The Gleneagles Hotel is world renowned, as it features three golf courses, a spa and a two Michelin star restaurant. Considering rooms begin at $2,000 a night, Rod Stewart was already dropping a pretty penny when he and his family stayed there. But, the room rate wasn't enough, so he left $13,000 for the staff.
"I've been lucky enough to stay in some of the top hotels in the world and the service at Gleneagles is second to none," the "Maggie May" singer told the Daily Record. "The staff do a terrific job at a very hectic time of the year and deserve every penny. It's Scottish hospitality at its very best."

After leaving the five-figure tip, Rod Stewart imparted some (biased) financial advice.
"I advised the boys and girls at Gleneagles to invest the money wisely: stick the lot on Scotland to win the Euros," he said.
Rod has been a lifelong supporter of the Scottish national team.

Rod Stewart has been very generous with his money. In January 2023, he phone into a United Kingdom news program to criticize wait times patients have when trying to get medical scans. Rod then decided to pay for patient scans at his local hospital in Harlow, Essex, to speed up the process.
He then visited the the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he'd paid for the scans, to "prove I'm not all mouth and trousers," he said, according to The Independent.
"If this is a big success, which I think it will be, I'd like to do it in Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, and just keep it going, and hope some other people follow me," he added.

Rod Stewart is hardly hurting for money. It's estimated that he's worth about $300 million, and he listed his Los Angeles home over the past summer for $70 million. He's also in talks to sell his music catalog, which would substantially increase his wealth.
"Rod is incredible for a man his age and still has boundless energy but he's always been canny so it's no surprise that he's thinking about what happens when he can no longer perform," a source told Page Six of his decision to sell his catalog. "He also wants to make sure everyone is well looked after when he's no longer around, and he is also really thinking about how he ensures his legacy."
