Matthew McConaughey details terrifying Lufthansa flight, emergency landing
Matthew McConaughey is opening up for the first time about the terrifying ordeal he and his wife Camila Alves experienced when their Virginia-to-Germany flight on Lufthansa fell 4,000 feet before making an emergency landing in March. As it turns out, he didn't have a seatbelt on during the incident. "My tray table is what held me down," Matthew said on this week's edition of Kelly Ripa's "Let's Talk Off Camera" podcast (via Page Six). "I did not have my seatbelt on, and there was not a seatbelt warning right before it happened." After checking Camila's lap to make sure her seatbelt was fastened, Matthew said he realized there was "no way to get control of this situation" so he and Camila simply "held hands."
As for his co-passengers, the "Dallas Buyers Club" star said reactions ranged from those who looked "suspended [in] disbelief" or "ghost silent," to people having "big bursts of laughter." He added: "And it was not like, 'Oh, this is fun.' It was like, 'I'm in shock.' … Your red wine and the glass and the plates that your food was on are all suspended, floating, still just in the air … and then everything just comes crashing down." Matthew also said he was sitting by a pilot friend who was able to help him stay calm by reminding him he could fly the plane if necessary, among other things. Despite the pilot's reassurances to Matthew, the star said the flight attendants didn't look "extremely confident" during the ordeal.

Two-time Oscar winner marks major milestone with boyfriend Ant Anstead
There's some big news on the horizon for Renee Zellweger and British TV personality Ant Anstead. The couple, who met on the set of an episode of Ant's "Celebrity IOU Joyride," have "found a house that they both love and are moving in together," according to a People source. "They are very happy and in love. They have tried to keep their relationship private and low-key because of Hudson," the insider explains. (Ant shares 3-year-old son Hudson with his second ex-wife, HGTV star Christina Hall, and is also a dad to teens Amelie, 19, and Archie, 16, from his first marriage) The real estate moves come less than a week after Ant said he'd sold his Temple House in Laguna Beach, Calif., off-market because it, "came at the right time, for another property and a change in my personal life that I'm really pleased about." Ant, 44, and Renee, 53, confirmed their romance in June 2021.
Fans think Taylor Swift hinted about Joe Alwyn split weeks ago
Taylor Swift's fans are convinced she's been sharing clues about her split from British actor Joe Alwyn for weeks, if not longer. News the couple had called it quits after six years together broke over the weekend, and Swifties on social media quickly swerved into detective mode, sharing a barrage of speculation about hidden meanings in moments from Taylor's recent performances. As fans noted on TikTok and Twitter, Taylor announced during a show on March 31 that she'd "never played this song live before," then sang "The 1," a breakup song about ending things with someone the protagonist thinks may have been their soulmate. She apparently subbed in "The 1" for "Invisible String," in which the singer realizes she was connected to her future lover by "an invisible string" long before they got together, romantically. "Y'all. Swapping 'Invisible String' for 'The 1' Taylor Swift at #TheErasTour was telling us something," one fan wrote on social media (via the Daily Mail).
Others, meanwhile, reposted footage captured at Taylor's March concert in Glendale, Arizona, in which her eyes seem to well up with tears as she performs "Champagne Problems." The track is a breakup song Taylor wrote with Joe that tells the story of a couple who split amid a failed marriage proposal — as their loved ones pop champagne, not realizing the pair won't be saying "I do" after all. One user speculated, "… Joe really wanted to Marry her and Taylor didn't, that's why she cried in champagne problems" while singing the line, "I never was ready so I watch you go." (Taylor and Joe were long rumored to have been secretly engaged or married.) According to Entertainment Tonight, the split was amicable, which may explain why Taylor appeared to be wearing her gold "J" necklace when she was photographed in New York City on Monday (April 10).

Halle Berry shuts down ageist commentary on sexy balcony pic
Halle Berry has no time for haters, a point she proved in epic fashion after a troll left an ageist comment on her latest stunningly sexy selfie. On Saturday (April 8), the Oscar winner posted a picture of herself standing on her balcony drinking a glass of wine without a stitch on. In the pic, Halle's body is covered tastefully by her long hair, an arm she's leaned against the balcony's edge and the wrought iron latticework. While most commenters referenced their awe at how gorgeous she looks in the photo, one Twitter user snapped, "Imagine being in your 50s" and sharing pictures of yourself with nothing on "for attention in menopause when you should be chilling with the grandkids." The commenter added, "Aging with dignity is no longer a thing." The tweet has since been deleted, but a screenshot captured by Bazaar shows Halle's elegant and hilarious response (which has also been taken down). "Did you guys know the heart of a shrimp is located in its head?" she wrote in reply. As the star explained in the caption on her original post, "I do what i wanna do. 💋 happy Saturday."
Jeremy Renner says he broke approximately 35 bones in snowplow accident
Jeremy Renner returned to late-night for the first time since his snowplow accident on Monday (April 10), making an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" ahead of his upcoming "Rennervations" premiere. Wielding a cane and wearing a smile, he even managed a few dance moves as he walked onstage amid a standing ovation. "If there was any question as to who the toughest Avenger is, that's settled now, right?" Jimmy asked, referencing the star's incredible recovery from the New Year's Day incident.
"Scarlett Johansson," Jeremy joked. He went on to admit he "got lucky in a lot of ways" after breaking "35 or so" bones. "We kept discovering them as we were going along. It went from critical order, like, priority of what I'm going to die from or not. And then six weeks later, I'm finding another break and another break and another break," he recalled. "It just missed every vertebrae, didn't hit any organs, didn't hit my brain, didn't swell, nothing like that. My eye did pop out, that's weird," he continued. "But I got pretty lucky that none of my organs got messed up. It pierced my liver but that wasn't dangerous." When Jimmy asked about the collapsed lung Jeremy suffered, he cracked, "Yeah, that's fine. I've got another one." While he was positive and full of jokes, however, the actor later told Jimmy, "I promise you I'm in a ton of pain." Jeremy's new vehicle renovation show, "Rennervations," hits Disney+ on Wednesday.
