Each year, the ESPY Awards bring athletes out of their jerseys and into red carpet attire. Some sports stars completely know how to bring it and look their sharpest while others fall short. Wonderwall.com is taking a look at who deserves a best dressed nod in addition to their countless trophies, and who needs a bit more work. We kick off the list with Russell Wilson and Ciara, who unsurprisingly looked razor sharp in their coordinated red carpet outfits. The NFL star looked like a natural in his tuxedo jacket, while the singer — a red carpet pro — looked drop dead gorgeous in a skintight black gown. Nastia Liukin has been walking red carpets since she won gold in gymnastics at the 2008 Olympics. While she usually wins big in fashion as well, her outfit for this year's award show was a bit too severe. The combination of the hugely puffed sleeves with the extra-long braid was all just a bit much.

Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade rolled up to the ESPYs looking flawless. Union stunned in a floral, 80s style mini dress that she made feel modern. Wade looked effortlessly cool in his white on white, which brought out the white detailing in his wife's frock.

Usher usually looks super sharp, but his matching houndstooth outfit was a bit rough on the eyes and appeared ill-fitting on the singer.
Professional golfer Paige Spiranac looked like a red carpet regular when she walked into this year's ESPYs. She stuck to an easy winner with a strapless, sparkly dress but made it look perfect with simple accessories and a breezy hairstyle.
New mom Allyson Felix brought a much needed pop of color to the ESPYs with this yellow two piece set. The color looked absolutely radiant on the Olympic sprinter — who carried a bottle of BOLT24 rather than a handbag — and gave a peek at her strong physique.
NBA player Dwight Howard looked cool as anything in his baby pink suit. His accessories — pink mirrored sunglasses and a heavy chain — completed the look and made him stand out in all the right ways.
Tori Kelly showed up on the ESPY Awards red carpet in a bit of an eyesore. The singer's dress literally clashed with the carpet and was too busy and too shiny. She topped it off with some serious red overkill in the form of red jewel hoops and red nails.
Elle Fanning, who presented alongside Von Miller, looked stunning. The 21-year-old's sleek hair style made her look mature and paired well with her one-shoulder sparkly gown. She kept accessories to a minimal, only bringing out the bling with a few rings to accentuate her look.
Lilly Singh's outfit was certainly fitting for the event — paying tribute on her collar to her beloved Toronto Raptors who recently won the NBA finals — but it was a bit much to pair a purple suit with purple eyeshadow.
Completing Lilly Singh's outfit, was "WE THE NORTH," on the hems of her purple pants. The Canadian YouTuber gets points for dressing on theme, but the execution was a bit too much.
Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, who won Best Female Action Sports Athlete at the show, didn't exactly win on the red carpet. While the print of her dress was cute, the cold shoulder and high-low hemline made it too busy and her chunky heels, while certainly more comfortable, were too heavy for the outfit.
NFL Network anchor Taylor Bisciotti had beautiful hair and makeup for the ESPYs red carpet, but her feathered dress matched her blonde hair a little too well, and a quick glance made it all look like one — not a good thing.
The path to fashion success at the ESPY Awards was lined with sparkles and Lindsey Vonn's dress was no exception. The recently retired Olympic skiier looked absolutely gorgeous in her sparkly gown with a high slit, showing off her insanely toned legs.
