Jada Pinkett Smith addresses 2022 Oscars slap
For the first time, Jada Pinkett Smith is speaking out in public and in depth about the moment when her husband, Will Smith, slapped Chris Rock on live TV onstage at the 2022 Oscars after Chris made a joke about Jada's shaved head. On the Wednesday, June 1, edition of her "Red Table Talk" show, Jada, who suffers from alopecia, which causes hair loss, told viewers she wanted to discuss the condition because she's been contacted by "thousands" of people who also suffer from hair loss since the March 27 awards show. She also urged Will and Chris to work things out. "Now, about Oscar night," she said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconcile. The state of the world today? We need them both, and we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that's keep figuring out this thing called life together." Later, Jada said she's battled severe anxiety and "shame" as a result of her alopecia, and hoped to give a platform to members of the "alopecia community" in order to raise awareness about its effects. One of those people was Niki Ball, whose 12-year-old daughter was bullied terribly after shaving her head and ultimately died by suicide. On the "Red Table Talk" premiere in April, Jada briefly referenced "the slap," saying only that her family was engaged in "deep healing."

Zendaya calls Tom Holland 'the one who makes me the happiest' in sweet birthday tribute
Zendaya celebrated Tom Holland's 26th birthday on Wednesday, June 1, by sharing a rare moment of candor about her feelings for her "Spider-Man: No Way Home" co-star on Instagram. Alongside a sweet, black and white photo of the two hugging each other close and smiling, she wrote, "Happiest of birthdays to the one who makes me the happiest <3." Although dating rumors followed the couple for years, they mostly denied the relationship was romantic. Photos of the two sharing a very non-platonic looking kiss surfaced last summer, though, and they basically acknowledged they're more than friends without explicitly confirming it in an interview for GQ's November 2021 issue. "We basically felt robbed of our privacy," Tom told the outlet when asked about the paparazzi moment. He went on to say he tries to keep his "private life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway." In the same feature, Zendaya added, "… when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own."

As a Virginia jury continued deliberations in Johnny Depp's defamation trial against Amber Heard on Tuesday, May 31, the actor joined his pal, guitarist Jeff Beck, onstage again at Royal Albert Hall in London. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star had another longtime friend nearby as he performed, too. Photographers spotted Johnny's ex, Kate Moss, at the show, which marked Johnny's third appearance with Jeff since Sunday. According to The Cut, Kate was backstage for at least part of the evening. The supermodel's support comes after she testified at Johnny's trial that there's no truth to rumors he threw her down a set of stairs in Jamaica when they were dating from 1994 until 1998. "We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm. As I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back," she said in her testimony, People previously reported. "I screamed because I didn't know what happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention. He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs." Johnny filed suit against his ex-wife Amber over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post that he claims portrays him as having abused her during their marriage. He's long denied the abuse claims and says Amber abused him, not the other way around. Amber countersued the star for defamation. On Wednesday, the jury found the former couple defamed each other — Amber, via her allegations of past violence, and Johnny, via statements made by lawyer as he pursued legal action against her. Johnny, however, won the case, as the jury also decided Amber acted with "malice." According to Variety, Johnny was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, while Amber was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages.
Matthew Morrison was reportedly fired from 'SYTYCD' over 'flirty messages' that made a contestant 'uncomfortable'
In the wake of Matthew Morrison's sudden departure from "So You Think You Can Dance" last week, a source close to the reality show told People the "Glee" alum was fired because "he had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant." In his initial statement about exiting, Matthew said he "did not follow competition production protocols," which rendered him unable to "judge the competition fairly." According to People's source, Matthew and the female contestant "didn't have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media." Noting that Matthew and the contestant "never met up off-set," the insider added, "She felt uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers, who then got Fox involved. He was fired after they did their own investigation." Matthew, who also apologized in his statement to press last week, will appear on the show's pre-taped episodes until the week of June 15, when a judge is expected to join the panel, which also includes JoJo Siwa and Stephen "tWitch" Boss.
Ewan McGregor slams 'horrendous, racist' attacks on 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' co-star Moses Ingram
Ewan McGregor has a personal message for those who've sent racist, hateful direct messages and threats to his "Obi-Wan Kenobi" co-star, Moses Ingram, who plays Reva Sevander on the Disney+ series. "It seems that some of the fan base has decided to attack Moses Ingram online and send her the most horrendous, racist [direct messages]," he said in a video posted on the official "Star Wars" Twitter page this week. "I heard some of them this morning and it just broke my heart," he continued. "Moses is a brilliant actor, she's a brilliant woman, and she's absolutely amazing in this series." Ewan concluded, "I just want to say as the leading actor in the series, as the executive producer on the series, that we stand with Moses," adding, "We love Moses, and if you're sending her bullying messages, you're no 'Star Wars' fan in my mind. There's no place for racism in this world." Moses went public with the hate she's been receiving over the weekend, sharing DMs and comments that featured racial slurs and threats against her safety. "Long story short, there are hundreds of those. Hundreds," she said in a follow-up video. "And I also see those of you out there who put on a cape for me and that really does mean the world to me because, you know, there's nothing anybody can do about this. Queen Elizabeth arrives safely at Windsor Castle after lightning delays plane's landing
Queen Elizabeth II was en route to London from Scotland ahead of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations this week when her plane encountered a bad storm, delaying its ability to land. Once the lightning, heavy rain and hail let up, however, the pilot was able to get the 96-year-old monarch safely to her destination on Tuesday, May 31, according to People. A rep for Buckingham Palace told NBC News "there were no safety concerns." The queen's Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne, kicks off Thursday with thousands of beacons being lit across England and in the Commonwealth, NBC reports. Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will both attend the Jubilee events with their children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, who turns 1 this weekend. The Sussex family won't join the senior royals on the palace balcony, given their departure from their royal positions, though, nor will Prince Andrew, according to People. Harry, Meghan and the royal family are slated to come together Friday as well for a National Service of Thanksgiving in honor of the queen.
Elliot Page gets candid about transphobia
After coming out as gay in 2014 and announcing his transition in 2020, Elliot Page is reflecting on the mix of joy and pain both experiences brought him — and he's not convinced people "get" the kind of hatred still being shown towards trans people. Speaking to Esquire in a lengthy piece published this week, Elliot, 35, recalled that after he came out as transgender, "love and support from so many people and hatred and cruelty and vitriol from so many others." Comparing his two "coming out" experiences, he said, "Transphobia is just so, so extreme. The hatred and the cruelty is so much more incessant." As an example, he recalled how a stranger in Los Angeles — "this really big dude, less than an arm's length away" — began "screaming" homophobic slurs at him as he tried to cross Sunset Boulevard. "If I said something, he could retaliate. If I turned around, that could trigger something else. So I thought, 'I'm just going to have to bet on standing completely still and staring straight ahead,'" he recalled. Soon, he said the man turned up behind him and threatened to kill him — repeatedly. "I ran into a convenience store, and as I was opening the door he yelled, 'This is why I need a gun!'" Elliot shared. "Yeah, I don't think people really get it." The "Umbrella Academy" star — whose character transitions in Season 3 from Vanya to Viktor — returns to the series for another season on June 22
