NeuraLink, a company founded by billionaire Elon Musk, implanted a brain chip in a human for the very first time.
The product, which he's named Telepathy, will seemingly allow customers the ability to control computers and devices like phones with their minds. The hope, Elon has said, is to restore communication and movement as well as enhance cognitive abilities like memory.
Right now, Telepathy is focused on helping people who've lost the use of their limbs.
While Elon has touted this implant as a huge success, some people — even his supporters — are leery of the brain chip.

"The first @Neuralink product is called Telepathy," Elon Musk wrote on X on Jan. 29, explaining that it "enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking."
"Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs. Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal," he added.

"Elon Musk just announced that the first human subject received one of his Neuralink brain implants. It's never a good sign when the headline is the words 'first human subject,'" late night host Jimmy Fallon joked in his Jan. 30 "Tonight Show" monologue. "It's never a good sign when you wake up from surgery and the doctor says, 'Oh my god, it worked!' It's never a good sign when your surgeon's like, 'We'll have you running as good as a Tesla in no time.'"
Jimmy continued, "But Elon said the patient is recovering well, or he's about to walk this guy around like 'Weekend at Bernie's,' he's not sure. Elon's goal for the brain implant is for people to control computers with thoughts. And for some reason if it freezes, don't worry just turn your brain on and off again…"

"I am a great admirer of Elon Musk. I am extremely concerned about NeuraLink. This appears to be a very dangerous and bad idea. I hope Elon will listen to the skeptics and reconsider this accelerated push to merge man and machine, or perhaps create ethical guidelines which limit its application to certain classes of infirmities like paralysis, deafness, degenerative neurological diseases etc." —Right-wing media influencer Charlie Kirk
