One year after he nearly died in a snowplow accident, Jeremy Renner says death is a "glorious" part of life where there's nothing but "peace."
The actor, 53, opened up about the experience to James Corden on the former late-night host's new SiriusXM show, "This Life of Mine With James Corden."
"I was never afraid, mind you, of death prior. Now, I'm really not afraid of it. Now, I'm double downing. Yes, certainly not afraid of it. Now, I'm kind of excited for it. To be honest, it's what life really is," Jeremy told James on the show's Feb. 1 episode.
"This rock that we're spinning on and this body and this language that we're speaking and all these feelings and emotions and conflict is all horse s***. It's meaningless in the scheme of things," said the star, pictured here in January 2024 on the set of "Mayor of Kingstown."
In January 2023, just one year before he took this photo, Jeremy was crushed by a snowplow on his property in Reno, Nevada, while trying to prevent the machine from harming his nephew. He was airlifted from his ranch to a nearby hospital, where surgeons treated him for blunt chest trauma and extensive orthopedic injuries, his rep confirmed to People the next day. He's since revealed that his liver and lung were punctured and his eye was displaced from the socket.
Though many of his injuries have healed, he now has metal implants throughout his body, which he also discussed with James.

At one point during his appearance on "This Life with James Corden," Jeremy was asked to pick a "possession" that's important to him. He chose his "titanium."
Asked to clarify "which titanium" he was referring to, Jeremy quipped that he wasn't talking about his "watch."
"It's the 15, 20 percent of my body at this point and it will be with me forever. It's like half of my ribs, right?" he explained.
"So these are titanium implants that are in your body?" James asked.
"Correct. A bunch of them, yeah," said Jeremy, whose implants even inspired the title of his new EP, "Love and Titanium."
Entertainment Tonight reports the star's orthopedic injuries included eight ribs broken in 14 places, a broken shoulder, a broken leg and tibia and two broken ankles. His eye socket was also damaged in the accident. He broke more than 30 bones, in all.
"Recovery is like a one-way road," Jeremy mused, before sharing more about his experience with death...

"I wasn't going to come back from death, which I thought was glorious, by the way," Jeremy Renner said.
Asked to clarify, he continued, "I don't know if it's fading into consciousness or just fading out of like heart stoppage."
He then recalled his memories from that moment: "[I remember] that everything was, all life was grand," he said. "All life just got better. It's an energetic thing. There's no time, place or space or color or anything. It's just a known peace."
Since his recovery began, the actor has repeatedly praised the people close to him who've supported him.
"I was reminded that love, good will, hard work and a legion of good humans are getting me through every day … thank you, bless you," he captioned a photo of himself at the gym that he shared on Instagram on Jan. 15.
He echoed that sentiment in his sit-down with James Corden…

"One of the first people at my hospital bed was Anthony Mackie," Jeremy Renner told James Corden of his "Avengers" co-star.
"This accident … He was in Vegas. He shot over and he's the first person I saw when I woke up — and we don't talk all the time. We're not like hanging out all the time because the problem with having, you know, actor friends, everyone's so busy and now we're all parents and we never see each other," he continued.
Despite their busy schedules, Jeremy and Anthony, pictured here sharing a warm embrace in 2010, have stayed close.
"We rarely talk to each other, but the connectedness that we have is an always thing," Jeremy said.

Another person who's held a special place in Jeremy Renner's heart since his accident is his 10-year-old daughter, Ava Renner.
"She makes me the best version of me. She inspires me to be better," he told People last year.
Ava, who was at her dad's side in April 2023 for his "Rennervations" premiere, also makes frequent appearances on the actor's Instagram.
He shared a photo of the two on New Year's Day, the one-year anniversary of the accident that changed his life.
"Reason number One for my recovery is her," he captioned the black and white shot. "I asked her to 'wait for me' when I first saw her January 14 as I arrived home. As I got better, she got better, less afraid," he continued.
"There is simply no better motivator to recover than to heal your family and friends…. With gratitude always, thank you all for your love and support this last full year," he added. "I needed every ounce of goodwill and prayer."
