Fashion hits and misses from the 2019 BET Awards

The 2019 BET Awards were bigger, brighter and more colorful than ever before! From flashy patterned prints to vibrant neon hues, stars brought their most daring style A-game to the big show — celebrating actors and musicians alike — in Los Angeles on June 23. With such an array of eye-popping looks, Wonderwall.com rounded up the best and worst fashion moments from the night, starting with Karrueche Tran. The "Claws" actress wowed in an oversized fluorescent yellow pantsuit with extra-long sleeves and a cinched belted waist by House of Holland. Karrueche Tran wore triangle peep-toe stilettos that were totally on-trend! Her patent leather heels offered up an extra pop of color and perfectly complemented the color scheme of her rainbow earrings.

Ciara rocked a fierce and fabulous Jean Paul Gaultier number for the 2019 BET Awards. The "Level Up" singer looked radiant on the blue carpet (chosen instead of typical red to honor the late Nipsey Hussle) wearing the bright orange wrap minidress with structured point shoulders and a whimsical side train. She paired her stand-out look with coordinating strappy Stuart Weitzman heels.

Rihanna looked like the dominating rock star that she is wearing an oversized black leather wrap jacket with matching pants for the 2019 BET Awards. While the designer of her pantsuit hasn't been confirmed, we think the silhouette looks awfully like some of her own Fenty creations for LVMH. When it came time to add accessories, the superstar opted for necklaces by Loree Rodkin.

Lizzo tried to bring nature-chic to the 2019 BET Awards, but she just turned out looking like a tree trunk. The "Juice" rapper donned a custom woodgrain House of Holland minidress with voluminous structured shoulders and booties that blended right in as they were made from the same print. Ella Mai stayed true to her all-neon look with rectangular sunnies in the exact same hue of green, but kept her other accessories more subdued to balance things out. She opted for a thin silver choker and big hoops with a dainty design.

Leave it to Cardi B to absolutely shut down the 2019 BET Awards fashion game! The "Please Me" rapper seriously slayed wearing a custom Nicolas Jebran gown in a bright lime green hue similar to that of Ella Mai's pantsuit. The futuristic creation featured an intricately braided neckline, high structured shoulders and a beaded train fit for a queen. Floor-length fringe made way for two daringly high front slits that showed off Cardi's gams and her sparkling Miu Miu shoes.

Lil' Kim went for a futuristic vibe similar to Cardi B, but went way too far out of the fashion realm with her 2019 BET Awards look. The "9" rapper wore a custom NAZ Couture by Rufat Ismayil minidress in shades of dusty lavender with a lace-up corset bodice, oversized structured hips and sheer bell sleeves. Along with the matching Marie Antoinette-inspired bomber jacket, she accessorized with black Chanel biker gloves and a designer-imprinted basketball handbag.

John Legend looked nothing less than legendary in a retro-style gray suit at the 2019 BET Awards. The "All of Me" singer donned a printed button-up with a classic jacket and wide-leg trousers featuring a unique triple-button closure. He finished off his Old Hollywood look with gold-chain embellished black loafers.

Eva Marcille found a chic and elegant way to incorporate her growing baby bump into her look for the 2019 BET Awards. The "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star dazzled in an ethereal pastel pink Michael Costello gown with a flowy cape, thigh-high slit and draped fabric tied together to accentuate her bun in the oven. She accessorized with an array of eclectic beaded bracelets and bangles along with fun Betsey Johnson platform heels.

Yara Shahidi plucked her 2019 BET Awards ensemble straight off the Prabal Gurung Resort 2020 runway. "The Sun is Also a Star" actress looked fashion-forward to say the least wearing a gray turtleneck and oversized pastel sweater tucked into a turquoise sequin wrap-tied miniskirt. Yara Shahidi's floral-inspired drop earrings are everything! She accessorized with a pair of dainty and dazzling Hanut danglers made from natural pearls and diamonds. The gorgeous starlet subtly incorporated similar stones into her long braids for a majorly cohesive vibe.

Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Mary J. Blige looked as elegant as ever in a white Alberta Ferretti halter gown at the 2019 BET Awards. The "No More Drama" icon dazzled in the backless silk chiffon number with silver beading.

We're not quite sure who Blac Chyna was trying to channel with her over-the-top vixen look at the 2019 BET Awards , but we've narrowed it down to Pamela Anderson, Dolly Parton or maybe even Ivana Trump. Regardless of where her style inspiration came from, she donned a sexy red Bryan Hearns gown completely covered with sparkling rhinestones in the same hue. Fantasia Barrino's attempt at voluminous sleeves didn't work as well as Regina Hall's did at the 2019 BET Awards. The "Bad and Boujee" rappers accessorized their '70s-style ensembles with custom Zana Bayne leather harnesses in corresponding shades of soft yellow, gray and baby blue. Quavo was dripping with enough ice to light up the entire blue carpet! He had on his signature Avianne & Co. diamond rings spelling out the name of his album, "Huncho," with 3D letters for each finger, as well as chunky braided chains around his neck. The "Pure Water" rapper polished off his suave ensemble with Vintage Spek's rose-tinted Cartier frames.

Quavo's lady love, Saweetie, looked like a campy version of a Barbie doll at the 2019 BET Awards. The "High Maintenance" rapper got into character wearing a magenta Moschino halter minidress with a cleavage-baring cut-out and gold chain embellishments. She topped off her ostentatious ensemble with elbow-length turquoise gloves and a high pony.

Meagan Good's 2019 BET Awards look was straight fire! The "Intruder" actress wore a red-hot suit dress with a thick matching belt to cinch her waist. She accessorized with a shiny rectangular clutch in the same bright shade and let her fishtail braid hang to one side.

Ne-Yo — in his signature feathered cap — looked super-slick and stylin' for the 2019 BET Awards. Ne-Yo rocked maybe the coolest pair of Christian Louboutin Oxford loafer-sneakers ever! The fusion creation featured peach toe-fronts with silver spikes, a white mesh center panel with black patent lace-ups, a suede green backing and red lining all around.

The multi-colored Retrofete minidress that Angela Simmons wore to the 2019 BET Awards would have been unicorn-chic if she hadn't gone overboard with matching rainbow heels. But the two bright options combined made for one majorly excessive color explosion. (Fun fact: Taylor Swift actually wore the same glittering wrap dress with fun parachute sleeves for a TV appearance last month!)

Tyga looked fresh in all-white everything at the 2019 BET Awards. The "Taste" rapper wore cargo pants and a basic tee with a zippered utility vest on top. He accessorized with Vintage Speks' millionaire Louis Vuitton shades and crisp white sneakers.

Speaking of beehives… Teyana Taylor rocked an interesting honeycomb-print ensemble for the 2019 BET Awards. The "Hurry" singer looked uber-campy wearing a vintage Mugler jacket and latex miniskirt with matching black Christian Dior thigh-high boots. But without any skin showing between her skirt and shoes, the look became all too confusing.

And another one! DJ Khaled's outfit for the 2019 BET Awards was just as much of a hit as his many No. 1 singles. We're not mad at June Ambrose's diamond-encrusted Thalé Blanc clutch in the shape of an evil eye, but she took her own eye makeup too literally. Instead of letting her unique bag do the talking, June chose a blue all-over shadow look that was totally overpowering. And her loopy sky-high updo gave us major Cindy Lou Who vibes from Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," right?

H.E.R. fused both ethereal and edgy elements into her visionary look for the 2019 BET Awards. The "Focus" singer donned a silk marble-inspired Kyle'Lyk pantsuit with a flowy long-line jacket and wide high-waisted trousers. She added a bit of edge with a black lace leopard-print Natori top and platform Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

Just because Lil Nas X made a country track — "Old Town Road" — with Billy Ray Cyrus, doesn't mean he knows how to dress the part. He wore a bewildering turquoise rodeo-style suit with mismatched prints lining his lapels and pants for the 2019 BET Awards. He probably should have stopped at the oversized white cowboy hat.

Prada or not, Anderson Paak's blue camouflage tracksuit at the 2019 BET Awards just didn't hit the fashion mark. Honestly, the "Make It Better" rapper's busy all-over print made us just as delirious as Lil Nas X's pattern overload did.

2 Chainz rocked print far better than Lil Nas X or Anderson Paak at the 2019 BET Awards. The "Rule the World" hitmaker looked stylish and sophisticated in a silver cherry-blossom tuxedo jacket with tailored black trousers and classic Oxford loafers.

Parker McKenna Posey went all-geometric glam for the 2019 BET Awards. The "Games People Play" actress worked an array of shapes into her ensemble in a black corset dress with angled boning, rose-tinted triangular frames and pyramid-bottom stilettos. She put a fun spin on her accessories with a "Thank You" take-out inspired bag on her arm.

Doja Cat used her name as inspiration for her 2019 BET Awards ensemble, but her feline-themed look turned out far from purr-fect. The "MOOO!" rapper wore a hot pink crocheted frock by The Blonds NY adorned with balls of yarn and faux fur fringe. She went so far as to rock matching pink yarn cat ears!
