It's almost time for the Golden Globes, where your favorite stars of the silver and small screens collide. In honor of the show's 74th year, we're flashing back two decades — to 1997 — and marveling at what the red carpet looked like back then. A then-married Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman attended the 1997 Golden Globe Awards together on Jan. 19 that year when Tom was up for best actor for his work in "Jerry Maguire." Nominated for her work in "Evita," Madonna attended the 1997 Golden Globe Awards with then-partner Carlos Leon. She'd given birth to their daughter, Lourdes Leon, the previous year, but the couple would end up splitting a few months after the Globes.

Back in 1997, George Clooney was best known for his work on television, namely on "ER." He was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series that year for his performance on the medical drama and attended the Golden Globes with his girlfriend at the time, Celine Balitran. He was on crutches because of a twisted ankle.
