The world premiere of "The Idea of You" — the hotly anticipated new movie starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine — took place during the closing night of the SXSW festival on March 16.
The film — which debuts on Prime Video on May 2 — is based on the book of the same name by actress and author Robinne Lee. Prime Video sums up the Amazon Original project, which was directed by Michael Showalter from a screenplay co-written with Jennifer Westfeldt, like this:
"'The Idea of You' centers on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. When Solène must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter's trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes and there is an instant, undeniable spark. As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn't long before Hayes' superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for."

He and co-star Anne Hathaway clicked right away, he revealed. "The chemistry read was kind of transformative. As an actor you oftentimes go into those rooms with so much trepidation, and it was so open," the "Red, White and Royal Blue" actor told People magazine of his audition and first time meeting the Oscar winner.
The "Mary & George" star had been "asked to bring a song and convince Annie to dance with me" during the chemistry read, he explained. "And that was very anxiety-producing because I am not a dancer, and it's also hard, you know, you're meeting someone for the first time and you don't want it to be weird, but with those things you kind of have to go all in."
It couldn't have gone better. "It was so open and I think it was really at that moment that we kind of knew that there was a connection — that there was a chemistry there and it was so much fun in that audition, which is rare to say," the "Purple Hearts" and "Bottoms" actor added.
Nicholas got a call offering him the part of pop star Hayes Campbell the next day.

"In the beginning of the film, the character… she's really scared of going on that adventure because she's had such a rough experience with her ex-husband. And so to me, I was incredibly moved by the opportunity to tell the story of a woman blooming," the Oscar winner told People magazine of playing Solene, an 40-year-old art gallery owner who embarks on a romance with a 24-year-old international pop star.
