Tyler Perry admits it's been 'very difficult' being friends with both Will Smith and Chris Rock
Tyler Perry is speaking out for the first time about the moments after Will Smith smacked Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 Oscars. Tyler, along with Denzel Washington, both leapt up from their seats to talk to Will and Chris after it happened. But as Tyler told Gayle King during a Tribeca Film Festival Q&A on Monday, June 13, his primary goal was to "de-escalate" the situation. The director and producer also admitted his friendships with Will and Chris have become more challenging because of what happened. "There's a difference between comforting and de-escalating, that's number one," he said, according to People. "And I left early to get to Chris to make sure he was OK. Being friends with both of them has been very difficult." Asserting that what Will did "was wrong in no uncertain terms," Tyler said he told Will exactly that. "… When we walked over to [Will], he was devastated," Tyler recalled. "He couldn't believe what happened. He couldn't believe he did it. And I'm looking at this man in his eyes going, 'What are you doing? This is your night.' And to get all the way to this moment, winning an Oscar, that was one of the crowning moments of his career that he wanted so desperately … I think he is very much in reflection of trying to figure out what happened." As for Chris, Tyler praised the comic for being "a pure champion for the way he handled it." Tyler added: "But I want you to understand that something happened that was extremely painful for [Will] as well. That is no excuse. He was completely wrong for what he did. But something triggered him — that is so out of everything he is." The trigger was a joke Chris made about Will's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, having shaved her head.

Brad Pitt reflects on his time with Gwyneth Paltrow, close bond with her father
Nearly 25 years after they called off their engagement, Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt still have nothing but love for one another. Gwyneth recently interviewed her onetime fiance for a Goop piece on his cashmere brand. But the conversation's real warm-and-fuzzies came when the two looked back on their mid-'90s romance and how much Gwyneth's dad, the late director Bruce Paltrow, meant to Brad and vice versa. "I'll never forget when we were engaged and he came to me one day, his eyes full of tears, and he said, 'You know, I never really realized what they mean when they say you're gaining a son. Like, I'm gaining a son,'" Gwyneth recalled. "What impact did he have on you? Why did you love him, even though we didn't get married, unfortunately?" Brad laughed and joked, "Oh, man, everything works out, doesn't it?" Gwyneth played along, joking, "Yes, it does. I finally found the Brad I was supposed to marry. It just took me 20 years." Brad sweetly replied, "And it's lovely to have you as a friend now … And I do love you," before Gwyneth confirmed the feeling is mutual. "I love you so much," she said. In answer to her original question, Brad praised Bruce's parenting skills. [Your dad] really fostered your voice, your independence," Brad said. "He carved the way for you guys to be who you are. And I think that's so important to parenting, you know? So the child is free to find out who they are and what they love and what they don't. You guys were just so free in your conversations. And witty. And intelligent. And funny as f***." Asked if Brad "felt [Bruce's] paternal energy," the actor said, "One hundred percent. I felt that same kind of guidance that you would get from a coach or a mentor." Gwyneth got the same vibe from her dad, she said: "I mean, he was my father, but he was very much a mentor. He loved being that role for the people that he really loved, and you were definitely one of them." Brad, 58, and Gwyneth, 49, started dating in 1994. They got engaged two years later but called it quits in 1997.
Amber Heard says she'll stand by her testimony 'to my dying day' after Johnny Depp trial
Amber Heard doubled down on her claims Johnny Depp abused her physically and emotionally during their marriage in the first segment of a two-part interview that aired on "Today" on Tuesday, June 14. "To my dying day, I will stand by every word of my testimony," Amber said while discussing the defamation trial her ex brought against her over a 2018 op-ed about surviving domestic abuse. Amber also discussed the brutal treatment she's received on social media and in public as a result of the trial, which ended earlier this month with the jury awarding more than $10 million to Johnny and only $2 million to Amber, who had countersued. (The jury found the two defamed each other, but decided Amber's defamation went further than Johnny's, despite her never having named him in the piece. He has long denied her abuse allegations.) In the interview, Amber recounted passing crowds of her ex-huband's fans on her way to the courthouse who held signs reading "Burn the Witch" and "Death to Amber Heard." She called the trial "the most humiliating and horrible thing I've ever been through," and said she's "never felt more removed from my own humanity." Later, interviewer Savannah Guthrie pushed Amber on her claim she never instigated a physical fight with Johnny, pointing to transcripts of audio tapes that were used as evidence. Grilled about one that seemed to show Amber acknowledging she'd started a particular fight, Amber said transcripts of "20 seconds" of audio "aren't representative of the two hours those clips are excerpted from." She explained, "When your life is at risk … [you] take the blame for things that you shouldn't take the blame for… As I testified .. I was talking in those recordings as a person in an extreme amount of emotional, psychological and physical distress." Still, Amber admitted, "I did do and say horrible things throughout my relationship … I behaved in horrible, almost unrecognizable to myself ways." She added, "We were awful to each other. I made a lot of mistakes — a lot of mistakes — but I've always told the truth." Part two of the sit-down airs Wednesday on "Today."

In the wake of Bruce Willis' aphasia diagnosis, his wife, Emma Heming has continued to share loving messages about the actor and what made her "fall" for him before they tied the knot in 2009. Emma's latest Bruce homage on Instagram features a throwback video of the "Die Hard" star introducing and then performing with The Temptations. "My motto is don't let the fear stop you," Emma captioned the video on June 13. "Why? Because fear constantly stops me 😂🙈 Which is another reason I fell for my husband, fear has never stopped him. I mean what kind of next level confidence does it take to sing lead with The Temptations?" She goes on to write, "You can say what you want (and boy have they) but this guy has always been led by his passion and has never let naysayers stop him from, well, anything. And I have so much respect, love and admiration for that man because of it. Enjoy this little ditty that warms my heart ❤️." Emma, along with Bruce's ex, Demi Moore, and both couples' children, announced on March 30 that Bruce would be "stepping away from" his acting career because he's "recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities." The website notes a stroke is a common cause of the disorder.
Ozzy Osbourne is 'on the road to recovery' after major surgery, Sharon says
Ozzy Osbourne made it through potentially life-altering surgery on Monday, June 13, without any problems, according to Sharon Osbourne. "Our family would like to express so much gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love and support leading up to Ozzy's surgery," "The Talk" star shared on her Instagram Story on Tuesday. "Ozzy is doing well and on the road to recovery! Your love means the world to him." On an episode of last week's "The Talk," Sharon revealed the Black Sabbath rocker was due to have an operation that could "determine the rest of his life." He reportedly had 15 pins put in his spine following the 2019 fall. According to a Page Six "family source," the latest surgery was expected to involve "having the pins in his neck and back realigned." Ozzy also suffers from Parkinson's disease.
Kanye West calls out Adidas for allegedly 'copying' Yeezy Slide design
After a relatively quiet stretch of time on Instagram, Kanye West returned to the platform this week to call out Adidas for what he says is "blatant copying" of his Yeezy Slides. In the since-deleted post, the rapper and designer reportedly showed followers a pic of the brand's Adilette 22 sandals. The shoes sold out immediately when they were released in May, according to Billboard. They also come in muted shades similar to Yeezy Slides and vaguely resemble Crocs, as do Yeezy Slides. At $55, however, they're a good deal cheaper than Kanye's $70 Slides, which are made in partnership with Adidas, though Kanye retains creative control over Yeezy designs. "To Kasper I'm not standing for this blatant copying no more," Kanye reportedly captioned the post, aimed at Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted. "To all sneaker culture To every ball player rapper or even if you work at the store. This is for everyone who wants to express themselves but feel they can't cause they'll loose their contract or be called crazy," he continued. "These shoes represent the disrespect that people in power have to the talent. This shoe is a fake Yeezy made by adidas themselves I'm not talking to DC about this either Kasper come talk to me Happy Monday."
Justin Bieber shares health update after Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis
Justin Bieber checked in with fans this week after revealing he's been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which he said was causing paralysis in part of his face. "Wanted to share a little bit of how I've been feeling," the singer wrote on his Instagram Stories on Monday, June 13. "Each day has gotten better." The rare neurological syndrome, which Justin announced he was battling last week, is caused by the virus that causes chicken pox and shingles and can affect a nerve in the face, causing partial paralysis that patients recover from, more often than not, according to the Mayo Clinic. In his June 10 post, the singer said he was forced to postpone a number of shows on his Justice World Tour because he couldn't move parts of one side of his face. This week, he told fans he's been leaning on his faith in order to stay strong. "Through all of the discomfort I have found comfort in the one who designed me and knows me," he said on his Story. "I'm reminded He knows all of me. He knows the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about and He constantly welcomes me into His loving arms. This perspective has given me peace during this horrific storm that I'm facing," he continued, concluding, "I know this storm will pass but in the meantime JESUS IS WITH ME." Although he canceled concerts in Toronto and New York City, Justin's website still showed tour dates from June 17 through July 3 as of Tuesday.
