm not married," she says … four times, while laughing. "I'm just in loooove!" Adele declares. "I'm happy as I'll ever be. I might as well be married." (She later confirms she's also "not engaged"). The 34-year-old also reveals the real reason she canceled her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in January — which had nothing to do with Rich, despite reports to the contrary. "It was the worst moment in my career, by far," Adele tells Elle. "I was so excited about those shows. It was devastating." But after staying up for 30 hours worrying about a show she knew in her heart not the one she wanted to perform for fans, she says she opted to wait until she could do it right. "There was just no soul in it," she says. "The stage setup wasn't right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment." Adele adds: "I was embarrassed. But it actually made my confidence in myself grow, because it was a very brave thing to do. And I don't think many people would have done what I did. I'm very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs."

Bryce Dallas Howard confirms she was paid 'so much less' than Chris Pratt for 'Jurassic World'
Four years after reports surfaced claiming Bryce Dallas Howard was paid millions less than Chris Pratt for "Jurassic World," she's confirmed the pay disparity, saying it was actually a much wider gap than initially reported. She also praised her trilogy co-star for helping to ensure the stars earned equal pay for subsequent "Jurassic World" deals on video games, rides and other products. "The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said — so much less," Bryce told Insider in an interview published this week. "When I started negotiating for 'Jurassic,' it was 2014, and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. And, unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, and so your deals are set." Per Insider, an early report claimed Bryce took home $8 million, while Chris earned $10 million for the movies. "What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn't been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me, 'You guys don't even have to do anything. I'm going to do all the negotiating. We're going to be paid the same, and you don't have to think about this, Bryce,'" she shared. "I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I've been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie." Universal had no comment on the stars' pay when contacted by Insider.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez reportedly days away from wedding No.2
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck plan to their nuptial deal this weekend, if new reports from TMZ and Page Six are on-target. The couple eloped a month ago in Las Vegas before heading to Paris for their honeymoon. Now, they're expected to celebrate their marriage with family and friends at Ben's estate in Riceboro, Georgia, both outlets reported on Monday, Aug. 15. "It's going to be all about J.Lo. Ben wants all of the focus to be on her for their big day," a source told Page Six, adding that the festivities will begin with a rehearsal dinner on Friday, followed by a Saturday ceremony — with the bride in custom couture Ralph Lauren — and a barbecue and picnic on Sunday. The whole shindig will reportedly be photographed for Vogue. The couple may have headed to Georgia a few days early to start prepping for their bash — photos published by the Daily Mail over the weekend showed Ben, Jen and Ben's kids boarding a private jet in Los Angeles.
Johnny Depp to direct first feature in 25 years as Amber Heard hires new legal team for appeal
Johnny Depp's post-defamation trial comeback tour now includes a return to directing. Marking his first directing project in 25 years, Johnny is slated to helm "Modigliani," a biopic focused on 48 key hours in the life of the celebrated Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Johnny will also co-produce the film, with Al Pacino on board as a producer, as well. The directing update comes amid news Johnny's ex, Amber Heard, has hired a new legal team to help her appeal the largely pro-Johnny verdict in the actor's recent defamation case against Amber. Johnny filed suit over Amber's 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post in which she described her experience as a survivor of domestic abuse. She never named Johnny in the piece, but his attorneys argued she was referencing him, though he's long denied her claims of abuse. A Virginia jury sided with Johnny, awarding him $10 million in damages. They also awarded Amber $2 million in damages as a result of her countersuit. Johnny, 59, had argued the op-ed effectively ended his career. In addition to "Modigliani," he began shooting his first feature film in three years in July. He's also been touring on and off in support of a new album with guitarist Jeff Beck.
Padma Lakshmi reacts to near-fatal attack on ex-husband, Salman Rushdie
Padma Lakshmi shared a mix of concern and relief on Twitter over the weekend, as her ex-husband Salman Rushdie began breathing on his own after he was attacked onstage at a literary festival last week. "Relieved @SalmanRushdie is pulling through after Friday's nightmare," the "Top Chef" star tweeted on Sunday, Aug. 14. "Worried and wordless, can finally exhale. Now hoping for swift healing." Padma was married to the award-winning author from 2004 until 2007. Though he was no longer on a ventilator, Salman, 75, was still in "critical condition" on Sunday, having sustained what his son Zafar called "life-changing injuries" in the stabbing attack on Friday. Zafar added that his father's "usual feisty & defiant sense of humor remains intact." New Jersey resident Hadi Matar, 24, was arrested and taken into custody in connection with the stabbing, which took place at the Chautauqua Institution in New York as Salman was about to deliver a lecture. His writing has been the subject of controversy in the past. His novel "The Satanic Verses" sparked death threats from the leader of Iran, as well as a number of assassination attempts.
Anne Heche car crash investigation dropped
The Los Angeles Police Department will not continue its investigation into Anne Heche's recent car crash following the actress' death. "As of today, there will be no further investigative efforts made in this case," a rep for the LAPD confirmed to People. "Any information or records that have been requested prior to this turn of events will still be collected as they arrive as a matter of formalities and included in the overall case. When a person suspected of a crime expires, we do not present for filing consideration." Anne had been under investigation for felony DUI after narcotics were detected in her system when she crashed her car into a home in Los Angeles on Aug. 5. At the time, police told Deadline "additional testing" was needed to "rule out any substances that were administered by medical treatment" while the actress was in a coma. She never regained consciousness and was declared brain dead on Friday, Aug. 12. Her rep announced two days later that Anne had been "peacefully taken off life support" once an organ recipient match was made. "We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend," the star's family said in a statement after her death. "Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy. Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact." Anne was 53.
Nipsey Hussle's partner Lauren London honors late rapper at Walk of Fame ceremony
Rapper and social activist Nipsey Hussle was honored posthumously with a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, Aug. 15, which would have been his 37th birthday. In an at times emotional tribute, his partner Lauren London told a crowd that included Big Boi and other celebs that Nipsey "was destined for greatness" before his 2019 murder. "Nip would have been honored by this moment," she continued, according to ET. "I think he would want everyone to remember that you can't get to what's possible, unless you commit to moving forward. That doesn't mean forgetting where you come from, but it requires acknowledging the reality you were born into and the power you have to change that reality for the better." Seemingly fighting back tears, Lauren went on to urge listeners to think of the rapper's message when passing by his new star on the famous walkway. "Whenever you're in the City of Angels and you see this star, I hope it encourages you to break away from whatever might be holding you back and for you to run your marathon until God says that it is finished," she said. "Nip will forever live in our hearts. I am grateful for the love and the support the world has shown us but especially I want to thank the city of Los Angeles," she added. "I love you and as you know, the marathon continues." Nipsey was fatally shot on March 31 outside his Marathon Clothing story. Eric Holder Jr. was convicted of his murder last month.
