Wynonna Judd says mom Naomi Judd's death is still 'confusing'
"Confusing" and "mysterious." That's how country star Wynonna Judd describes the mental illness her late mother, Naomi Judd, was battling before the elder singer died by suicide at age 76 on April 30. "I said goodbye to her in the hospital, and I closed her eyes, and I kissed her forehead and that was that," Wynonna recalls in a new preview clip of her upcoming interview on "CBS Sunday Morning." "And the next thing I know, I'm sitting here on the front porch, on the side porch … you know, and I'm just tryin' to figure out what's next." According to an autopsy report (via Entertainment Weekly), Naomi died with prescription drugs in her system for bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. As Wynonna recalled to Lee Cowan on CBS, she wasn't aware her mom "was at the place she was at" in April "because she had had episodes before and she got better." The singer added, "That's the challenge with mental illness: it's really, really mysterious." Moving forward, she said she still struggles with whether she should have "looked for" or "known" that might have indicated how serious Naomi's depression must have become. "She had incredibly great days in the middle of the dark days, that's why it's so confusing," Wynonna explained. The Country Music Hall of Famer's full "CBS Sunday Morning" interview airs Sept. 25.

Kanye West likens co-parenting battles with Kim Kardashian to Gap, Adidas disputes
Kanye West sees parallels between the co-parenting disagreements he has with Kim Kardashian and his increasingly nasty battles with fashion brand partners Gap and Adidas. In a rare, televised interview, part of which aired on "Good Morning America" on Thursday (Sept. 22), the Yeezy designer, who recently changed his legal name to Ye, spoke candidly about conflicts in multiple areas of his life. "This is the mother of my children, and I apologize for any stress that I have caused, even in my frustration because God calls me to be stronger," he said of his ex, Kim, with whom he shares daughters North, 9, and Chicago, 4, and sons Saint, 6, and Psalm, 3. "But also, ain't nobody else needs to be causing no stress either. I need this person to be least stressed and at best sound mind and as calm as possible to be able to raise those children." Kanye's griped about Kim's approach to child-rearing in the past, primarily on social media. He's also used Instagram to bash the heads of Gap and Adidas on a number of fronts, including claims Adidas stole his design ideas. Asked if he has "a voice while co-parenting," Kanye linked his family and work struggles as having a common denominator. Having to "fight" for a co-parenting voice, he said, "hurts you when you have to like, scream about what your kids are wearing." He said he also has to "fight for" his kids to attend his unaccredited, Christian-focused private K-12 school Donda Academy. "It's those little nuances where there is a parallel in what was happening at Gap, what was happening at Adidas and what was happening at my home," he continued. "It was all kind of a disregard for the voice of something that I co-created. I co-created the children. I co-created the product at Adidas. I co-created the product at Gap. It's a parallel and the parallel does touch on discrimination." Later in the interview, Ye claimed to have hired "new lawyers" in his ongoing disputes with Gap and Adidas. "We really had to level up and really show them who is the new boss in town," Kanye said. "That I'm the boss of me." The full interview, "A Conversation With Ye: Linsey Davis Reporting," airs Thursday night on ABC News Live.
Former 'Goldbergs' star Jeff Garlin reveals bipolar diagnosis
A few hours before the Season 10 premiere of "The Goldbergs" aired, its former star Jeff Garlin announced for the first time that he suffers from bipolar disorder. He shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday (Sept. 21), in a concise post that read, "Bipolar is a mother******. Sometimes it's just too much to deal with. I'm doing the best I can. This is the first time that I've opened up about this." Jeff, 60, exited "The Goldbergs" in 2021 after he was accused of multiple instances of inappropriate behavior on the set of the show, where he played Murray Goldberg. In Wednesday's season premiere, viewers learned Murray had died. Speaking to Vanity Fair last December, Jeff said he'd been the subject of a human resources investigation "about my behavior on set" for three years but that he had not been fired from the show. "It's always the same thing. It's about me and my silliness on set. They don't think it's appropriate. I do. That's where we're at," he said at the time. He went on to call the allegations — which included inappropriate hugging and allegedly "abusive" verbal remarks — "confusing and untrue," telling the outlet he "would gladly respect anyone" who asked him not to hug them. "I truly am sorry, to have hurt anyone's feelings, or made anyone feel greatly uncomfortable," he added in the same interview. Less than two weeks after the interview ran, Deadline reported Jeff and ABC had reached a deal for his exit from the show, "effective immediately." Bipolar disorder commonly causes swings between mania and depression, with bipolar mania symptoms often including "impulsivity, risk-taking, and poor judgment," according to the Mayo Clinic. Jeff is set to return for the upcoming twelfth season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which reportedly starts shooting this fall.

Cardi B shows off gift from Beyonce, threatens to 'electrocute' anyone who gets near it
Cardi B went super-fangirl on Twitter this week after Beyoncé sent her a signed vinyl edition of her new album, "Renaissance," complete with a personal thank-you note for Cardi's support. Just don't plan to get anywhere near the album if you value your life. The rapper showed off her new gift in a video post on Monday (Sept. 19), alternately gushing about how sweet it was of Bey to think of her — and hilariously detailing her maximum security plans for protecting the record. "Look what Beyoncé sent me!" a robe-clad Cardi tells the camera in the clip. "Read it, b****!" she says, letting out a cackle. The rapper goes on to read the note herself: "Hard working, beautiful and talented queen, thank you for always supporting me. Sending so much love to you and yours. Respect, Beyoncé." Almost cooing, she muses the gift "was so beautiful, so lovely …," before taking her voice down an octave. "I'm gonna put it in a glass frame with laser beams on it. Anybody that gets mother******* next to it is gonna get electrocuted on mother******* site," Cardi jokes, adding, "And I just wanna say, thank you so much. I feel so special."
Olivia Wilde sets the record straight on Shia LaBeouf, 'Spit-Gate' and more 'Don't Worry Darling' drama
The offscreen drama around Olivia Wilde's new film, "Don't Worry Darling," may have peaked when its original star, Shia LaBeouf, publicly denied the director's claim she fired him. Or perhaps the climax came with rumors Harry Styles spit on his co-star, Chris Pine, at the film's screening in Venice. Stephen Colbert seemed intent on getting to the bottom of any remaining confusion when Olivia stopped by "The Late Show" on Wednesday (Sept. 21). Asked directly whether Shia quit or was fired, Olivia, who both directed and acted in the film, cited tension between her initial stars, Shia and Florence Pugh, and her apparently unsuccessful attempts to mollify things. "Once it became clear that it was not a tenable working relationship, I was given an ultimatum," she said. "I chose my actress, which I'm very happy I did. At the time, was I bummed that we weren't able to make it work? Sure. Did information about him come to light later that made me confident we made the right decision? Absolutely." Pressed on why Shia believes he quit, Olivia said his departure simply left them both feeling as if they were moving on separately. The director addressed what she called Chris and Harry's "Spit-Gate," too. "Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine? Why or why not? Support your answer," Stephen joked. Laughing, Olivia replied: "No, he did not. But I think it's a perfect example of, like, people will look for drama anywhere they can. …"
Harry Styles honored with Madison Square Garden banner after record-setting residency
Harry Styles' name joined those of Billy Joel and Phish on a brand new banner in the rafters of Madison Square Garden on Wednesday (Sept. 21), as the singer wrapped up his historic, sold out, 15-night residency at the famed New York City venue. The banner — one of just four honoring musicians at MSG — was unveiled by Gayle King, who made a surprise appearance onstage. "We're all in Harry's House, right? Fifteenth consecutive night of sold-out shows. No artist has ever done that before," she said as a banner reading "Harry Styles 15: 15 Consecutive Nights at the Garden" was raised. Video footage on social media showed the former One Direction star put a hand to his heart and wiped a few tears from his face. (Other clips showed Harry's girlfriend and "Don't Worry Darling" director Olivia Wilde dancing beside the stage during the show.) "There's so many people, again, tonight, who have supported me both professionally and personally throughout my life and I just want to say to all of you, thank you. I would not be on stage if it wasn't for you. Thank you all so much," he said. "I have so many incredible things to be lucky for in my life and I constantly continue to feel the most grateful and the most lucky for the people in my life. I want to thank you for being there for me." Harry went on to urge his fans to connect with their loved ones: "Tell the people in your life who you love that you love them. Spend time with them, it's the most important thing in the world. Turn to the person next to you, tell them you love them."
Bryce Dallas Howard reveals she was asked to lose weight for 'Jurassic World'
Bryce Dallas Howard hopes the third installment of "Jurassic World" inspires some progress when it comes to the body types of leading ladies. "How do I say this…[I've] been asked to not use my natural body in cinema," the actress told Metro in an interview published Thursday (Sept. 22). Bryce, who's played Claire Dearing throughout the franchise, did all her own stunts on the film — and they're intense. She explained that wouldn't have been doable had she not been at her strongest, something director Colin Trevorrow seems to have recognized. "On the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women cast, it was something that Colin felt very strongly about in terms of protecting me … because the conversation came up again, 'We need to ask Bryce to lose weight,'" she shared. "He was like, 'There are lots of different kinds of women on this planet and there are lots of different kinds of women in our film.' And I got to do so many stunts that wouldn't have been possible if I had been dieting."
