Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at all the celebrities who wed in 2021 — or whose marriages came to light this year — starting with this couple… On March 5, People magazine confirmed reports that Nicolas Cage secretly married Riko Shibata — who's three decades his junior — in a "very small and intimate" ceremony at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas on Feb. 16. It's his fifth marriage.

Finally! Page Six broke the news that music stars Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton tied the knot at his Oklahoma ranch on July 3 after nearly six years as a couple. The New York Post's gossip column published photos of the chapel the country music star built on the property all decked out for a wedding celebration, and on July 5, the newlyweds and Gwen's creative team shared a slew of photos from their stunning nuptials. Blake wore jeans with his tux while Gwen donned two custom Vera Wang dresses ("You need a party dress when u get to marry @blakeshelton" she captioned a pic of her reception mini) as well as both a long veil embroidered with the names of her new husband and three sons from her first marriage (see it here) and a short veil with a big bow and floral appliques (see it here). The cowboy and the No Doubt frontwoman, who was styled for her wedding by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, who also oversaw her Las Vegas residency show costumes, met as judges on "The Voice" and got engaged in October 2020.

Paris Hilton married venture capitalist Carter Reum at an estate once owned by her grandfather, Barron Hilton, in Los Angeles' Bel Air enclave on Nov. 11. She chose 11/11 for the wedding date because "11:11 has always been my favorite time of day. It's my reminder to make a wish and be open to miracles," she told Vogue. For the ceremony, she wore a custom Oscar de la Renta wedding dress. "I wanted something that was timeless, elegant, chic and iconic and I am so happy," she told Vogue. (People magazine reported that the socialite, reality TV star, DJ and podcast host also wore two other dresses that day: another Oscar de la Renta plus one by Ghalia Lav.) During the reception — where guests enjoyed a caviar station, tuna tartare, oysters Rockefeller torched to order, potato-crusted sea bass, grilled New York steak, grilled eggplant and more (plus late-night snacks including grilled cheese, pigs in a blanket and peanut butter and jelly macarons) — pop star Demi Lovato sang "I Will Always Love You." Celebrity guests included Kim Kardashian West, Nicole Richie, Emma Roberts, Ashlee Simpson, Meghan Trainor, Bebe Rexha, Paula Abdul, aunts Kim Richards and Kyle Richards of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" fame, Rachel Zoe, Ashley Benson and more.
"Saturday Night Live" alum Will Forte is married! The star of the new Peacock comedy series "MacGruber," which is based on his "MacGyver" parody movie of the same name, told People magazine that he and Olivia Modling — to whom he got engaged shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began — wed in a small ceremony on July 31. "We were in New Mexico, making 'MacGruber,'" the actor told People, explaining that they'd put off wedding planning amid the global health crisis then had a baby and by this summer felt like it was time to do it. With several family members due to visit, they quickly planned a wedding since "all the people that we would want to be here are going to be here," the "Last Man on Earth" star explained. "And we just had this really fun, delightful wedding, pretty small, in the back of ['MacGruber' co-creator] Jorma Taccone's house. It was just a delightful day. My parents were totally surprised." He shared that he loves calling Olivia his "wife," adding, "She's great. I needed to find somebody who was a very patient person and she's the most patient, understanding woman in the world. I'm feeling very happy and very lucky these days."

Surprise! Freida Pinto is married! The "Slumdog Millionaire" actress revealed on the Oct. 20 episode of "The Kelly Clarkson Show" that sometime during the coronavirus pandemic, she and photographer Cory Tran eloped at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. "We're already married," she confessed when Kelly asked how wedding planning was going. "When we got engaged, we thought we'd have this most magical wedding … but then COVID happened — and it's still happening — and we just realized we were gonna be planning this for the rest of our lives and probably never doing it, you know? So we decided one day to go to the Honda Center in Anaheim and just get married," she explained. "I do not want stomach ulcers from planning my own wedding, and this was perfect. It was absolutely perfect! We got married and then we got to go home and take an afternoon nap." In June, the newlyweds announced that they're expecting their first child together.

It's a reality TV fairy tale! "Flip or Flop" star Tarek El Moussa wed "Selling Sunset" realtor Heather Rae Young in a ceremony near Santa Barbara, California, on Oct. 23. People magazine reported that the Netflix star donned a dress by Galia Lahav for the occasion, which was attended by many of her castmates. Tarek's children with ex-wife and HGTV co-star Christina Haack — daughter Taylor and son Brayden — were also present for the festivities. The couple, who shared photos from their nuptials on social media — "Flipped her name for good," Tarek captioned a snapshot — got engaged in July 2020 after nearly a year of dating. They first went public with their relationship in August 2019.

A little more than three months after Page Six broke the news that "Girls" creator and star Lena Dunham was dating Peruvian-English musician Attawalpa (real name: Luis Felber), People magazine confirmed that the couple tied the knot over the weekend of Sept. 25. Back in April, the "Girls" alum told The New York Times she'd been seeing a musician for "a few months."

Elizabeth Olsen casually revealed she's married during an interview with Kaley Cuoco for Variety's "Actors on Actors" series that debuted online on June 8: The "WandaVision" star referenced a book in her home and noted that her "husband" put it on display. She didn't specify when — or whom — she married, but back in July 2019, People magazine reported that Elizabeth and longtime love Robbie Arnett were engaged. She never confirmed the news that she and the Milo Greene frontman were set to wed.

On Sept. 7, "Emily In Paris" star Lily Collins announced that she married director Charlie McDowell in Dunton, Colorado, on Sept. 4, nearly a year after they confirmed their engagement. The bride — the daughter of music star Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman — wore a long-sleeved high-neck gown and lace veil by Ralph Lauren. "I've never wanted to be someone's someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife. On September 4th, 2021 we officially became each other's forever. Carpenter Ty Pennington of "Trading Spaces" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" fame married Kellee Merrell, a social media manager originally from Vancouver, on Nov. 27 in front of eight guests at the 19th century home they're restoring in Savannah, Georgia, People magazine reported. "We did it," he captioned a wedding photo on Instagram. The couple met back in 2010 when he was filming a TV show in Toronto and reconnected in early 2020. Things got serious as they quarantined together amid the COVID-19 pandemic and they got engaged in July.

Model Meadow Walker — the only child of late movie star Paul Walker — is now married to actor Louis Thornton-Allan, she revealed on Instagram on Oct. 22. People magazine reported that the wedding took place in early October in the Dominican Republic and that the bride wore a Givenchy Haute Couture dress. Meadow shared a video and other images from the nuptials on social media. Her dad's "Fast & Furious" franchise co-star Vin Diesel, who's also her godfather, walked her down the aisle, and co-star Jordana Brewster was among the guests. Meadow and Louis announced their engagement in August.

The last Middleton child is married! After a two-year engagement, on Sept. 11, Duchess Kate's brother, James Middleton — a businessman who founded Ella & Co. dog food and Boomf personalized marshmallow brands — wed French financial analyst Alizee Thevenet in southeastern France. "Mr & Mrs Middleton Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs in the beautiful village or Bormes-les-Mimosas. Words cannot describe how happy I am," James captioned this beautiful selfie with his bride on Sept. 12. According to Page Six, the guest list included big sister Kate and her husband, Prince William, plus their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis; sibling Pippa Middleton and her husband, James Matthews, plus their two kids, Arthur and Grace; and of course parents Carole and Mike Middleton.

On Aug. 9, "Frozen" franchise director Jennifer Lee announced on Instagram that she and "Spider-Man" actor Alfred Molina — who voiced Anna and Elsa's father in "Frozen II" — are married. "We did. We do," the Walt Disney Animation Studios chief creative officer captioned a wedding photo slideshow full of emotional moments from their garden ceremony, which appears to have been officiated by "Frozen" franchise voice actor Jonathan Groff, who previously worked with Alfred. The Tony-nominated "Hamilton" star is the one who connected the couple: In another photo post, Jennifer told fans, "This beautiful, generous soul is the reason Fred and I met. We owe him the world." Alfred and Jennifer have been a couple since at least 2019. He was previously wed to English actress Jill Gascoine, who died in April 2020 following a long battle with Alzheimer's, for more than three decades.

On Sept. 12, three-time Emmy winner Uzo Aduba took to Instagram to reveal that she secretly married filmmaker Robert Sweeting last year. "For some of us, it can feel like we spend our whole lives waiting for our special someone. My heart, my love — I'm so happy my life started last year with you. You're the best thing that ever happened to me," she captioned a selfie from their wedding day. She quoted a memorable line from "When Harry Met Sally": "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." On Sept. 2, Duane Chapman — better known as Dog the Bounty Hunter — tied the knot for the sixth time, marrying Francie Frane in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Two family members were missing from the "Dog's Most Wanted" star's celebrations: His daughters Cecily and Bonnie Chapman were not invited to the wedding. The women believe they were left off the guest list because of their support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Dog denied that was the reason, claiming he supports BLM. He also made headlines when he said he had a "pass" to use the N-word.

Surprise! Oscar nominee Don Cheadle quietly married his partner of nearly three decades, interior designer Bridgid Coulter, last year. "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" guest host Wanda Sykes revealed the news on the June 30 episode of the daytime talk show. While interviewing the "Avengers" actor, the comedian said, "You texted me at the top of the year, I guess, and you told me that you just got married." Confirmed Don, "[We were] together 28 years before we got married."

On Oct. 13, Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters announced that he'd married for the fifth time. His new missus, Kamilah Chavis, is 35 years his junior. "I'm so happy, finally a keeper," the rock star captioned a slideshow of wedding photos featuring his love of about five years, whom he met when she worked as his driver at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California, Page Six revealed. Prince Philippos — the youngest son of King Constantine III of Greece and Queen Anne-Marie of Denmark — married VistaJet heiress Nina Flohr in a religious wedding ceremony at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens on Oct. 23. In addition to family members, other royals including Britain's Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were in attendance. The couple first wed in a civil ceremony at the Swiss ski resort St. Moritz in December 2020 where, due to strict COVID-19 guidelines, only their fathers were able to witness their union. They had another celebration at the stately home of friends in England's Cambridgeshire region in May before their church ceremony in October.

Princess Mako of Japan — the eldest grandchild of Emperor Emeritus Akihito and the niece of the current Emperor Naruhito — has finally wed her fiancé of four years, who's a commoner. She and Kei Komuro, a former college classmate who in May graduated from Fordham Law School and now works for a New York City law firm, announced their engagement in 2017, but for years postponed their wedding because of a financial dispute involving the groom's mother and her former fiancé that sparked public disapproval. On Oct. 26, Mako and Kei wed in a civil ceremony, registering their marriage at a government office, then sat for a brief press conference (pictured) during which they apologized to anyone who was "inconvenienced" by their marriage, NBC News reported. "I love Mako," Kei told reporters, "and I want to spend my one and only life with the person I love." Mako — who has a master's degree in art museum and gallery studies from the University of Leicester and has worked as a special researcher at the University Museum of the University of Tokyo — called her new husband "invaluable" to her and said their marriage "was a necessary choice in order to live while carefully protecting our own hearts." Mako is required to give up her royal status, as dictated by Japan's imperial males-only succession rules, since she's married a commoner; she's also declined a lump-sum payment of about $1.3 million that female members of the royal family are entitled to when they lose their imperial status. The couple is expected to leave Japan and live in NYC.

On Oct. 16, "Schitt's Creek" alum Sarah Levy, who played Twyla on the hit comedy series, married actor-producer Graham Outerbridge at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood. Her brother and co-star, Dan Levy, announced the news on Instagram with a photo showing them dancing at the reception, which he captioned, "My sister got married this weekend. This is absolutely not a photo of us screaming the lyrics to S Club Party on the dance floor. Love you, @sarahplevy." The bride later posted a photo strip of herself laughing with her new husband on their wedding day.

"The Good Doctor" star and former child actor Freddie Highmore revealed on the Sept. 27 episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that he quietly "got married" earlier this year. "I'm married to a very wonderful woman now," he said, adding that he feels "very happy," though admits he hasn't quite adjusted to calling his mystery bride his "wife" yet. "I just still can't get over the terminology and the vocab — like, a 'married man' just sounds very old and 'my wife' sounds very possessive," he explained. "We don't really use that yet, but we just point to the rings and be like, 'Here, look, make or draw your own conclusions.'" He hasn't publicly revealed his wife's identity, though he did confirm that she's also British.

Wells Adams was a groomsman and several other familiar faces from Bachelor Nation were on the guest list including Nick Viall, Becca Kufrin and Thomas Jacobs, and Jared Haibon and Ashley Iaconetti. The couple of three years got engaged in March 2020.

In an interview with Vogue Australia that hit the internet on Oct. 16, "Succession" star Sarah Snook revealed that she quietly married comedian Dave Lawson in February. "At the beginning of the pandemic last year, I got locked down in Melbourne [Australia] with one of my best mates and we fell in love," she explained. "We've been friends since 2014, lived together, traveled together, always excited to see each other, but totally platonic. We've just never been single at the same time. I proposed and we got married in my backyard [in New York City]. … It's been a ride. There's so much heartache and sadness in the world, but on a micro personal level, I've been very fortunate. Victoria's Secret model Jasmine Tookes married her love of five years, Stanford-educated Snapchat exec Juan David Borrero — who's also the son of the vice president of Ecuador, Alfredo Borrero — at the Church and Convent of St. Francis, more commonly known as el San Francisco, in Quito, Ecuador, on Sept. 4. On July 13, Spice Girls singer Emma Bunton revealed that she and her partner of 21 years, Jade Jones — who got engaged back in 2006, about eight years into their relationship, and had two sons together — finally tied the knot. Emma shared the news on Instagram alongside a wedding photo, captioning the pic, "Mr and Mrs Jones!" (Jade shared another image on his Instagram page.) Spice Girls Victoria Beckham, Mel B and Mel C all took to the comments section to show their support. "Congratulations! Love u both so much!!" Victoria wrote. Just two weeks after she revealed she was dating Cuffe Biden Owens, "The Real Housewives of Orange County" alum Meghan King married the Los Angeles-based attorney — who's President Joe Biden's nephew — in the front yard of Cuffe's childhood home in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 11 (which is also the groom's parents' anniversary). The guest list of 50 included the president and first lady Jill Biden as well as Meghan's three young children with first husband Jim Edmonds. And, breaking from tradition, I tried all of them on for Cuffe to see," Meghan told Brides. The duo — who got engaged in early 2020 after a little more than a year of dating — originally intended to exchange vows at Lake Como or in the South of France but were forced to cancel their big wedding plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Country music star Jimmie Allen and nurse Alexis Gale tied the knot in front of family and friends including Darius Rucker, Tyler Rich and Chuck Wicks at the Lake House Inn in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, on May 27. The duo, who got engaged at Disney World in July 2019, welcomed their first child together, daughter Naomi Bettie, in March 2020. Jimmie also has an older son from a previous relationship.

Singer-actor Jesse McCartney married actress Katie Peterson at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California, on Oct. 23, People magazine announced, adding that the bride wore a Galia Lahav couture dress while the former "All My Children" actor and 2000s pop idol wore a Brioni tux. The magazine, which has wedding photos, further reported that the bride's uncle officiated the ceremony. The "Beautiful Soul" singer's brother served as his best man and the bride's dog, Bailey, played flower girl.

Page Six reported that the nuptials were set to take place in early August. "To my truest love…out of nowhere, you made 45 hands down the greatest year of my life. And i'm sure it took me 45 years to become the man worthy of your love. I hope I spend every one of these birthdays by your side til my last day. And beyond. The news came after photos emerged showing him with a baby and longtime love Janet Von Schmeling — both were wearing gold bands — at Disneyland. The couple first tied the knot in an extremely intimate ceremony in the backyard of the groom's family home in Michigan in June 2020. (They initially planned to have a big wedding in Santa Barbara, California, but were forced to alter their plans amid the coronavirus pandemic.)
