Using opioids: Report
Lisa Marie Presley was taking opioids again in the final weeks of her life, TMZ alleged on Jan. 30. She was also on what the webloid calls "an extreme weight loss regimen" and was taking medication that helped her drop 40 to 50 pounds in the six weeks leading up to the 2023 Golden Globes. TMZ further claimed, citing sources, that the singer-songwriter, the only child of music icon Elvis Presley, had plastic surgery two months earlier. Lisa Marie, the site reported, wanted to look her best to celebrate the film "Elvis" during this awards season. At the Globes, Lisa Marie appeared gaunt and unsteady on her feet during an interview and at one point needed to be assisted by a friend. Her cause of death isn't yet confirmed, as a toxicology report is expected to take several months. The mother of four, who previously struggled with opioid addiction, suffered a cardiac arrest on Jan. 12 at her home in the Los Angeles area. She died later that day at a hospital.
Vax stance?
Zachary Levi, the star of DC Comics' "Shazam!" franchise, is causing an uproar after coming out against pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. In the blink of an eye, many on social media began labeling the actor an "anti-vaxxer." The situation began after Moorhouse Group CEO Lyndon Wood asked in a tweet, "Do you agree or not, that Pfizer is a real danger to the world?" Zach replied, "Hardcore agree." Pfizer, of course, was one of the main companies to roll out a COVID vaccine in 2021. While many left-leaning accounts claimed Zach was pushing out propaganda, many right-leaning Twitter accounts applauded him. Amid the hubbub, Zachary attempted to clarify his stance, posting a link to Pfizer's $2.3 billion fraud settlement from 2009. "Just one example of what I'm referring to…," he added. Lyndon Wood, by the way, later encouraged his followers to see Zach's upcoming film "Shazam! Fury of the Gods." The film is set to be released in March, so the timing of the tweet could very well cause DC Comics some headaches.
Cryptic post
Just one day after Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes officially ended their "GMA3" gigs amid scandal, her former stepson went cryptic. On Saturday, Jan. 28, Nate Shue posted a GIF via his Instagram Stories of Jimmy Fallon saying, "Let's just move on," Us Weekly reported. The timing is certainly interesting. Nate's father, "Melrose Place" star Andrew Shue, and Amy married in 2010. Shortly after the relationship with T.J. — her "GMA3" co-anchor — came to light in November 2022, reports said she had quietly filed for divorce from Andrew, and the split was nearly finalized. T.J., meanwhile, filed for divorce from his wife of 12 years, Marilee Fiebig, in December 2022. After the alleged affair became public knowledge, Amy and T.J. were pulled from the air. On Friday, Jan. 27, ABC announced that they were no longer affiliated with the network. "After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it's best for everyone that they move on from ABC News," a statement said. "We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions." Afterward, ABC News president Kim Godwin called the romance a "distraction."
'Missing' daughter found
"The Real Housewives of Orange County" alum Tammy Knickerbocker was living every parent's nightmare: For weeks, she hadn't heard from her adult daughter Lindsey. Fearing the worst, the reality TV star reported Lindsey missing, noting that they hadn't spoke since Jan. 9. Lindsey's sister, Megan, said on Facebook that her sibling "was scared for her life" when they last spoke, claiming, "No one has heard for her since. Absolutely gone without a trace." She continued, "The last thing my mom heard was her crying and saying he was going to kill her if she didn't do what he wanted. It's horrible." Lindsey was believed to be in the Las Vegas area. But, after weeks of stress, Tammy now says she's heard from her 34-year-old daughter. Her daughter is alive but still staying mysterious. "She has called me but really won't tell me where she is," Tammy told Fox News on Sunday, Jan. 29. "Thank God with all the amazing help she is alive. Still worried about where she is and the guy that is with her. Working on some plans hopefully to get her out."
Bridal issue
The gown is gone! "The Bachelorette" alum Clare Crawley recently returned from a Hawaiian vacation with her fiancé Ryan Dawkins, and she got a rude welcome home surprise: her wedding dress was stolen! In an Instagram video, the reality TV alum said her car was broken into when she was on vacation. "And guess what was in the car? Keep in mind my wedding is very soon. My wedding dress was in my car," she said. "It was in there because I was supposed to take it to get its last alteration and I wanted to remind myself not to forget it." Clare, who starred on the 2020 season of the popular ABC show, acknowledged being upset about the theft, but she's quickly got a replacement dress. "Within three days, I got a brand-new dress altered, pressed, completely altered again in the best way, like even more fitting. Turns out, that was the wedding dress that was on my Pinterest board three years ago. It's the dress of my dreams," she said, claiming the new dress is "even better" than the original.
Satisfying his app-etite
Michael B. Jordan is dipping his toe back into the dating pool, and he's going digital. While hosting "Saturday Night Live," the actor acknowledged his June 2022 breakup with Lori Harvey, Steve Harvey's daughter. "But right after [directing 'Creed III'], I went through my very first public breakup," he said. "Most people after a breakup are like, 'I'm going to get in better shape.' But I was already in 'Creed' shape. So I had to be like, 'All right, I guess I'll learn a new language.'" He then joked, "Anyway, estoy en Raya," which translates to "I'm on Raya," which is an invite-only dating app. Start swiping, Michael!
Unofficial sisters
Miranda Kerr and Katy Perry's friendship continues to bloom beautifully. The women will always be linked due to their relationships with Orlando Bloom, who Miranda was previously married to and shares a son with; Katy and Orlando share a daughter, Daisy, and have been engaged since 2019. Still, there's no awkwardness between the woman, which they proved by posing together over the weekend on the red carpet at the G'Day USA Arts Gala. Later in the evening, the pop star honored the former Victoria's Secret Angel for her work with Kora Organics. "I'm honored to present the Excellence in the Arts award to my sister from another mister, my health and wellness guru and the heart of our family, Miranda Kerr," Katy said. That is how it's done!
