A pro basketball player who has suited up for the Portland Trailblazers and Sacramento Kings is facing kidnapping and murder charges in Las Vegas after a woman's remains were found in the Nevada desert. The FBI arrested Chance Comanche, 27, and his girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, 19, for their alleged connection with the disappearance and death of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers. Marayna and Sakari were reportedly close friends.

Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington state, was last seen in Las Vegas on Dec. 6 during a visit with friends. She was reported missing the following day. KLAS in Vegas reported that police learned that Marayna was out with friends on Dec. 5 and had a pre-arranged meeting with Sakari Harnden. Sakari had said she was bringing her boyfriend, Chance Comanche, to the meet up, police said in a news release.
"Early in the investigation, detectives suspected foul play and obtained evidence to arrest Harnden and her boyfriend Comanche for their role in the kidnapping and disappearance of Rodgers," authorities stated.

Chance Comanche was taken into custody into the Sacramento County Jail. He's expected to the extradited to Las Vegas.
Sakari Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas on Dec. 13 for her connection to the disappearance, and is currently sitting in the Clark County Detention Center with a $500,000 bail set. A criminal complaint for the kidnapping charge against Harnden stated that she held or detained Marayna Rodgers against her will and without her consent for the purpose of killing her and/or inflicting bodily harm, KLAS reported.

Chance Comanche and the Stockton Kings played in Henderson, Nevada, on Dec. 5 as they took on the G League Ignite. Marayna Rodgers was last seen alive that evening.
Following the game in the Las Vegas suburb, the athlete traveled to Portland, Oregon, for a game against the Rip City Remix. Chance played in both games.

Chance Comanche played college basketball at Arizona from 2015 to 2017. After entering the NBA draft, he was not selected by a team. Still, he played overseas and in other lower-level basketball leagues.
In April, he played in one game for the Portland Trailblazers. In October 2023, he had a short stint with the Sacramento Kings and eventually signed with their G-League Team, the Stockton Kings.
After his arrest, the Kings released him.
