The Catholic News Agency reported that Shia LaBeouf's confirmation took place on New Year's Eve 2023 at Old Mission Santa Inés Parish in Solvang, California.
He wants to continue his journey in the church and hopes to become a member of the faith's clergy.
"He just spontaneously said, 'I want to become a deacon,' and he still feels that way," Capuchin friar Brother Alexander Rodriguez told the outlet.
Though Catholic priests are not permitted to marry, deacons — who assist priests and bishops — can have wives if their marriage preceded their ordination. Shia is wed to actress Mia Goth, with whom he has a daughter.

While speaking on Bishop Robert Barron's YouTube series, Shia LaBeouf said, "God was using my ego to draw me to Him. Drawing me away from worldly desires. It was all happening simultaneously. But there would have been no impetus for me to get in my car, drive up [to the monastery] if I didn't think, 'Oh, I'm gonna save my career.'"
