In December 2023, DailyMail.com reported that Mitch Winehouse has filed a lawsuit against Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay, two women in Amy Winehouse's inner circle. Amy's father is accusing her friends of putting Amy's property up for auction and profiting from it.
In court documents, he argues that the women sent "various items of personal property owned by Amy during her lifetime" to two auctions in 2021 and 2023. By putting the items up for sale "in their own names and on their own behalf," the women "converted" the late performer's property "to their own use," he alleges.
DailyMail.com reports that he's seeking £730,000 (the equivalent of $927,000) from the women.

In November 2023, a spokesman for the Amy Winehouse estate weighed in on the lawsuit.
"In 2021, Amy's estate auctioned items from her life and career with 30% of the proceeds going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Two individuals sold a number of items at that auction and have retained the proceeds: The items were all Amy related," a statement said.
"This year they have put more Amy-related items up for auction and together the two auctions have generated six-figure sums for each of them. The estate has questioned how these items came into their possession and has not had satisfactory answers.
"The estate has therefore launched a legal process to clarify the situation. The Amy Winehouse Foundation will directly benefit if monies are recovered from either defendant."

During Amy Winehouse's lifetime, she was often pictured with Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay, the latter of whom was even a rumored love interest.
Among the items allegedly sold were notes written by Amy.
As the 2021 auction of Amy's property got underway, Mitch Winehouse said on Instagram: "Amy's auction is underway in LA. Some of the prices raised has been incredible. My first reaction is of great sadness. Our kid is not here. We are heartbroken. As a family we are pledged to give 33% of money raised to Amy's Foundation. Amy is still working [her] magic."

Amy Winehouse passed away in 2011 at 27. The cause of death was alcohol toxicity.
The Englsih singer became an international star thanks to the success of her 2006 album, "Back To Black," which won five Grammys including record of the year and song of the year for "Rehab." The music was said to have largely been influenced by Amy's tumultuous romance with on-and-off boyfriend-turned-ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
A biopic about the late singer and her tragic death was filmed in 2023.
