Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the celebrities who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in early January 2023, starting with this Bravo personality…
In late December, Lisa Hochstein's ex-husband, Lenny Hochstein took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and their daughter, Elle, taking a whirl on a carnival ride. Nearly two weeks later on Jan. 2, he took to the comments section to accuse the "Real Housewives of Miami" star of emotionally abusing him during their marriage: "Lisa treated me like her servant. She refused to help me with the smallest requests, yelled at me on a weekly if not daily basis, established a life completely away from me, stayed out partying when I was home, criticized everything I did (except working hard), shoved her friends who I disliked down my throat, embarrassed me in public in front of my friends and refused to do anything with me. When I told her how I felt, she laughed at me. … One of the guys she's dating has been to our home, has vacationed with us and has had a 'friendly' relationship with her for seven years but I'm the bad guy? I tried to sacrifice my life for the sake of our children for years but ultimately the abuse became too much," he told a fan who criticized the way he handled their breakup. He alleged to another fan that he's offered Lisa "millions of dollars, a beautiful condo and support far greater than what she would get" in their divorce, but "she turned all of it down." Wrote the plastic surgeon, "She wants to hurt me in any way she can. She doesn't care that in the long run it will only hurt her and the children. She is threatening me even now. Just wait. I'm trying my best but all I get is hate and more threats." He also claimed that he's tried to handle their breakup "amicably," but "she refused." Lenny filed to divorce Lisa in late May — a couple weeks after he was first seen with his new girlfriend, Katharina Mazepa. Lenny has claimed that he and the model only took their relationship to the next level after he and Lisa separated. When contacted by Page Six for comment on Lenny's recent allegations, Lisa insisted that her ex is guilty of "infidelity," called his girlfriend "a self-proclaimed 'home-wrecking w****'" and claimed that he "goes to social media … to make up lies."

On Jan. 2, Page Six broke the news that, according to a source, Drake Bell and his wife of four years, Janet Von Schmeling, recently separated after she "had enough" of his bad behavior and moved back to Florida with their young son. "They had some incredible beautiful times before. He needs to focus on being healthy, and they'll be great co-parents in the future. It's a bad moment in time for Drake. But he is a great dad when he is healthy and sober," the source said. A People magazine source later confirmed that Janet left Drake "a few months ago." The People source added that she and the Los Angeles-based performer are "committed to maintaining a peaceful co-parenting relationship and giving their son the best life possible." On Jan. 4 — a week after T.J. Holmes filed to divorce his second wife, Marilee Fiebig, in the wake of reports he cheated on her with multiple women including "Good Morning America" co-anchor Amy Robach and two other "GMA" colleagues — she finally broke her silence about the implosion of their marriage: "During the holiday season and in light of the challenging times, Marilee's sole focus has remained on the overall best interest of her 9-year-old daughter. To that end, T.J.'s lawyer and I have been working together to move their divorce forward privately, expeditiously and as amicably as possible. Notwithstanding, we continue to be disappointed by T.J's lack of discretion, respect and sensitivity toward Marilee and the party's daughter. Marilee has been touched by the outpouring of support and looks forward to a new beginning in this new year," her lawyer told DailyMail.com after T.J. was photographed kissing Amy in Miami just before New Year's Eve. In the summer of 2022, there were questions about the nature of Matthew Lawrence's relationship with Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas after the longtime pals were seen hanging out together on the beach in Hawaii. On Jan. 3, the TLC singer's rep confirmed to TMZ and People magazine that she and the former child star took their relationship to the next level sometime just before Thanksgiving. "I've never seen her this in love. She is glowing. They are really cute together," Chilli's rep told People, adding that the "Boy Meets World" alum recently met his new girlfriend's family in Atlanta, where they celebrated the holidays together. A few days earlier, the duo teased their new romance with a joint post on Instagram: a video of themselves dancing to A-ha's "Take On Me" while rocking matching holiday onesies. They captioned the clip with hashtags for "new year's shenanigans," "onesie gang" and "we cute." In the wake of Matthew and Chilli's big debut, his ex-wife, Cheryl Burke, took to her Instagram Story to share a shady comment: "That was fast," she wrote on Jan. 3 — just three and a half months after they finalized their divorce following three years of marriage. The "Dancing With the Stars" alum has strongly implied multiple times since she and Matthew separated that he cheated on her.

"We did begin 2023 with a promise to one another to spend the rest of our lives together," she said, adding that they "exchanged rings and told the other, 'I love you, I want to be with you, this is my promise to you, this is where we're headed, I want to spend the rest of my life with you.'" The "Real Housewives of Orange County" alum described the ceremony as "really intimate and beautiful and special and just a really cute moment we shared together as a couple." She then clarified that they're not engaged. "We're madly in love and I have no doubt that's where we'll end up one day. But right now we're just enjoying our time together and soaking up the love and the excitement of having found one another," explained the mother of seven, who filed to divorce her husband of more than two decades, Sean Burke, in October 2022 — more than a year after they officially separated and nearly two years after she came out as a lesbian.
