An exhibit is now on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City that delves deep into both ancient and modern elephants.
The museum notes that its "The Secret World of Elephants" exhibit, which opened in November 2023, is meant to show why the earth's largest land mammals are "essential to the health of their ecosystems, and inspiring efforts to overcome threats to their survival." Right now, only three elephant species roam the earth.
As part of the popular exhibit, museum workers painstakingly recreated a life-size model of a woolly mammoth, once prominent during the Ice Age.
