Take a look back at the stars who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in late April and early May 2023, starting with this pair…
According to TMZ, Kevin Costner's second wife, Christine Baumgartner, filed for divorce on May 1 following nearly two decades of marriage. She reportedly cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split and asked for joint custody of their three children. She did not ask for spousal support, and Kevin's lawyer later confirmed that the former couple plan to follow the terms of their prenup when it comes to their division of assets.
After the breakup news hit the Internet, the Oscar winner's rep released a cryptic statement, saying, "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine's and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time."
TMZ later reported that Kevin was blindsided and devastated by Christine's seemingly sudden decision to throw in the towel. Echoed a People magazine source, "It was not anything that he wanted or sought, and if he could change the situation, he would." It's unclear what exactly went wrong for the long-term couple.
As unfounded rumors started circulating online that Christine caught Kevin straying from the marriage, a Page Six source insisted that "there was no issue of cheating at all." The source added that it's unclear "if Kevin even knows what [Christine's] reasons are" for pulling the plug. "Kevin was very surprised by Christine's actions, he obviously doesn't want the divorce and he would take her back," the source said. (Kevin's rep also insisted to Page Six that cheating rumors are "absolutely not true.")

On May 3, Deux Moi reported that, according to multiple anonymous sources, Taylor Swift has already moved on from her former long-term partner, English actor Joe Alwyn, with another bold-faced name: The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. According to one alleged insider, the duo's mutual friend and producer Jack Antonoff "set it up."
The Sun, meanwhile, reported that the two musicians are already serious about each other: "[They] are madly in love. It's super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost 10 years ago but timings just didn't work out. Taylor and Joe actually split up back in February, so there was absolutely no crossover. Both Matty and Taylor have been touring over the past few weeks, so it's been a lot of Face-Timing and texting but she cannot wait to see him again." The insider went on to note that both artists "understand the pressures of one another's jobs better than anyone" and are "incredibly supportive" of each other. "They are both massively proud and excited about this relationship and, unlike Taylor's last one — which was very much kept out of the spotlight, deliberately — she wants to 'own' this romance, and not hide it away," the source said. A second source added that Taylor's friends are "absolutely delighted because they reckon she and Matty are a brilliant match."

On May 2, People magazine reported that Bam Margera is claiming in newly filed legal documents that he and Nicole "Nikki" Boyd were never legally married. He's asking the court to dismiss the petition for legal separation that she filed in California in February, arguing that he is not a California resident, that they never lived together as a couple in the state and that their 2013 wedding in Iceland was never legally binding.
Bam claims he and Nikki lived in Pennsylvania throughout their "turbulent and unstable" relationship and that she would "stay with her family in California" on the "numerous occasions" that they took breaks from one another, though she "would always come back to Pennsylvania soon thereafter" to resume their "dating relationship." He also alleges that his former partner told him she "knew and understood" that they "were not married." He goes on to claim that Nikki moved to California and filed for divorce there so that she could take advantage of the state's marriage laws, which would benefit her financially. He then denies her claims that he hasn't financially supported their son.
In response, Nikki's lawyer told Page Six, "It was not until just recently that Nikki had ever heard Bam's claim that they were never married. She was told that the wedding would occur in Iceland and that it was all taken care of. She had a wedding ceremony, and then returned to the U.S. and lived like a married couple with Bam for years." The lawyer claims that because Nikki truly believed she and the "Jacka**" alum were married, she's "entitled to division of property and spousal support, in addition to child custody and support" under California law. Nikki also claims that she and Bam moved to California together, making the Golden State "the only venue for this divorce action."
